Honestly, I've never been much of a fan. His matches always seemed so over the top absurd. It was always a matter of him going up against someone much bigger; and regardless of how heavily mismatched they were, he would somehow manage to win. I can accept that happening occasionally, but with him it always seemed to be a foregone conclusion. His matches would reach almost cartoonist heights of disbelief, when he would end up kicking his opponent in the chest repeatedly with his shins across their chest. I get it! David vs Goliath. It's a great story. The underdog ekes out as victory. It's a heartwarming take. Except that it isn't that at all, when it happens so frequently. It became so predictable when he would lose, just to set up his ultimate victory against someone. I've got news for everyone: speaking as someone who has been involved in real fights against people of all shapes and sizes... of every degree of fighting experience from none to trained in martial arts to street fighter... I worked in personal security, wherein I had to engage people physically; and at 6'6" and 285 lbs at that time, someone if Brian Danielson wouldn't last 30 seconds in a real fight. Yes, folks! Yes! Yes! Yes! Size does matter in a real fight. You can be trained in martial arts, wrestling, or whatever discipline you want, but if the size disparity is too great, you're just tilting at windmills; and you're going to get your ass kicked. I know that the WWE is scripted, but it doesn't change the fact that for it to be entertaining, they need to get me to suspend my disbelief; and when he was in the ring, all I could think of was, _"Vince is really scraping the bottom of the barrel with this guy, regardless of how likeable he is."_ Sorry to burst your bubble, folks.

They didn't erase him. They meant the traditional Royal Rumble match, which Gunther broke the all time record for. Plus they had Bryan appear for Cena's celebration a few months back so I don't think there's any grudge from either side

Honestly, I've never been much of a fan. His matches always seemed so over the top absurd. It was always a matter of him going up against someone much bigger; and regardless of how heavily mismatched they were, he would somehow manage to win. I can accept that happening occasionally, but with him it always seemed to be a foregone conclusion.
His matches would reach almost cartoonist heights of disbelief, when he would end up kicking his opponent in the chest repeatedly with his shins across their chest.
I get it! David vs Goliath. It's a great story. The underdog ekes out as victory. It's a heartwarming take. Except that it isn't that at all, when it happens so frequently. It became so predictable when he would lose, just to set up his ultimate victory against someone.
I've got news for everyone: speaking as someone who has been involved in real fights against people of all shapes and sizes... of every degree of fighting experience from none to trained in martial arts to street fighter... I worked in personal security, wherein I had to engage people physically; and at 6'6" and 285 lbs at that time, someone if Brian Danielson wouldn't last 30 seconds in a real fight. Yes, folks! Yes! Yes! Yes! Size does matter in a real fight. You can be trained in martial arts, wrestling, or whatever discipline you want, but if the size disparity is too great, you're just tilting at windmills; and you're going to get your ass kicked.
I know that the WWE is scripted, but it doesn't change the fact that for it to be entertaining, they need to get me to suspend my disbelief; and when he was in the ring, all I could think of was, _"Vince is really scraping the bottom of the barrel with this guy, regardless of how likeable he is."_
