- Discord is a platform filled with very obvious features crammed down your throat. However, there are some hidden / secret features that are really helpful that everyone should know about.
First off, the remix feature. Bad boy just came out and is pretty nifty if you are censoring something in your photo or just making low effort memes with your friends. Timestamps make it easy to coordinate with friends or look super professional. Sticker suggestions are annoying, turn them off. Verifying a member can help out people stuck in Discord purgatory.
Silent messages, self explanatory those bad boys make no ping noises. Markdown, makes your messages cleaner (unless you use the bug I show you) and also allows you to have a longer about me in your profile.
DMing clyde, if you wanted this I hate you. But I try to be helpful to everyone
Finally the Custom RPC for Discord. The holy grail in terms of Discord tricks and tips. Advertise using it or make a big memes.

A modern day miracle just happened. Seems like pinging clyde in DMs only works with specific DMs.
But nothing is stopping you from just finding a DM that works, making it a group chat, adding your friend and kicking the other person.

Discord is the type of company to lock basic photo - editing tools that I have for free on my phone behind a paywall.
I mean discord has never had this feature before so it’s a little understandable. But yea you could just edit it on your phone and save it separately. Think the discord one is just basically a convenience fee

@@LucarnAnderson Discord not having photo editing until now isn't really a good reason for them to charge for such a basic feature that comes standard in most modern phones, in my opinion.

Charging for things that are free to use elsewhere is entirely stupid, regardless of the reason they're charging for said thing.
They need to make money. They're not locking you out of anything. If you can still edit with your phone then do that, no one is forcing you to use Discord or use their cropping tools.
5:42 Also, I'm surprised you didn't mention this. Pinging someone by their user ID is a super useful moderation tool to ban someone who is not currently in your server. Be it, they left, got kicked, are trying to join from an alt, or you wanna ban the same person in another server you own/manage. I know this as I've had to use it multiple times myself.

Well best bot to use to counter ALT accounts attempting to rejoin is called "Double Counter" it has a large amount of ways of stopping Alts from getting in your server and in the description of it not even VPN will keep your alt account safe from it.
This detail could be overlooked but you've forgotten to mention that you need to close Discord, otherwise Vencord's installation wouldn't work.
Why would you need to REclose Discord if Vencord restarts Discord itself? Seems like the work is done already.

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you’re referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX. Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called “Linux”, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project. There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine’s resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called “Linux” distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

No, it's 'Linux', not 'GNU/Linux'. The most important contributions that the FSF made to Linux were the creation of the GPL and the GCC compiler. Those are fine and inspired products. GCC is a monumental achievement and has earned you, RMS, and the Free Software Foundation countless kudos and much appreciation.
Following are some reasons for you to mull over, including some already answered in your FAQ.
One guy, Linus Torvalds, used GCC to make his operating system (yes, Linux is an OS -- more on this later). He named it 'Linux' with a little help from his friends. Why doesn't he call it GNU/Linux? Because he wrote it, with more help from his friends, not you. You named your stuff, I named my stuff -- including the software I wrote using GCC -- and Linus named his stuff. The proper name is Linux because Linus Torvalds says so. Linus has spoken. Accept his authority. To do otherwise is to become a nag. You don't want to be known as a nag, do you?
(An operating system) != (a distribution). Linux is an operating system. By my definition, an operating system is that software which provides and limits access to hardware resources on a computer. That definition applies whereever you see Linux in use. However, Linux is usually distributed with a collection of utilities and applications to make it easily configurable as a desktop system, a server, a development box, or a graphics workstation, or whatever the user needs. In such a configuration, we have a Linux (based) distribution. Therein lies your strongest argument for the unwieldy title 'GNU/Linux' (when said bundled software is largely from the FSF). Go bug the distribution makers on that one. Take your beef to Red Hat, Mandrake, and Slackware. At least there you have an argument. Linux alone is an operating system that can be used in various applications without any GNU software whatsoever. Embedded applications come to mind as an obvious example.
Next, even if we limit the GNU/Linux title to the GNU-based Linux distributions, we run into another obvious problem. XFree86 may well be more important to a particular Linux installation than the sum of all the GNU contributions. More properly, shouldn't the distribution be called XFree86/Linux? Or, at a minimum, XFree86/GNU/Linux? Of course, it would be rather arbitrary to draw the line there when many other fine contributions go unlisted. Yes, I know you've heard this one before. Get used to it. You'll keep hearing it until you can cleanly counter it.
You seem to like the lines-of-code metric. There are many lines of GNU code in a typical Linux distribution. You seem to suggest that (more LOC) == (more important). However, I submit to you that raw LOC numbers do not directly correlate with importance. I would suggest that clock cycles spent on code is a better metric. For example, if my system spends 90% of its time executing XFree86 code, XFree86 is probably the single most important collection of code on my system. Even if I loaded ten times as many lines of useless bloatware on my system and I never excuted that bloatware, it certainly isn't more important code than XFree86. Obviously, this metric isn't perfect either, but LOC really, really sucks. Please refrain from using it ever again in supporting any argument.
Last, I'd like to point out that we Linux and GNU users shouldn't be fighting among ourselves over naming other people's software. But what the heck, I'm in a bad mood now. I think I'm feeling sufficiently obnoxious to make the point that GCC is so very famous and, yes, so very useful only because Linux was developed. In a show of proper respect and gratitude, shouldn't you and everyone refer to GCC as 'the Linux compiler'? Or at least, 'Linux GCC'? Seriously, where would your masterpiece be without Linux? Languishing with the HURD?
If there is a moral buried in this rant, maybe it is this:
Be grateful for your abilities and your incredible success and your considerable fame. Continue to use that success and fame for good, not evil. Also, be especially grateful for Linux' huge contribution to that success. You, RMS, the Free Software Foundation, and GNU software have reached their current high profiles largely on the back of Linux. You have changed the world.

Something to note: timestamps CAN be dates from the past, all it is after all is an unix timestamp, you can even go back to Before January 1st 1970 (unix timestamp "0") by inputting negative numbers, so at least on that website you've shown the limitation was self-imposed I guess.

Instead of disabling all notification sounds, I just set my notifications for every server to "Only @mentions" manually, so people can still ping me if they want to talk to me directly. Most servers have it set this way by default, so I don't have to change it for most of them, because any server with more than a few dozen active members would drive everyone nuts with the constant pinging. I wish they were all set to this by default though or that discord allowed you to set a personal default that overrides the server preference, rather than just disabling notification sounds altogether. When you joined a new server and forgot to change the notification settings, it can be annoying to find the culprit in the list when you are in 100 servers. But I get some reminders for events happening and such on Discord, that I don't wanna miss, so I can't just turn the sounds off completely.

One great trick about the pinging stuff, if you do a \ before a ping, when you send it it will appear like the ID needed to ping

I remember I saw clyde's PFP change on old android (pre-react native garbo) and then i had the idea "lol what if i ping clyde in our friend group" and he actually just spawned in immediately. it was so funny
instead of putting too much effort with developer mode and making links to channels, you can just right click on the channel and click Copy Link. It's a URL but with recent changes to how they display links to channel and messages recently, it appears exactly the same
I don't understand. Couldn't you do this same thing by just typing at least before? You just put a hashtsg and type the name of a channel and you can create a link to a channel

Yeah, the is the old-school method, for mentioning any channel. It also technically, a bit different. For example, if you mention a voice channel with , you won't get the embed to join that voice chat. Furthermore, copy text on the message will also either be the mention or the link.

Using the method, you can also embed voice channels
you can literally ping voice channels using the `#!channel-name` syntax (notice the exclamation mark)

The RPC thing is active only if your discord is open and have access to internet, meanwhile I use a self bot that I made it myself to keep my activity 24/7, got the same button and images connected to one of my applications to set whatever I want as images and description, the best part of it is that I can also set myself as "Streaming" for 24/7

Moreover, if you're feeling extra generous, you could also include the alphabets of every dialect of English - and because those could really just be anything (language is made-up, so anyone can also make up new dialects), you'd probably be better off not restricting the character set at all
And why even English? If a game is made in Spanish only, with no English option, why would the UI be in English?
And why only have the UI in one language? Discord is available in mulitple languages. I can get having English as the default, but let us add translations.

You probably used some kind of plugin that was considered dangerous like experiments or maybe fake nitro.

Hey sir, you should specify why I should ignore all the security stuff and just run the vencord thing anyways. Now I and a few other people may already know why but I suggest giving a reason as to why I should ignore what is supposed to protect me. (for anyone wandering the reason is the unknown publisher of the file so defender flags it as dangerous)

It's really annoying when people write "Happens at 2 pm EST" and "Happens at 18:00 JST". I can't keep track of all these timezones and converting time formats. Use this function and it'll always be my timezone and my time format. This goes for all users.
