Back then I was visiting the Pow wow from Germany with my wife and a good friend. We had a great time in Browning. We can actually be seen in the video as spectators.
That's cool As an Anglo Family you enjoyed the events of the Blackfeet Nation... Especially your youth who I'm sure are grown by now.. It's given them an insight and understanding of Native People.. Sadly many Anglos especially at a young age don't experience that.. I'm sure the experience Blessed your life!!
The following is from en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blackfoot_Confederacy The Blackfoot nation is made up of four nations. These nations include the Piegan Blackfeet, Siksika, Piikani Nation, and Kainai or Blood Indians. The four nations come together to make up what is known as the Blackfoot Confederacy, meaning that they have banded together to help one another. The nations have their own separate governments ruled by a head chief, but regularly come together for religious and social celebrations. Today the only Blackfoot nation that can still be found within US boundaries is the Piegan, or Pikuni, which reside in Montana. "Earl Old Person" is the name of a chief. Earl being his given name and Old Person being the family name. "Real Old Person" is a mistake.
In the days of slavery, indians were not reconize as indians, if. Your skin was dark , then, you was reconize as black, indians on census report were mark down as black ¬. Indian.
Sorry but not true, blacks were black but my father was born in 1926 and there were only two to choose from either you were black or white, his birth certificate said white child but considering his parents were both native he could not have been white. I saw the birth certificate.
