Today, we have our 2013 Volkswagen Tiguan. We're going to be taking a look at and installing the T-One vehicle wiring harness with 4-pole flat trailer connector. This is going to allow you to connect to any 4-pole wiring, any trailers or accessories you might have. That way, your brake lights, your turn signals and your running lights will work. When you're not using it, you can bunch it up and store it in this compartment to keep it out of sight and out of mind. When you do need it, you can pull it out, run it over your threshold here. Be careful not to get it in the way of any hinges.
And you simply just close your hatch on it. And now, you can use it outside of your car.It does use this module box which is nice because if there's any shorts or anything like that in the wiring, it's going to protect your vehicle. To begin your install, you need to remove the compartment lid. We're going to set this this off to the side. You also need to remove the spare tire and all these compartments around it.Now, we're going to take off these little side compartment covers.
Just twist the knob a quarter turn to pop right off. We'll do the same to the driver's side. Now, we have to remove the taillights. And to do that, we first need to remove this little plastic trim piece. You can use a trim panel remover tool or just a flat head.
Let's get it in there and just gently pry like that. Then, underneath, we'll have two T25 Torx bits. We'll do the exact same thing to the other side. The last thing we need to do to remove the taillight is on the inside, there will be a plastic bolt here. And with a Phillips head screwdriver, just turn it a quarter of a turn and then the taillight should be able to pop out.Now with both of the taillights pulled out, we can unplug them. We do that by using a little flathead screwdriver.
Just lift up on the red lock. And use your finger to push down on the tab, pull it out. I'm going to do that to both sides. Now we need to remove this threshold. To do that, there is two bolts here and here and we will use a T15 Torx bit to remove those. Now with those bolts removed, you can go ahead and pry up on the threshold. Just pull straight up and you'll hear it pop out from these clips, will release. We could just set this off to the side. We're going to go ahead and remove or loosen up rather this panel. To do that, there will be a T25 Torx bit here. And down here, there will be a T20 Torx bit. The taillight connector here, we're actually going to push this through. That way, it will be easier to connect on the inside. If here's the wire, then just pull it through. Now, we can grab our module and follow our green wire to our two plugs. And what we do is we plug in the factory taillight connector in. We'll hear a clip, push the red lock down. Now, this will come out of the taillight housing and this will actually plug back into our taillights. We'll kind of push that back through. Now, we can mount our module to a nice flat spot. We're going to do it right here. Take our two-sided sticky tape and push that on the module. Remove the backing and just press it into place. Now, we can ground our ground wire which will be our white wire here using this supplied self-tapping screw in our kit, which also have a quarter-inch head. You just want to find a good clean, flat piece of metal so we're going to go right there. Just make sure it's nice and tight. Now, we can run our other taillight connector which will be on this yellow wire over to the driver's side of the car. So what we're going to do is come behind here and fish it down through here. What we're trying to accomplish is to get these connections through the opening on our driver's side taillight. Since it's really tight right here, what I did was kind of push this panel back and I used a piece of tubing and ran it up through this crack in between the metal part of the car and this plastic jack holder, and I was able to fish this up through there. When I fish that wire up, I could see it in this opening. I grabbed it and pulled it through. And now, we're going to take some electrical tape and tape our wiring connectors to our fish wire. And the tighter and smaller you can make it, the better. It will feed through that opening and the crevice a little bit better. We'll go ahead and carefully pull this up and fish it out. Now, just like we did the other side, take your factory connector, plug it into our new connector. We'll hear a click, push the red lock down. And just let that rest right there for the time being. Now, what I kind of like to do just to help keep our wire in place is just use some packing t

Bad way to run the wire
Run it inside in the molding of the door all the way to the driver foot and theres a gromet to remove to get your wire to the battery
