Edgar, dead trees are easier to work with because the wood 🪵 has lost the moisture content of a green tree. Live trees 🌳 take longer to saw or chop. Boughs for ground cover or roofing on a shelter, of course, come from green 🌲 trees. Some forests in the North West are so dense with trees and undergrowth that demonstrate the mismanagement of forests that are now dying of disease.

One question........ why would anyone put so much effort into building shelters, without a water supply ? When I did my survival training in the British Forces, that was the first thing we were taught to look for. You can last a few days without food, even without a shelter if the weather isn'tto inclemant, but you need ast least a litre of water per day to stay hydrated.
You are making an assumption. He made this compilation about shelter builds. Just because you didn't see water, doesn't mean it wasn't there. The video is all about the making of his shelters. Not about survival living. Try ASKING if there was water nearby.
