My favorite thing about the game is that it'll do that thing where you can't go a certain direction because you can't crawl through a small space, and you think to yourself, "Oh, I need the morph ball equivalent," but the game never gives you a morph ball. Most of the times when you know how Samus would get through an obstacle, Axiom Verge subverts your expectations and gives you a completely different power to do the job. It seems intentionally designed to surprise Super Metroid fans, and I love it.
