What I find from this is how Kanae has probably experienced some setbacks because he was too nice. What bothers him is how he doesn't find his kindness burdensome, but rather I think he wants his kindness to be recognized as genuine. Like how he couldn't seem to grasp his friend telling him the reason he probably couldn't find someone was because he was too nice/sweet. That at times, it might've made him think that, maybe if he wasn't nice, it would've been a better situation for him. Ultimately, I don't think his kindness is a facade at all but I'm guessing people have their barriers up when they meet someone like him, that it's difficult to take the next step and get closer to him (hence no romantic relationship). He needs someone who won't take his kindness at face value but understand that he is actually a good person because he wants to and his actions are genuine towards it.
I think when someone is nice to everyone, it's difficult for the other party who likes them romantically to advance further/get closer to him since he is just that - "nice to everyone" = no one is special.
kanakana is such a great person,, probably the first person that had me fell for with only his personality. whoever ends up with him sure will be the luckiest and happiest.

I wonder if when kanae-san's friend said that the reason he can't get a girlfriend is because he's too sweet, is because people who are too nice often get labelled as having no personality, since being kind/nice is kinda the most default compliment you could give someone. having "nice" be someone's go to compliment for you makes it seem like you don't have much depth, or don't have other distinctive traits. obviously kanae-san has the most amazing incredible loveable personality ever, but I could definitely see how being just the "kind guy" might not be the best for finding a significant other.
Underrated comment I really agree! To add on, uhh I don't want to admit I'm nice but it is quite hard for me and some other people I know to also look fun while being a really patient person with very careful phrasing. But I can still see Kanae's fun personality it really does stand out though even when he's incredibly a thoughtful person
Both out of experience and my original interpolation of the behavior before ever dating, to me being too nice means lying (about your own opinion) and no one wants a relationship based on a fake person. So obviously it can be challenging to convey that properly to a partner. I guess try to concentrate on things you don't see the same to convey an innate difference if you get along too well, to convey you're genuinely doing what you want. Not negatively tho, small benign things like say your partner doesn't like garlic but you do and there's that 1% ew from your partners face.
Eh? I thought since he's too nice, whoever wanna be his girlfriend can start getting Inferiority Complex.

I think Kanae’s pretaining that he wanted to be with someone that'll love and accept him, even though he's not kind, or someone that'll accept him even though he's different from how the society thinks of him as. I think kindness for him developed and later on became a responsibility instead of just his personality, this is how I kinda interpreted it as a psychology major. Sometime it makes me question what is kindness? Is always letting other person have their way and helping them doing their responsibility considered kindness? If I don't have a kind personality but I strive to be kind and pretend to be kind, am I actually a fake? a bad person? heartless? It's very confusing
@@ordinarycat9978 The concept of kindness differs from person to person. Imo you have to be able to be harsh when it's needed to provide kindness but some people may disagree with me or call me heartless/cruel and say that kind person have to be sweet, polite and so on and say that I'm a bitch overall trying to pretend to be good.
Everything depends on your own perception, worldview and beliefs. That obviously applies to other concepts of life like cruelty, emotions, love and whatever else you may question your life. There is no tutorial for life, you have to make your own.

Kindness is a good trait but it's not all a person can be. I kind of agree that kindness isn't enough but there's more to Kanae than that, so I don't think he should be all that impeded. It might just be a matter of opening up beyond that, which is really scary.

Is it just me or is the answer that his friend gave just a bad one? Like saying "you're too sweet" is the wrong trait to focus on or point out. I think saying "you're too sweet" makes someone want to be less kind or look at kindness as a negative trait...and I don't think that's particularly right? Maybe "I think you can set and enforce boundaries better" is a better way to put it since it allows the person to still be kind and love fully, but does not allow others to step over them or be unkind to them without showing there are consequences. I also think there's many factors involved in finding an s.o. including opportunities, opening up to people and sometimes just time and place. You can't just force people to love others romantically, sometimes it takes the right person to come along and evoke those feelings.

For me what I think is that if I have a bf I wanna be that special sweetheart of his and maybe treat me more specially compare to other people in his life but in kanae case since he is so sweet and kind to EVERYONE . It might make his gf feel not so special and taken care of a bit lack luster so yeah I kinda get why she said "you are too kind" as problematic. bruh i love watching kanaeboshi collabs (hoshikawa and kanae). The way she acts like such a tsundere and how he teases her got me shipping and squealing. My mind was screaming hoshikawa when he said he liked somebody before although it probably is not her aaaaaa!!!
