    This was used in Battleship Galactica 1978 - Welcome to Earth Season 1 Episode 17. They had to have an abandoned modern city scene so they used the abandoned expo setting

    Although it happened 3 years before I was born, I have always had a great fascination with Expo 67. It must have been a sight to see! I imagine that very little of it still exists today.

      Mitch Salawine I’ve been there, a few pavilions are still standing most notably the American one which is now a museum.

    Looked absolutely amazing... I think here in Australia, Brisbane had the world expo about 15 years later.. I don’t think it compared anywhere near to the impressive structures and pavilions of Montreal in 67...

    I turned 13 the summer of Expo. Though I lived in Toronto, I visited three times. Still among my life’s most formative experiences. But jarring to hear about the “exploitation of natural resources” as a positive thing.

      jarring or sensible?

      Indeed. Today we are taught that self abasement is a positive thing.

    • @imallearsru
      @imallearsru 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I doubt this refers to homosexuals. The term "Gay" came later, this is still the traditional meaning of the word, i.e. "Happy, flamboyant" etc. as in the hymn "Don we now our gay apparel". We hear this again in the video clip at 12:18. an obvious reference to the traditional meaning.

    • @conveyor2
      @conveyor2 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely amazing you'd think that had anything to do with militant gay rights...and that it would be mentioned in a documentary from 1967! At 12:18 it's "gay butterfly birds". Then it went on in to resources "harnessed by Man". Does that word only refer to the male gender of homo sapiens?

      It was the USA pavilion (geodesic dome) that was consumed in flame.
      It is now a biosphere.
