Havent watched this channel in a long time since I got busier with personal projects and a new job. This was a fun callback from the algorithm and a great, useful list. Thanks so much for these, some are definitely going into my wishlist
It's really good actually. I wouldn't exactly call it a Survivors-like like they do in the video, but it is close enough that if you enjoy those types of games these days, you'll enjoy Maniac as well. Plus, it's just really fun driving around and blowing everything up.
Natsu-Mon: 20th Century Summer Kid definitely deserved a spot on this list and I'm shocked that you didn't even review it in 2024. My favorite game of 2024 was probably Echoes of Wisdom. My favorite game I discovered in 2024 is 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim.
I had TONS of fun with Maniac. I just wish there was more of it. Once I unlocked everything, there's not much else to do sadly. I hope the dev(s) add more content, even if it's just another map or more characters etc.
That's a lot of cool stuff out there. I had a blast with many things not on that list. QOTD, my favorite game this year was easily Unicorn Overlord. Immediately replayed it after beating it.
Honestly 2024 was an amazing year for games. It's hard to choose a favorite but I love yohane the parhelion- numazu in the mirage. It's a great card based rpg rougelike that's not overly brutal like other ones.
I really enjoyed Iron Meat and Kill Knight (although holy crap is that game brutally difficult). The game I've played the most this year and have honestly loved the most is New Star GP! It's a great racing game that has the stylistic look of Virtua Racing but it goes WAY MORE IN DEPTH. It is the F1 game I really wanted this year. Nothing too crazy complicated. Just a nice progression system of researching parts, going through various grand prix campaigns, and there is even a light rival system in place that's pretty cool. If you're a racing fan, you have GOT to check out NEW STAR GP!!!
Seen previews of it and so, but out of curiosity- does that game have a strong single player part? The impression I get is that it's a multiplayer game with like, lots of guest robot DLC from famous mecha anime, but is that true?
@@goranisacson2502 it's got a solid story that doesn't take too long to complete. I think I finished it in about 20-25 hours. I actually never once played the multiplayer mode. The combat is fun albeit somewhat simple at times. I got it in discount a while ago. I quite enjoyed it
Kill Knight is such a crap title but the game is absolutely incredible. First time seeing this channel but great video, will be sure to pick up Death of a Wish.
I was on the fence about Maiden Cops, but I added it back to my wishlist and will try it eventually. I kind of don't really like the llamasoft games, but I think the concept of the game is cool.
The games themselves are real hit or miss. There are some absolute classics in that compilation (and I don't just mean Tempest 2000), but there are quite a few that don't hold up particularly well. I liken it more to walking through an art museum. You may only like some of the artwork, but you can appreciate its importance and enjoy the experience of learning about it.
I can do my own research although it would be appreciated next time you do a video like this to list the platforms these games are on 😅 and out of these I've heard of maiden cops (brushed it off like you initially did), played Iron Meat, Jeff Minter collection and anton blast
I'm going to recommend Flare Nuinui Quest. It's a retro style action platformer, influenced by Megaman and even Kid Dracula. It's based on vtubers from the Hololive company. While knowing about them helps getting the references, you don't need it to enjoy the game. Also, it's quite cheap (only 8 $) and has multiple characters with totally different game styles.
Erm…what the blast? In recent memory I’ve noticed a lot more _apple arcade_ games “graduating” to more platforms, what the car is another recent example of this as an occurrence. How do I have this knowledge? Well for one I have an iPhone, and for two, I was a subscriber until I found how pointless it was. QOTD: my favorite game of 2024? I’d argue I have several, but if I were hard pressed to have a _single_ answer? It’d be balatro…I don’t have an addiction I swear
As someone not on iPhone, how does Apple Arcade work? Is it like a subscription service that lets you play various games made for iphone, or do you purchade stuff or what?
@ it’s like game pass but mix in a dash of the epic exclusivity in terms of select games on the service, the rest are copy pasted from the App Store with the ad-free mtx included
I am basic and liked Final Fantasy 7 ReBirth the most of all the games I played this year, but I also didn't play THAT many games this year either so like... the game with THE biggest budget I played and the most experienced developers getting time to poliah their game the most, also delivering the game I liked the most is hardly a surprise.

Death of a Wish is just...man I hate that visual style. It just isn't for me. I'm sad it doesn't seem to have landed with anybody, I figured I'd be alone in not enjoying it. Personal GOTY is The Planet Crafter. Just peak comfy bliss. Everything you do pushes you forward, there's no fail state, and watching the world and music evolve as you play just hits right.
Those are some interesting games, that's for sure. And don't think I've played any of them. As for the question, I'm dividing it into 2 parts. Because even though it came out in 2023, I didn't play it until 2024, but the one I actually liked the best was Hogwarts Legacy. Yeah, felt like a very fun games. Now of the ones that actually came out in 2024, I'll say Life is Strange Double Exposure. Though it felt like the weakest of the LiS games, which is sad because you're returning to play Max, it was still very enjoyable. The rest are just that much better, why it felt like the weakest.
Didn't play any of those, but I was aware of Iron Meat, which is definitely my pick. Operation Galuga was a major disappointment. I believe Konami just doesn't know how to do a Contra anymore. Not after HardCorps on the Sega
If I'm considered casual, then I'm afraid to see what you consider "hardcore." The truth is, I simply didn't get to everything. Nothing against the games I didn't mention in this top 10 list.
"It looks like the kind of arcade game capcom would have been putting out 35 years ago." It looks significantly worse. Final Fight looks much better than "Maiden Cops."

Some games I have not heard of which is going to cost me. My favourite game of the year was Pepper Grinder.

Metaphor: ReFantazio favorite of 2024. Played a lot of ps1 and retro games also my back log is big because of it.

Agree to disagree. Aside from the anime girls, I think Maiden Cops would fit in right next to Final Fight, The Punisher and Captain Commando.
