I noticed Ellen’s tone was different in this volume especially toward Elisabeth. She was far more balanced and drew out deep points of character where the first volume seemed more superficial and critical. When she mentioned towards the end of the book her own experience of widowhood during writing this volume it all made sense. Glad to hear her speak on this aspect in this interview. She got to the heart of the matter. I have read Lucy Austen’s bio on Elisabeth, Valerie’s book on her parents “Devotedly, and now both of Ellen’s volumes. Valerie’s book “Devotedly” is the best in covering her early life and vaughn’s 2nd volume the best for later in life. Austen’s bio is very academic and goes on lots of side tangents and gives arguments for her view of egalitarianism Vs Elisabeth’s complimentarian view of scripture. She does this with her view of God’s will and other issues as well. I learned to skip these unnecessary ‘essays’ and get back to the meat, which to her credit there is ALOT to glean.
I'm currently reading Being Elisabeth Elliot by Ellen and I cannot put it down. What a great book, so well written and truly heart-warming. ❤
Elisabeth is my favorite woman to listen to . I appreciate her teaching very much !

Why would Charisma run this?
