  • We finally fix one of the things I hated the most on my 2022 subaru brz and that was the underwhelming brakes. We upgraded to 2006-2007 Subaru STI brembos and they look amazing!

Couple quick other notes for people looking to do this:
Because of the way they mount on the STI vs BRZ the bleeders will point down, making bleeding almost impossible. You need to move the bleeder to the other side of the caliper. The calipers CANNOT be swapped to opposite side. They need to stay on their original side because of differentially sized pistons.
As long as you pair them with 08-17 rears, brake bias is maintained to ~4.4% of oem. All those articles that state otherwise are intentionally misleading to promote their own brake up grade kits.
04-07 front Brembos are identical to 08-17, for all intents and purposes. It's the rears that matter. 08-17 rears have larger pistons and are direct bolt on, no adapter brackets.
And 04-17 fronts don't require any grinding to install. That is only necessary if you want to install the metal harmonics bar/bracket that they put on the earlier BRZ's to help mitigate brake noise.

Thanks for the input - just wondering if you need any specific tools to swap the bleeders? I'm planning to work on 10gen sti black brembos. Cheers

@@SH-L0 just a wrench to unscrew the bleeder and an allen key to undo the plug on the other side. Should take just a couple minutes.

Let me correct the numbers. The Sti setup is not near OEM, but it's not much further off than some other BBKs. It's 4% off towards the front while what we want is as much as rear bias before the rear becomes unstable under braking, so OEM or ideally little more towards the rear. Sti Brembos with 08-17 rears are 4% off towards the front. Stock front pistons are 40.5mm (not 42.8mm as some forums say) and 294mm discs, pad height 50.2mm, stock rears are 40.5mm as well paired with 290mm discs, pad height 33.6mm. The Sti Brembo's have 2x40 and 2x46mm pistons and 326mm discs, pad height 60mm. 08-17 Sti rears are 40mm pistons, 316mm discs and 45mm pad height. The stock bias using these numbers I've measured on my stock brakes is 64.4% towards the front and Sti front with Sti 08+ rear is 68,8% towards the front. Not very OEM like. When using only Sti fronts with stock rears, the front bias is 70,6%, not good at all.

Was the fill nozzle swapped to the top of each caliper, since the 2004-07 STI is mounted at 3 o'clock rather than the BRZ having them mounted around 7 o'clock?

I know this bud is old, but I’m looking for some help and it seems to all come down to 5x100 being the issue. I’ve got a E210 Corolla with 5x100. Looking to upgrade brakes and curious as to if these Brembos would work on it? I’m dealing with 18x8 +40 and would like to run 17x8 +35. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I believe the c6 brembos need the knuckle to be grinded but that only applies to BRZ aluminum knuckles. GR86 has steal knuckles that don't need to be grinded, from what I read

I did not get to test it with a 5mm spacer but you’ll definitely need to space the oem wheels to fit.
