  • How to play craps with the Horseman, by capitalizing on a long run - converting your Come Bet winnings into place bets
We take the base horseman, let the bets get set, and then with our wins, start placing bets, working your 3 come bets into a full across play!
Getting more out there on the table when you have the opportunity is always good play, especially when there's no edge applied.

This worked PERFECTLY at Harrahs (other than getting my Don't Pass whacked). But I basically did a Come Ladder into placebets and rode that to victory

The first time the $25 come bet hit it only paid $25 (Even money) If you placed it they pay $35. So two hits would of paid $70 ( 2X$35) VS $60 ( $25 + $35) Plus you have options with your pace bets. ( press, regress, take me down etc plus you can pick and have total control of your bets)

Yep, agreed. The come bets in this strategy are a means to an end. You’ll notice that I generally play them only once and transition myself to place bets as soon as I can. I like them to feed the 7 early in the ugly cold table rolls and then use them to swing from afterwards. You know me, I always preach that options are your friend.
I do believe that having both come and place options in your toolkit is important as well.

@@ProCraps Ok, but your ROI is still higher with your place bets and more options.

John, if your Don’t gets knocked off, do you ever then go to the Pass if you have profits to use?

I don’t. If I’m playing straight horseman, then my 4 units are my 4 units for a shooter. If they knock of the don’t on the come out, I’ll sometimes come back, but if they hit a point, I just skip it and let the come bets run their course. I’m very strict in the money management on this one.

This is something I struggle with. I get stuck in endless Come loop because I never know when to pull out and switch to Place bets. Once I’m Coming, it’s hard to stop. 😬

      LOL.
I try and get out of that cycle if I can, if I’m going to stay light side.

I like the J. Patrick approach, never bet the come, why have a # come out twice to win, while a place bet, on the same # would win 2 times

There’s a sizeable advantage while in the Come, though, and a strategy such as this one in particular is built around scoring on rolls 1, 2 or 3 so that Come bet pays off. I get that place bettors don’t love having to sweat that 2nd hit, but over time Come bets pay off just a frequently as the place bets do. I’ve done some studies that prove that out … even if it doesn’t feel that way at the table.
I make massive use of both Come betting and Place betting when I play. They each have such a different rhythm … having both in your toolbox is essential to winning if you can hit the chop right.
… and I’m a HUGE John Patrick fan as well.
