Thanks for tuffing it out with Nammthrax and doing the show Ola! And I hope that sciatica is getting better...I'm dealing with something like that now, it's no fun lol. Now I'm off to jam on my Solar ;)
I did a job for a customer and we were talking guitars specifically Dimebag, he brings out a nice case inside was a Dimebag pick, I remeber it had Diamond Darrell on it. And also a ticket stub from Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto. I want to say it was from 93’-94’.
A guitarist known only for Solo's which launched and gave him a Career wish to shut these doors behind him. Reminds me of the Career-people who pulls up the rope-ladder below them as they ascend to avoid competition for their future promotions.
I don't think it needs to die, but too many bands are basically practicing weedley weedely weedely scales, none of which you're going to be humming in your head while you drive in traffic. People have forgotten how to write something that is memorable, a hook, a harmony, melody. Something that people can attach to.
Drawing/painting is a skill I wish I had, even at a mediocre level. I'm too heavy handed and just can't do the delicate touches needed. I SO admire great visual artists!
Great Intro song in this episod. And a big applause and wistling for Louise for the great adventure part. Pix is also one realy happy dog. Great episod 173???? 🙂
The Dean booth was cool imho, some seriously nice guitars (and at great prices, I must add). I hope I can get some of these over here to the EU ;) I don't really get the fuzz about the ML guitars, these are awesome guitars and should be out there. Damn, they should have their piece of good exposure after all those legal troubles. Good to see they are back, the surely should!
it’s one thing to make an ML, but to use the sigs they made for him and just strip the logos and continue to profit off his infamous finishes after all the lawsuits is low asf👎let it go dean we wanted them cuz they were DIME’S guitars.. yes i know the ML was a thing before he rose to fame, i’m talking about the finishes
Well..... everyone does a "slime" of sorts now, the Brazillia is essentially a "tobacco burst." It looks like bad taste, BUT, the last Made in India Dime Slimes are pretty bad ass, it's bad to say, but I guarantee these will be soon called the "Lawsuit Dimes" and will sell back for a pretty penny. Give it time, everyone will want them.
9:30 Dean Green burst and The brazilia burst are not Dimes guitars. They where there before Dimebag used them. But yes, the blue one without the lightning is fucked.
The paint job isn't even really unique to Dean. In 1992 I owned a rare early to mid-'70s Fender Precision bass, that pretty much had exactly the same finish as the OG Dime Slime.
Keep on being a trooper Ola!! That intro was something new great work, especially on the GW grunts and rough rough like the dog! Meedeley meedley can be melodic, just look at some of the Lorna Shore solos that are meedleys that have melody.
I’ve been wanting some dean MLs for a long time and I’m finally glad they are bringing it back, I haven’t had an ML in a year or 2 and it pains me because I love the shape and necks, they are my most comfortable guitar
Ola we all appreciate you for giving us a swola even when you're sick man! My wife and I watch every Sunday. Pigs is disgustingly cute what is that little ewok noise she's making lol hope you feel better soon sir🤘
There's certainly something to be said about hoping for less obligatory guitarsolos. We've heard it before that solos should be related to the song, related to what that song is trying to get across to the listener. And some guitarists can do exactly thát: David Gilmour's a prime example, as is Snowy White, and so was Jeff Beck. People who don't set out to impress the listener with their technical skills, but rather with a "story to tell", and every note is where it needs to be - no more no less. I'm getting more and more into that, rather than years ago where I used to play as fast as I could.
I would love to go to NAMM. And feels like open to the public could be the key to it continuing. Comic Cons are hugely popular and if cringely they can bring a bit more of that - the draw will be there for both exhibitors and crowds
I think Dean had 2 choices with the ML, either “recreate” it by giving it new colours, new pickups etc (like the multiscale, in the end) or just not care and do what they did by putting this stand together… IMO it shows what kind of company they became
The ml was made before dime, and he can do the ml because it’s his shape, and there are a lot of ml’s without dimebag name before that, i don’t know way they can’t do more ml’s, and i’m a big fan of dime, but i don’t think what you think about this, sorry ola, thanks for do this swola , you are amazing man, and the intro was sick!!!!!
I think if they would’ve made the ML in different colors or finishes other than these exact ones, I would’ve agreed with you. But now these with the zebra neck pickup, Floyd and EXACT finish as the dime slime? Nah
That was a sick riff Ola. Love the contrast from your usual faster, thrashier, more technical riffs. Made me think of doom metal meets (new) Enslaved with just a hint of throw-back to classic Burzum (but much better)
If I had enough money to spare I'd buy one of those guitars in the intro. Very cool look with the gold plated hardware on the red body and, even though they're awkward to deal with when changing strings, I like having a Floyd Rose on an electric guitar.
The ML shape existed before the Dime sig. That's not to say they aren't being petty. Because I'm sure they are. I think they need to start making MLs with a 25.5 scale and 24 frets. Idk of any metal players/shredders who use 22 frets and 24.75 scale.
When I bought my ML back in 2019, it was precisely because of the 24.75 scale. That's not to say I have small hands or anything, but to me a 24.75 feels a bit easier to play than a 25.5. What they should do instead is, make it easier to reach the highest frets, perhaps by shortening that chonker of a neck heel and/or bringing the cutaway closer to the neck pickup. I don't know how that would affect the weight balance though...
Totally agree. I have an ML-K that I can't stand because of the Gibson scale length and aggressive radius. Flatter neck and 25.5 would be literally perfect.
Dime's solo and little riff on "Floods" is the most beautiful thing I've heard.
same, I always tell peoplel that. Favorite riff of all time :)
I'll have to agree.
They played it live last night!
@@briann1482 How bad did Zakk ruin it?
Badass for sure it's on a video of him playing in 1988 just apart of a solo at the show
Holy smokes, man. That was some SICK art work!
Edit: lmao when you lifted Pix. That was so funny LOL
As long as there is a guitar, there will be a guitar solo. That is all I have to say. 🔥🎸🔥
Awesome doggy. The best thing a family could ever have !!
Oh damn. That original at beginning is just wow. Best I've heard this year. I feel good inside when I hear your music
Even when you are half dead your vids are the best out there.
Lol
I hope you restore your health quick and easy brother, is always great to watch you thanks for the effort!. Blessings from México.
Even ill, you are killin it! great as usual
Thanks for powering through and making episode "173" for us! A solid 6/10!!! Hope you feel better very soon!
Pix's happy chirping is just precious.
Always love your riffs/songs, but that intro was great! I really like the slower, “heavier” riffs
you are a trooper Sir Ola! ...lifting you up in prayer Bro
Wishing for a quick recovery! Thanks for toughing this out and putting the video together.

Pix's happiness was ALL the feels! So cute!
Happy SWOLA!! Hope you feel better Ola!

thanks for delivering the goods ola

Begun, the Dime Guitar wars have.
Such a baller to come entertain us on a Sunday while sick. Rock on Ola!
Yeeach it is very meancholy grove riff i loved dude. Awensome intro
A guitarist known only for Solo's which launched and gave him a Career wish to shut these doors behind him. Reminds me of the Career-people who pulls up the rope-ladder below them as they ascend to avoid competition for their future promotions.
Exactly! Just because he's bored with his (and other's) old playing doesn't mean the rest of us are.
Marty's statement was debunked as something created by an AI bot. He never actually said this about the solos.
@@jamesp7709 I hope so for his own image's sake.
@@birdsteak9267 Ola pinned the correction on top in here. He got it straight from Marty.
Appreciate you Ola . Hope you feel better soon brother.
Great Job Ola - rest up feel better
I just saw Borknagar’s update about their new single right before watching this and I’m pretty sure that’s the same artist. Cool stuff!
Pix part was the best - I could watch it over and over again
Feel better..!

Introduce some new finishes for the ML, which predates Dime by many years, and there's no problem. Pretty shitty to use his sig finishes.

I have 2 original picks from Pantera, "Diamond" Darrell and Rex Brown given to me at a small show in Omaha back in the day.

Insane in the riff brain, insane in the brain...
That was a sick riff Ola. Love the contrast from your usual faster, thrashier, more technical riffs. Made me think of doom metal meets (new) Enslaved with just a hint of throw-back to classic Burzum (but much better)

I enjoy Dimebag solos a lot. Solos are great and important to a song
Yay drums
I think Andy James would disagree with Marty He makes his BC Rich sing and shreds all in one
The ML shape existed before the Dime sig. That's not to say they aren't being petty. Because I'm sure they are. I think they need to start making MLs with a 25.5 scale and 24 frets. Idk of any metal players/shredders who use 22 frets and 24.75 scale.
ML's and V have existed in 25,5 there was the "255" razorback V's and "255" razorback .
Zakk Wylde lol
24.75 with 24 frets
When I bought my ML back in 2019, it was precisely because of the 24.75 scale. That's not to say I have small hands or anything, but to me a 24.75 feels a bit easier to play than a 25.5.
