    For a USTA 4.0 tournament you did great. You know some of your shots aren't at that level yet and you needed to bring some food with you to keep going. Great work!

    Tell Kyle to serve 3-6 feet closer to the ally (where ever he feels comfortable). Makes the 3rd hit much easier to get to. All around very impressive showing guys!

    Hey man, great post - one thing I mentioned before, I'm not sure you saw, but you gotta stop running through your shots. Plant and hit even on an approach, plant them dang feet. It's probably why when you were tired in your match against Chris even though you said you weren't moving your feet you were actually hitting cleaner because your body and feet were chill

    I would rate Trey in Belgium around 10 to 20 points. Our system goes all the way until 115 points (pro players like Zizou Bergs, Joris De Loore, etc.).
    I have currently 30 points and I'm planning to play some tournaments to reach 40 points. At 40 points, you have a solid overall game (consistent good and deeper groundstrokes, good serve and netplay). Between 50 and 80 points, you have all that and on top of that also serious weapons like e.g. FH winners, high intensity play, advanced tactics, etc.
    Above 80 and you're a beast that already plays since childhood. Really nice games to watch.

      @@Wowverycrazy You're welcome. This system has been introduced since a couple of years in the northern part of Belgium (Flanders). In the south (Wallonia), they still use the older system. 30 points is there equivalent to C-30 level. France also uses a very similar system as Wallonia.

    That's a tough match, especially after having played so much tennis already! You said it in the video, but your net game is where the struggle really seems to comes in. I attend a tennis school (here in Japan that is normal, hard to play regularly otherwise), and I think that is probably one of the biggest benefits - working on specific aspects like volleys, smashes, and so on. A ball machine can help, but I really believe coaches matter here because they can notice specific deficiencies that we can't, even if looking at video, and help correct them. If you get that net game down and solidify your backhand, you'll be a beast to play. You're obviously already a solid player. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing your journey!

  • @alwaysprepared
    @alwaysprepared 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    You guys are seriously great competitors whether you believe it or not. Kyle is crazy good considering how long he has been playing! But, in Doubles, he is standing in the center of the court when he serves and doesn't move. Totally wide open for any crosscourt returns! He needs to at a minimum move towards the sideline immediately after he serves, but really he needs to stand near the singles line when serving, honestly. The mindset should be to mostly cover his side of the court and only if needed to cover a lob over Trey's head... When Trey is serving, pinching the middle of the court is good, but it depends on how good the returner is at hitting down the line. If only one player is at the net, still cover mostly your side. It's impossible for one person to cover all the net by himself. Rely on your partner to cover his side, for the most part. At least this should be the mindset for newer doubles players.
    Once you get better, then it's more fun with poaching, using different serving tactics and set plays...

    Kyle, you're serving position is, um, non-optimal. You're standing next to the center line, like you're playing singles. You're giving up WAY too much open court to the returner. You need to stand more like 10 feet away from the doubles sideline when you serve. Or stand some distance that is more reasonable.

    If Kyle fixes his serve positioning (wider) he’d have a better chance in dubs.
    If Trey stops approaching the net for volleys until he spends a month or so learning how to volley he would make way less errors. Might need to revisit some coaching and stop building your bad habits through constant match play. Everyone looked like a 3.5 at best too.

    Absolutely no progress in volleys. I cannot understand why you don’t work thereon. So many easy points just given away. I mean you are athletic and you can make up for some lack of technique in your groundstrokes by your physicality and your really good serve. But after you hit a good approach shot, you so often suck at the net. It is really hard to see. I hope you are not offended by my harsh criticism but watch all your footage and think about it. You could level your game so much with some decent volley technique.
    And another advice for an older player : Do not forget to drink during the game and have magnesium before it. Also a banana may help. I saw Berretini eating one during a match and he is a professional under the top 50 in the world. So probably a little more athletic than you 😂
