Like Stone Cold Steve Austin. And what better Heel turn than have the guy who used the image and ideals of American troops for their wrestling persona to all of sudden betray those aspects for that money. Great writing. Capitalism at its finest.
In all fairness I don't think he is a bad guy. And I don't condemn people for liking him. He is just weak and I don't respect him. I don't even dislike him. I can understand why he submitted but I don't like that he did. He is a nothing and a nobody to me after those actions. And he always will be unless he does something super big and heroic. I doubt that will happen.

Aaaaand this is how you tackle toxic masculinity in fiction.
They built this character for an entire movie and half a TV show as this super macho ultra muscular dude with his oversize magnum going around talking about how many people he killed, and calling women "sugar tits"...only for him to slowly starting to admit he doesnt like killing people, he can actually fall in love, and does "feminine" things like playing the piano, because the whole "Peacemaker" persona is a mask he created by trying to please his abusive dad.
Would love to see Hollywood learning a thing or two from this show, but I know they wont, and they will think the show is a hit because of the violence and the dick jokes (and yes, as with all James Gunn works, violence and dick jokes are part of the package that makes them work, but they are so much more than just that).

@@BigK13372 there was more to establishing that Peacemaker’s father and his followers were bad then just racism, it showed how they act, how they treat other people and how their destructive ways can harm others. There is more to the topic in this show then screaming racism bad, there is also the fact that the show’s focus is mainly on the characters and their bond as well as there obstacles and challenges. I also said nothing about subtly in my last comment but showing anti racist ideas in a show doesn’t make it automatically woke, wokeness is a propaganda extreme where you’re virtuous until proven racist, at least the kind of “racism” that offends the modern crowd. The difference between woke writers and actual writers is that with actual writers there is more to any topic then just pushing modern propaganda 247 in the throats of the audience whether visually or in dialogue to get across a message. The main focus of entertainment with actual writers is also on characters and the story with any potential message if there is any to play secondary to the entertainment. A better approach to writing or telling any story with a message is to really think about it. There is also the fact entertainment needs to be front and center if it isn’t it would fail, subtly is a method that is used so that entertainment is the primary focus of a tv show but even if a message isn’t subtle entertainment needs to be the key main factor of a movie , book game, or show in order for it to work. Otherwise no one will enjoy it.

@@dungeon-wn4gw - That's not a popular idea, but ti each their own...
There are some great films in the MCU, plus good shows like "Daredevil" an the first season of "Jessica Jones"
There are also some excellent DC live action shows _right now_ like "Doom Patrol", "Superman & Lois", or "Stargirl" that don't have much in term of nudity, excessive cursing ("Titans" do like to swear though, season 4 looks fun for now, good casting & charas brought in) and gory scenes, but are still high quality tier.
The "Watchmen" show from a couple years back was also a really solid season from DC.
We've had an are of relatively good natured DC, like the Christopher Reeves Superman movies, "Superman: TAS", Justice League/Justice League Unlimited, Smallville, The Flash tv shows (the 1990 & 2014+ ones) etc...
But it's always been balanced by Batman, which had the pretty grim first 2 Tim Burton movies, the graphically safe but pretty serious at times Batman:TAS, and the Nolan movies trilogy had some grim moments and a not very "happy feelings" atmosphere.
The Watchmen movie was another good example of more serious DC...
Recently we've gotten "Man of Steel" or Wonder Woman & even the "JL:Snyder Cut" don't have excessive gore and cursing and sex, so it seems like whatever you liked as a kid, there's probably already a good adaptation of that

Vigilante is a psychopath with a code, not a sociopath. Psychopaths are born, methodical and don't feel shame or anxiety. Sociopaths are built by circumstances, usually growing in a dangerous environment, they can be cured through therapy while psychopaths can't. They tend to have explosive wrath that makes them do unplanned violence and have disordered emotions. Psychopath don,t have empathy, while sociopaths try desperately to suppress it.

The show isn’t set “4 years in the future.” You are confusing the time line of his prison sentence with the time period between the events of The Suicide Squad and the events of the series. He had served nearly 4 years in prison by the time of the start of The Suicide Squad. We first see him on screen emerge FROM A PRISON CELL. When the season starts he is in a hospital recovery from his injuries incurred from the events of the film. They mention his recovery took only a few months. The series is set more or less today.
