No, the difference is neither the Mail Carrier nor Postmaster notified the Homeowners of withholding their mail. Thats a Federal crime. Both could very easily lose their jobs and the Federal Postal Service could be subject to a Lawsuit for illegally holding their mail. The Carrier could've just told them to call the Postmaster and officially request they don't knock or ring the bell. That's a very simple thing for them to do, and they'd be required to figure something out or risk discrimination against a Disabled Person. The Postmaster should've investigated and then notified, at the very least, the Homeowners. Not notifying them on purpose and withholding their mail is a crime. The Mail Carrier could've also changed routes (though they shouldnt need to of course since they were doing their job and were yelled at, but they're not 100% off the hook for not at least providing any information and purposefully ignoring a request that deals with special circumstances of a Disabled Person)
@@Servingourstories the only thing I disagree with is the discrimination suggestion. It's the homeowners responsibility to get their dog trained in that situation. After all they have the disability and chose the dog. PO gets F HO gets D-

No argument there, but it shouldn't have gotten to that point. The carrier had alternatives to provide service and not knock on the door. Saying that he had to knock os almost certainly a lie.
@@devillarratt4134 I worked as a mailman and got out less than a year ago. Based on the information given on the video and what I know of the post office there were alternatives to resolve this before it ever became an issue.
I agree. But the Postal Service shouldn't just stop delivering the mail without any notice or explanation to the homeowner, and then ignore the homeowner's inquiries.
I disagree. The postman has had to deal with difficult home owners before just like a bartender has had to deal with a difficult patron. Suck it up postman. Get some thicker skin, let the guy yell, continue on your route and forget about it.

I worked with a veteran. He had a sad end to his career. Walked up to a box on porch. Door was open. Screen door closed. And the Rottweiler just barreled through the screen door. I think he had small heart attack and stroke. Of coarse. They had hardly any money. So he didnt get much out of the whole ordeal.
Steampunk Wolf How about treat your carrier like you’re a decent person, don’t park in front of your mailbox, keep your dogs restrained, and just don’t be a general asshole?
They aren’t biting or doing anything wrong all they are doing is barking and he’s doing the wrong thing because they could not have gotten important mail like bills for example
Much as I love dogs, if the dogs were upsetting this guy when they were excited by the mailman, it might be conducive to his well-being to NOT have dogs around to upset him.
Even then, the family had plenty of alternatives to fix the problem, turn off the door bell, buy an anti bark frequency emitter, I got one for 20 bucks and I only had to use it once for my dog to quit barking! Think outside the box and fix your own damn problems it's not hard.
As a mail carrier, I thank you. I once had a woman file a complaint against me for not delivering her mail. When a neighbor's dog was out. I cant control your neighbors dog! I just dont want to be attacked.
Because they asked the mailman several times not to do that (no, that does not mean they should have been rude). But as an exmailman I can tell you they post office was in the wrong here.
I agree with safety, but safety would have never been an issue if the mail carrier would have worked with the family. I don't condone rude behavior but if there was a risk of physical harm then the post office would not have started delivering again. Leaving a notice in their mail slot to let them know the circumstances doesnt require the mail carrier to deal with them. Leaving notices for the packages would have solved the problem before it became a problem, and as a mail carrier you are aware thats not the only solution available. Its also unacceptable that no one told the lady how to recover her mail, she was literally at the post office. You ask her for her ID go get the tub with the mail, and let her know why the mail is not being delivered. I haven't worked on one post office where they wouldn't have known how to handle this. What would you do if one of your customer's asked you knot to knock or ring the doorbell? I know I've dealt with similar circumstances more than once.
I would tell them that the special mail is at the post office for now on. If a package comes that requires a person to be home for, it is at the post office. No need to go out of your way anymore. Too fucking bad about your dogs loser.
Yeah, really feel that service workers should be allowed to wear devices that record audio and video so you can see the type of shit they have to put up with from some people. Getting mail delivered to you isn't a right. If you want to be a piece of garbage and abuse the workers, you deserve to have deliveries ceased.
Thats an assumption, also unless you paid extra to ensure the package has to be received by someone in the household the Post Office doesn't take respomsibility, so complainimg wouldn't matter too much to them.
Plus, he could've easily just told them to call into his branch and officially request that to the Postmaster. Then there's documentation of that. He took no effort, and in a lawsuit a judge could possibly see his actions as antagonistic. The man had no right to yell at the mailman of course but then if the mailman felt unsafe the Postmaster shouldve reached out to investigate and/or notify the homeowners. The Postal employees purposely withholding mail is a Federal Crime, akin to somebody not authorized to open another person or entities mail. (Which if you didn't know is also a federal crime. I certainly made sure my dad knew that when I was 19 when he kept opening all of my mail, including bank letters and Hospital letters. Never did that again)
You can't blame other people if you have a naughty dog. I too have a small barking dog and sure enough every time the mailman comes he's barking at the door I've never once did I consider blaming the mailman for The Barking Dog

I was a carrier for many years, and any unsafe condition can lead to a stoppage of mail, broken steps or walk, dogs, people's attitude, etc. I had a house on my route who had a flock of geese loose in the yard, that attacked me and other carriers trying to deliver, so they were told that they had to move their mailbox to the fence. When they refused their mail was stopped by the Station Manager, and they had to come to the station to get their mail.
Ghosting the customers with concerns by the supervisor is not correct. Yes, I have been on both sides when it comes to issues. I dealt with issues when I was a RCA and a customer. I not going into the issues I dealt with when I was a RCA. I had 2 separate times that I paid for and requested my Priority Mail to be picked up at my home. 1st time I either selected front door or inside (knock on front door?). Mail came, they didn't attempted to retrieve the Priority Mail or even left a note. The Priority Mail was for a Federal C. Case that had a tight deadline. What the carrier did was they interfered with a Court Case, that was not legal. 2nd time was at a 10 story apartment building. Same thing as before, I ended up requested to have my Priority Mail to be picked up in my mailbox. Mail came, didn't picked up my Priority Mail. The Post Office did me right. On the same day (early evening), I sent USPS a message about the issue. Within 2 hours, they came back and picked up my Priority Mail. Ironically, the apartment I was living at the time was the old Federal Courthouse and Post Office.

@Brian The Explorer No it wouldn't. Mailpersons ring the bell if they are delivering a package that won't fit into the box. They do this for the recipient so it can be picked up before someone else spots it and takes it.
@Modding Error So you believe the mailmen should take a survey and determine how to approach each house on their route depending on the reactions of the dogs?

This kind of thing happens all the time. Customers being asses to the postman, get their mail held, and wonder what they did to have to pick up their mail. The minute you make it unsafe or unreasonable to deliver to you, we do NOT have to bring your mail.
Thats not a bad idea, but leaving a notice to pick up their packages from the post office is also a solution and we did get hammered on costummer service. It was a USPS fail.
Safety first period, if a carrier feels threaten by owner/pets/or unsafe condition, he can refuse delivery at that point. When I carried mail , all I did is pull out my cell phone , take a picture of the issue and document how unsafe it was. My station cut deliver for a whole entire city block for 4 months as the owner of a PIT bull did not care if it got loose. It was a nightmare for the other innocent residence of that block to have to pick up their mail at the post office because of an discourteous dog owner.
I understand why the carrier stopped delivery to their address. However, there is no excuse for not telling them that they can pick up their mail at the office. That's pettiness on the side of the management. There are protocols in place for everything that transpired here.
they should have simply handed her the mail at the post office and stated why they stopped and told her to pick it up at the post office for now on due to her son's behavior. There are a number of things they could have done previous to her son going off on the carrier. I wouldn't go back there with a barking dog and screaming mentally handicapped adult son either and I am a parent of a mentally handicapped adult child. They knew the dog would bark, they knew he was upset by it and the carrier was required to notify them by knocking or ringing the bell that he left a package. They could have done a few changes to help. They could have installed a flag that would pop up when the carrier came. The man could have put on earmuffs around the time the mail man comes, or the dog could have been taken out for a walk at that time. This is stupid.
It’s not funny, no one should be verbally abused when doing their jobs. If he hasn’t rang the bell, left packages and then they got wet or stolen then the family would be laying complaints as well!

I had an almost similar issue. We stopped receiving mail and after numerous calls to the post office managers and higher ups found it was because our mailman was “afraid” of our dog. We had someone come out to investigate because my house sits on an 8 ft foundation surrounded by about an approx 4 ft deck with a locked gate. The mailbox was on the ground about 6 ft from the house - the dog was nowhere near able to get to them. They ended up transferring the mail person to a different route. We also never received notice why they stopped
Both the mail carrier and the family are wrong. If a piece of mail needs a signature, they have to knock on the door or ring the door bell. Karen customer is not an legit excuse to stop delivering mail and refusing or ghosting the customers with concerns.

I had the exact opposite problem with a certain lazy and apathetic mail carrier... She refused to pick up a package because she "didn't see it on the porch"...even though the online request form included At Front Door, with a little box that welcomed extra instructions, where I typed "Please ring bell"... The other choices for pick up included On Front Porch, At Garage, At Side Door, At Back Door... Her manager lied and said they don't ring doorbells... I filed a grievance, and both carrier and manager twisted it all around and said I was a threat...making me go to the post office for my mail because the carrier was scared of me and refused to deliver to my address..! I contacted the main office with my grievance, and haven't seen that carrier since...I also heard the manager was no longer at that annex...
I spent about 4 years supervising in a delivery unit and strongly suspect the woman isn't telling the whole story here. Clearly, they were holding the mail at the office. I can't imagine that they wouldn't hand it over to her when she visited.
For those who don't know, certified post must be given to the recipient directly; this is because the sender pays an extra fee for a receipt that includes the recipient's signature. Generally the post carrier must leave a notice if they couldn't deliver it directly so that it may be picked up and signed for at the post office. In that sense, both sides are wrong. The post carrier does not need to deliver to houses they don't feel safe at, but the household should have received a notice. (arguably, the post office worker may have not felt safe delivering the notice though)

I had issues with mail for years, but mine was so bizarre. Some mail would get delivered, others not at all (and with little rhyme or reason why). So after this happening and getting no answers from my local carrier/post office, I called the national customer service line. It turned out my address wasn't in the national database as an actual address. Locally it was fine, but outside of stuff delivered from my own county, it would often get returned to sender at the main facility. There's no way for a customer to resolve this either. You just have to put up with it until someone decides to push an update on your address. It took mine more than 6 years to get resolved.

I totally understand if a carrier doesn't feel safe, but don't lie about getting bitten. Had that been true we would've have more repercussions than just having to go to the PO.

Much as I love dogs, if the dogs were upsetting this guy when they were excited by the mailman, it might be conducive to his well-being to NOT have dogs around to upset him.
Yes exactly
Even then, the family had plenty of alternatives to fix the problem, turn off the door bell, buy an anti bark frequency emitter, I got one for 20 bucks and I only had to use it once for my dog to quit barking! Think outside the box and fix your own damn problems it's not hard.
As a mail carrier, I thank you. I once had a woman file a complaint against me for not delivering her mail. When a neighbor's dog was out. I cant control your neighbors dog! I just dont want to be attacked.

@@tonis204does your mailman not knock or ring when you have a package or certified mail🙄 not everyday.
The guy admits accosting the letter carrier so why is this a story. There is too many nuts in the world who feel people have to take their abuse.

Safety is our main thing😎 Don't threaten me because I'm gone snitch on you. I don't feel safe.

Bet she never called. She could've picked up the mail at the office. I had to do that for Abit.
She did, they wouldn't help her.
They claimed that they do not have to deliver our mail because the carriers are all afraid of housecats - which run away from strangers.
"Have you seen my stapler"
"Your still workin here". Jajaja
A Mailmann deserves RESPECTED 😣
How old is the son? Still living home with mommy & daddy.
It's common in SF. Housing is so expensive that you have to have a professional class income to afford your own place. I didn't see any 'daddy.'
@@3506Dodge *the dad was mentioned as disabled. the dog barking disturbed him. that's what set the son off, because he couldn't understand why the mailman kept ringing the bell after being told not to.*
@@maddoxtolliver Why do you care?
@@3506Dodge *_'WHOA DUDE',_** relax. you said you didn't **_"see any daddy."_** just thought you missed it. **_#laterzz_*
@@maddoxtolliver That doesn't explain why you care.
That is completely the son’s fault. Autistic or not, an adult should know some decency to our public workers. If the dog barking is such a huge issue, get a P.O. Box at the post office or train your dog.
Just remember, when you control the mail, you control... information.
Rain, sleet, snow...but not hurt feelings!
It's the dog that has to stop barking. The mailman was in the right
I filed a complaint against my mailman for throwing box with $200 item in it. Next day he yelled at me from his mail van as I sat in my yard, challenged me to fight and said he was going to send gang members to my house and he's suspending my mail service. I filed another complaint, called the postal inspector and called the police. Yet so far he's still allowed to work the route my house is on and they told me I have to go to the post office for my mail.
They could put up a large mailbox...
...and pick up large packages at P.O.
Should of just left notice (3849) when the resident ask not to ring the door bell.
rag6476 company man 😂
He doesn't feel safe, can't blame him for that
Cant. Now its the new law. You must leave every package at the door. No 3849 can be used for a package unless sig. Conf, cert., or registered
@@a.c.guerra9850 or no access,no secure location, mailbox full, and quite a few other reasons.
Just leave a note saying don’t ring or knock
Sounds like theft of mail to me.
Not delivering it is NOT the same as theft. That's a really stupid view point. The mail was there, in the post office. Not stolen.
Why were you so rude to your postal person. You acted ridiculous. He is delivery mail. Your husband is your problem. You people are very very rude.
They didn't seem to be. From the report it also looks like tjey asked the mailperson not to knock, and he ignored it.
Delivery people have to put up with a lot of shit. The worse is people coming to the door with no cloths on.
I had that happen to be before.
Teaching the dog to not bark was apparently too hard. RIDICULOUS.
When I was a carrier we were told if we ever felt unsafe to report it to our Postmaster and then the Postmaster would contact the residents and tell them we will not be delivering mail, this is why and you will have to get a PO Box until the problem is fixed and then prove that it's been fixed
Postal employees have the right not to deliver if they feel threatened in any way, dog, people, getting stuck cause of bad driveway, road, etc. my wife is a rural postal carrier. you wouldn't believe the crap people complain about to the USPS, with all the online shipping these workers have to deliver very heavy packages!!
Postal workers are human beings they working all types of weather all year!they do not deserve to be physically or verbally abused! If a knock at your door or ringing your doorbell is disturbing then maybe you should have changed to pick up your mail at the post office!!
The delivery guys is correct, per company policy your required to knock or ring the bell. You can get reprimanded for not doing so.
Yes! They can, it is approved by the Postmasters...
As a carrier I approve this message. We go thru enough abuse verbally and physically y would we continue to put ourselves in that situation
The postman gave them the best karma and actually did WHAT THEY ASKED HIM TO DO!! Which is to NOT ring the doorbell and DONT KNOCK. So the easiest thing to do is make them come get there OWN mail where there not bothered.
First of all, if it bothers the disabled son......then why the flipping f@ck does he have this dang dog in the first place?? Smh
I had a reverse situation. I was washing my car and my dog was outside with me, but tied up on a short leash. The dog barked and I noticed the mail man walking on the sidewalk 50 feet away. I walked down and got the mail on the sidewalk. My dog was quiet. For 5 days I got no mail. I went down to the Post Office and was told the mail carrier had filed a complaint against me, but everything is fine because the mail carrier just retired.
Honestly if you can't handle dogs that job is not for you. Its no secret you have to deal with it and they make it clear when you apply.
I love my mail man Clark he always knocks if i have a big package he puts the boxes in a chair and all my mail in my box i have had a few 📦 stolen now he puts them in between 2 doors on side deck got a cct and camera but husband to dumb to install it
@Barbara Powell too many wires hole had to be drilled I paid a man to install it last Saturday I am FAR from a Dummy
Yeah... the mailman is right. And if I had to restart delivering their mail again, I would ring the bell ALL the time. Twice! LOL
I had this problem because we'd sometimes my JRT Bella would be outside but our mail carrier left a note with our mail one day that had a couple of prior dates written on it with "Bella was outside". I have an awesome mail carrier. The problem arises when she went on medical leave and the replacement didn't want to even deal with Bella and lied and said she bit him so we had to go get our mail from the PO for almost 3 months and sign a form saying we understood that we could be permanently denied home delivery if our mail if Bella caused an issue again. I totally understand if a carrier doesn't feel safe, but don't lie about getting bitten. Had that been true we would've have more repercussions than just having to go to the PO. I pretty much know our carriers delivery times so we make sure Bella is not out any time around that time or we are outside with her little fat butt leashed.
Okay so you sided with the guilty party. Mail provider was admittedly doing his job correctly. Resident was admittedly abusive.
Talk about a hit piece on the postal service.
Dont threaten the mailman!! And you will get your mail
