Ferrocells are neet. They are at best magnetic analogs to a hall of mirrors. Magnetic illusions complete with many distorted mirrors. Here's a simple experiment: Step 1. Take two cube magnets only because all faces are the same size, but really, any magnet will work for this experiment. Mark the sides that repell and attract. These are the magnetic poles. Step 2) Reduce the number of light sources in your ferrocell to one. Step 3) Place one pole facing down and move the magnet around. Step 4) Leave the magnet in place and walk around the ferrocell Step 5) Leave the magnet in place and move the light source. Repeat steps 3,4, and 5 with anyone of the cube's six nonpole faces on the ferrocell. Notice the bands of light move with respect to the magnet in steps 3-6. Hint: Neither magnetic field lines nor magnetic equal potentials change their position with respect to an isolated magnet's position in space, your position in space, nor the light source's position in space. If it is not already obvious, the light line in the ferrocell though effected by magnets do not represent any magnetic field lines, or magnetic equal potentials. I would hardly characterize ferrocell many light sourced spiraled illusions as "what's actually going on". They are more like magic tricks that fool the observer into believing something that's not real.
true but if You put nothing in front of mirrors then You get nothing, no? but if You put anything then it will change whatever You call or name illusion, same for what is going on with ferrocells :),, the anything is the magnet(s) and the change of the "illusion" is real ;)
no … we call it burning in. It means the magnet draws the ferrofluid to the glass where it sticks and doesn't release , leaving a mark where the magnet was.
Cool Stuff !! I wish there was more info regarding optimization. Not many talk about 'how it works' , so it wasn't until after I made the unit did I realize that the effect is more based on the way light bends and less regarding the magnetism. In this effect, both light path & magnetism are not mutually exclusive. We are not observing magnetism, but we are observing what is caused when magnetic ordering occurs in the semi-liquid/oil/mix. This may or may not depict the field. The lines are from the number of lights. The lines are the light beams. I seek to make the device more sensitive as my use case is for MUCH smaller mag fields. AC electromagnets of light currents. I will report back if I find significant improvements. Thank you for your contributions. Very much appreciated :)
yes the light beems are the result of the LEDs ... the more lights the more paths. a solid light source would produce a solid effect. The ferro particles are forming to the magnet field. I figure they would have to but it seems it is opposite to what iron filings do. If you go to my BitChute channel I combine both the iron filings and the ferrocell. I no longer upload to TH-cam.
