    Always cut the beard myself and using the pencil each and every time is definitely the way to go. Seeing the line before you trim and edge is so important to getting the exact look and beard line you want. Also just purchased a tri-fold mirror from Amazon to make sure it's even from all angles.

    This is so true. When I first started, I always had my cheek line above my lip/mouth area using an eyeliner pencil. After years of lining myself up, I just didn’t feel the need for it no more. Now my line is dropped about half an inch. like you said every now and then we make a mistake trying to get the perfect line on each side of the beard and we go back and forth on both sides trying to make them even and by the time you done, the line’s been dropped! Thank you for reminding us the basics, I’m taking it back with the pencil! Peace big homie ✌🏽

    I got a new system... foil shaver to mow down the growth (foils won’t cut old line), then using reg bic razor to clean up the left over bits... this is after using the pencil & straight razor for a year... I got the idea from the gray beard guy forget his name Bruno something.

    Biggest problem for me accidental dropping the beard line & then I cut it off & start over

  • @gmote886
    @gmote886 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is one of the many reasons why I’ve stopped putting a hard line on my cheeks. I leave my cheek lines natural and only line up the neckline now. Ever since I’ve started doing this, I’ve never encountered this issue. Obviously not having a hard line on your cheeks won’t make your beard look as sharp, but as I’ve grown I find the natural cheek line look to be much more mature-looking (grown man look) than having a sharp line. Plus sharp lines start to grow in after only a couple days anyway and start to look messy after that

    I do the same thing with my beard and mustache a lot, but I am getting better though. I have gotten a lot better though. I rather learn over time, then keep going to these half A barbers that I keep running into at different shops😤😤😤.

    Great video!! I’m in that process now. Would you recommend the cut buddy over the liner?

    • @Bthebarber
      @Bthebarber  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks you.. The cut buddy is a great tool for creating the line the first time. I’ll usually draw the line out free hand after. It’s makes it a lil quicker for me.✊🏽👊🏽

      Bthebarber my problem is that the right side is my beard has a higher line than the left side and trying to even it out on both sides is a pain.

    Hey d hide ive got 2 questions how often do I shape my beard if I'm growing it out.and should I edge once a week or every few days..thanks

    • @Bthebarber
      @Bthebarber  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Brenda Faye I edge my beard up every Friday fam. It’s different for everyone else depending on your job or what you’re doing. When it comes shaping your beard it all depends on your growth. I started shaping my beard once it reached a certain length.

      I wish I was blessed with a natural line like that. If I let my natural line grow out I’ll have hair growing up under my eyes!😂

    Hey, I'm in the middle of my growth. Lots of stragglers though. I'm Indian. I have a thick beard but it's very coarse and straggly. I shampoo it once every week with my normal hair shampoo and use argan oil every night and Balm in the morning. Should I cut the stragglers or let it grow?

    For me it's the damn neckline D! Also it's fading the hair from the beard into the shaved bald head. I end up giving up and shaving off altogether.

    How long it took for your beard to grow?

    • @Bthebarber
      @Bthebarber  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jose Moronta been growing my beard for the last 3 years. It probably took me a lil over a year to reach the length I’m at now. I’m always cutting it back, so I really don’t know what my full potential is and to keep it 💯 I’ll probably never find out.✊🏽👊🏽

    As a professional barber with a beard I understand the struggle.
    The cheek line of a beard is the most subjective thing in barbering. Most people say get my line tight, not I want it 3 centimeters above the lip line. The only way you can take the quesswork out of it is with a marker. But there will be that cat that will come with the line all ready drawn on. WITH NO HAIR AT THE LINE. And if you touch it blame you for his geriatric situation. Lol
