HUGE Police Response-2 Bearcats, SWAT Units, Unmarked Units, And More Respond Code 3!

- During the late afternoon of Wednesday, July 7, 2021, a Sacramento Police Department officer initiated a traffic stop on a stolen vehicle in Southeastern Sacramento. The vehicle failed to yield to the officer, and led the officer on a pursuit through the Fruitridge neighborhood of Sacramento, traveling at speeds of up to 50 miles per hour on residential side streets. At numerous points during the pursuit, the driver fired shots from an automatic handgun at pursuing officers. After a short time, the suspect turned down a dead-end side street and footballed from the vehicle, hiding under vehicles in a driveway. SWAT and K-9 resources were called to the scene, as well as aircraft from SPD and multiple neighboring jurisdictions. The suspect was eventually located by the resident of the house he was hiding near, who was monitoring the situation via security cameras. Once it became apparent that he had been located, the suspect ran into the backyard of a different residence, where he shot out the sliding glass rear door and entered the home. The resident of that home was able to escape unharmed. As armored units moved into position, officers evacuated the nearby homes and the Crisis Negotiation Team attempted to contact the suspect. During these operations, the suspect fired multiple shots at the armored "Bearcat” SWAT vehicles. After a standoff lasting over 3 1/2 hours, the suspect finally agreed to surrender to officers, thanks to the efforts of the CNT and the suspect’s sister, who also spoke to him via phone. No major injuries were reported, however the suspect did suffer a minor cut on his hand at some point during the incident. The suspect will likely be charged with felony evasion, attempted homicide on officers, and possession of illegal firearms. The Sacramento Police Department handled the incident with the assistance of the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department, the Elk Grove Police Department, the California Highway Patrol, and the Sacramento Fire Department.

Unmarked Chevy Caprice: Tiny red dot on the top of the windshield and very loud sirens - I bet those cars that pulled over were like “Which car is making that noise?”

@@WardenOfTheGreatSaltLake In Canada I was pulled over by a little Chevy Aveo with no lights or flashers at all. Just a siren, 2 guys in plain clothes passenger flashed a badge. Didn't actually believe they were cops and was having an argument with them through our windows. Then a provincial cop car (state police equivalent) showed up a minute later, super fast too, and then I knew they were for real lol.
Seriously why even bother? Code 3 vehicles should have adequate lighting that’s ridiculous.
Probably one of your best response videos I've seen, you were in an awesome spot for a huge variety of units all using some wicked sirens. Fantastic catches and awesome video!

To sum the description up: guy gets pulled over in a stollen vehicle gets in pursuit and fires a auto pistol (no injuries) then goes down a dead end hides then breaks into home when found, holds up for 3 1/2 hours then surrenders

The problem is CA’s steady red light law. All you’re technically required to have is one steady red burning light forward facing. Nobody can see you when you do that! Adding at least one flashing blue light would be a start.
@@jazzbutterworth size of the light plays a big part there. many little LED modules don't have enought footprint. But if you Double up a module even, it can help. Alot of groups are going back to larger lights. Not for massive brightness, but output footprint. Whelan 400's are the smallest I would go. Especially for sunny locations.

Those unmarked Caprice's looked cool, but yeah, they could've used just a little more lighting overall. Maybe a couple of l.e.d.'s in the grill and a couple on the rear deck, at least. Although I would guess those are unmarked administrative units.
People who refuse to move for law enforcement or emergency vehicles should have the footage reviewed after the incident and get a $1,000 fine in the mail with a photo of their vehicle and tag. Second offense, $5,000 fine. Third offense, your license privileges are terminated for 3 years in all states.

Funny thing is, I live near fruitridge, its about a 13 min drive. This explains the enormous amounts of sirens coming from around me along with a helicopter.

I’m not sure if units staged for the duration of the incident. However, Fire Station 10 is located very close to the scene.

Chevy Caprice it think is how you spell it. I bet they weren’t normally being used but for whatever call this is, they needed all officers on and off duty, so they probably ran out of cars and pulled those bad boys out.

Well uh, literally THE ONLY vehicles they had were the little chevys and a ton of explorers. Here we use chargers, Tahoe/suburbans, explorers, and have random unmarked vehicles like 2010 brown dodge rams lol

Good question. I forgot their name, but they make Fedex trucks and Taco trucks also. People keep saying ice cream truck jokingly, but I never see these type of vehicles used as ice cream trucks. There usually chevy vans (astro vans) or dodge ram vans.
