Bit of PTSD isn't always a bad thing. Let it out! Glad you are straight back into things. Pushing your limits. Thinking about picking one up is enough to keep those of us who pre-empt the future on the path to u turns. 😅 Take some training, its good to refresh in a safe environment away from traffic with someone watching and pointing out things! The Academy of offroad riding near batemans bay is highly recommended. I rode dirt bikes from the age of 4 until I was 16 (nothing over 250cc) then got into MTB and didn't ride a single motorcycle for 27 years. Then at 43, got back into it and ended up on the AT. Its a totally different discipline of riding on a big bike and a training course and group rides are the best avenue! Enjoy the bike mate. I have had more than a couple of em. I hear you said you are making some plates to fit Kriega kits. I've had the Enduristan luggage for some time. One particular piece that lives on my bike and never comes off is the Enduristan Tailpack (small). It is as though it was literally made for the 790/890 std rack, fits like a glove on the stock carrier, doesnt move an inch and is perfect for things like a small pump, puncture plugs/repair kit, etc etc that you always want to have with you even when commuting. Easy to secure a duffel bag and tent in front of it as it provides great rear support for strapping down with rock straps. GPS, its so much easier to run the gps power to the connectors at the rear under the seat than to start fiddling with the headlight to get to the ones up front. Just run the lead down the stem and along the frame where it wont chafe. 2 options both upfront and at the back (1 and 2) Cant remember which is which but one is constant power with ignition on, thats the best option. (Manual will say.
Hey mate! Yeah loving this thing now for sure! It was a toss up between Enduristan and Kriega. This prototype luggage rack should fit both and keep the bags off the fairings and exhaust, keeps them nice and high as well. I've got the OS-12 single sitting on the KTM luggage rack for now, just for small trips and the Enduristan 4H tankbag is a good fit too!! This TH-cam algorithm is a weird one, you never know what gets the views, bloody strange! I do this cause it's fun though! Bring on the next ride!
Dude, I've been on bikes since 1980, most were 2 stroke, none were slow. I have never owned a bike with ABS, and my last bike was a 1988 FJ1200. Do yourself a favour, and buy a DT175. Get out into a forest or paddock, and thrash it till you can ride that bike to its absolute capacity, and you need something bigger. By the time you master the powerband, braking and top speed of the DT offroad, you will have the basic skillset you need to start getting good miles on an expensive bike. Trust me on this.
Good advice indeed, just can't do the rego and insurance for two bikes, not cost effective in this climate. I've been riding since 1992, mostly road bikes so seeing these new advances are good. Will be hittung up Luke George, MotoTrekkin and RideADV for training courses, its always good to get some training under the belt.
@ADVBrett I was thinking a cheap $900 paddock basher, not a registrable bike. Something just to get good offroad without the expense. You can always flog it off for the same price after you're done with it, DTs hold their value

How's the ktm compare to the Africa twin. Considering selling my Africa twin for something smaller/lighter. So far im leaning towards cfmoto 450mt.
@@JamieBroughton70 The 450MT is a serious contender for anyone wanting to downsize. I loved having a little jaunt on one a while ago.
As for the 890, even though we started off on the wrong foot, she's Impressing me more and more each time I take her out. Off road it's a totally different game, you can really feel the weight difference and that combined with the tech and power delivery, I'm glad I down sized for sure!
Cheers for the reply. Hope alls well after the accident hang in there the confidence and ability will be shakey for a while been there twice. But we are still upright, keep riding, and doing what we love. Fyi, the watagans are on the to-do list.
Cheers Jamie!! Yeah do the Watagan's for sure, it's a great challenge and plenty to see up that way! We'll do it again but aim to leave via Murrays Run.
How come you turned around bro? Was the gate on another track? Trust in the force to guide you Padwan. And by that I mean trust that the bike will easily do whatever you will want it to. So you went with the Green Hornet manservant naming route ay?🤔 Very astute decision my wise friend. KATO will have your back for sure. Isn't it ironic that your bike is made in China. Did ya see my last weekends ride video series? TH-cam is a fickle mistress, a video of some ducks splashing around got more views than my riding. I know I'm a pathetic rider. But really guys? Glad you made it out rubber side down. And it looks like the difficulty of the terrain you are riding has stepped up a few levels. You've been training in secret havn't you? Don't lie. I can tell. All the OH DEAR this bit is gunna be so DIFFICULT. OH MY What ever will I do, as you fly through it smooth as silk, ya didn't fool me mate. P.S. You are more fatigued because your riding harder for longer now on KATO.👍 YOU DUN GOOD YOU RUN STRONG.
Nah, this was it for my day, I know my limits and even though I'd pushed them through the day, it was time to wrap it up. Especially when out solo.
This 890 is Austrian made, the new 790's are coming out of Chine and the 2025 890's might start being produced there.
This TH-cam algorithm is a weird one, you never know what gets the views, bloody strange! I do this cause it's fun though! Bring on the next ride!
KATO is still a good name though.
@@TorquilBletchleySmythe Yeah that;s true, there's not a lot of places around here we can ride an unregistered bike which makes it a little painful. If the option was there for a second bike, I certainly would've done that though.
Great ride, you got it dirty a couple of scratches but you challenged yourself ,well done. The three amigos will be riding again before you know it😉❤ 🦘.
Absolutely mate and we can't wait to get back out there some more!! This 890 is going to teach me a thing or tow for sure!
