Love your videos very good. Is there any advice you would give to beginner bass ukulele player with some jazz experience on piano. As it is hard to know where to start? The aim is towards playing jazz bass lines. P.S thy can read music too. Keep your videos coming. Thanks
Definitely memorize the note names! Start with open through the fifth fret on each string, as many bass lines can be played with just these notes! Then branch out from there. The one thing that's interesting going from piano to a string instrument is that there are multiple ways to play the same pitch in the same octave! This can be confusing to know which one to use at times, but allows you to play some lines without having to jump all over the fret board. I have a beginner warmup video on one of my play lists...it will help a lot with technique.

Hey, i had a question. I found a bass, the Mirco Bass 23 from Gold Tone. Do you think you would recommend it? It has the same strings as a Ubass, but it's a little bit bigger
Robin Van Der Craats I have yet to play one, but people that have them seem to like them. I imagine that the longer scale would increase the string tension, making the strings less floppy/apt to buzz. Ohana also has a slightly longer scale Uke bass if I'm not mistaken. Thanks for watching!

Would you recommend a Makala UB-15 U-Bass? It is a cheap Kala one for £170
I didn't know there was a Makala one...now I think they replaced it with the cheapest Kala models. I'm sure it's fairly good if it's part of the Kala line!

Damn that bass sounds smooth!! What are amplifying that with?
I plug it into a focusrite scarlett solo interface...and eq it a tiny bit on Garage band. Then I mix that with the mic recording.
There's no speaker involved.

Zara Lindholm Brandt On the program I notated it on, I wrote it after notating "I Want You Back" ...so those are "courtesy accidentals." Just disregard them...sorry for the confusion. :)
What kind of Tune do you use?
The U-Bass is tuned to EADG like a bass guitar (same octave).
