I've still got my 1210 mrk5 G's.Had them now for about 15years & still work perfectly,I've never had any problems with them.Only thing is can't get them to sinc perfectly for double ups.I love the look of the mrk7 thanks for the info man.bless
I’m happy with my MK2s. Bought them brand new in 2005 to replace the Stanton STR8-60s I had since 1999. The Technics still work perfectly, the pitch faders are matched, and I’m never gonna get rid of them. They stay safe in my Odyssey flight cases. Best decks ever.
I’ve got 1210s which I purchased in 1988. They have been stored in a shed since I moved into my new house In 2012. I currently use Numark NS7 Mk2. But miss my 12 inch platters. I’d rather drag my 1210s out the shed, get them serviced, cop some Phase than spend that kind of money on the new Technics
This was more of a Technics video and you didn’t really go into the Reloops at all. Reloop is also coming out with their Elite mixer which looks like a direct challenger (possibly) the the djms9. I’ve had the djms9 and the original reloop 8000s for a couple years now. No issues at all and it’s convenient to have some controls on the turntables itself (pitch play, loop rolls etc). Love your videos my dude. Very informative and honest. Also appreciate the Phase update.
Thanks Douglass! I didn't even know about the Elite until I saw your comment, finally Pionner and Rane have competition in the expensive battle mixer market.
@@TheAnunnaki-NYC Doesn't everyone use the same OEM thought? Or is it just relloop? As long as they add enough valuable features to it im fine with it. Who cares who makes it as long as it does/have what we want.
@@D-One That's the thing Hanpin take all the features and designs from the Technics 1200 and makes their own version of it and brands just buys the rights to them and just chooses a color scheme and slight design differences to make them distinguishable from other brands. For example. Audio-Technica's lp120 is a Hanpin turntable and is also the same design that is shared by the Gemsound DJL-2500. The only difference is one has VTA and the other one doesn't. Reloop 6000 series is the most used Hanpin turntable. American Audio HTD 4.5, same unit. What I'm trying to say is the brands really have saying in what color or material they are made of and if one includes a 45-adapter or if the tone arm is black or silver. That's it. Wow & flutter...etc Torque is all determined by the turntable maker not the brand. So when people give credit to the brand they are missing the fact the brand had nothing to do with the design and features that matter the most to the DJs.
@@TheAnunnaki-NYC Oh, informative. I see your point. However... I own a 2 Technics 1200's and a Reloop 8000, the reason I got the 8000 was the MIDI pads it has, Hanpin technically makes them but Reloop put the Pads In and brought it to market so I give credit to the company that offers me what I want whoever makes it or bought the patent is irrelevant to me as a customer.
I have mk5s and Stanton str150. My Stanton’s stay on my booth my techs are in the attics covered with cases. No way will I go for techs at that price. Plus I really want the reloop rp-8000 and can buy two for 1 tech price
Love my Stanton STR150s....so many people slept on them. I would consider the Rane12s cause I want the new shiney toys. but the Stantons always call me back. had them for nearly 10 years
I got the RP 7000MK2s which are quite the same as the 8000s execpt for the midi buttons... the pitch is much more sensitive to micro adjustments. I play electronic music and when you get the right pitch, they stay in sync.
I've transitioned from 1200's to controllers in the last few years...but these reloops make me want to jump back into the turntable world.I think the Rane Twelves look awesome but I honestly don't see the point outside of using them at home...what club is gonna have them in house?
I have two of the 1200 MKll and will stick with those. I don’t DJ enough with vinyl as much as I used to. More for me to enjoy or a special type of event where I need vinyl. I like using them at home now. Thanks for the share out.
Great as always bro! In 2024, I would wait for new standalone. There are some rumors about Denon 6000m+, I hope a better stand alone! With one deck, you have 2 turntables, an ssd bay, and also you can turn off the motor if you prefer only mixing. That is the older 6000. I hope the new one will have even more goodies! And at least for me, this is better choise than turntables!
I'm rockin Numark S7iii. I don't own any vinyl although I started mixing with vinyl. I'm holding out fa awhile in hopes that Technics create a 12" digital controller. If not, then I'll be a player for a 2nd Gen Rane possibly. Imma let u test Phase........ If it ever come out lol
I still have my Technics turntables I bought back in 1995 and I used the hell out of them in the 1st 10 years and although I've hardly used them in the last 10 years they're still in great condition and there for me to use whenever I want, great fkn turntables! I have one Technics 1200 (grey) and one Technics 1210 (black), with the original Ortofon concord grey cartridges I bought with the turntables, of course not the same needles though lol, I've replaced those several times since 1995, specially in the 1st 10 years when I used them a lot.... I remember I got the grey one for like $400 & I think the black one for like $450, back in the day at Astro audio & lighting in Glendale California... but that was after haggling with the sales man for a couple of hours. Lol I got out of the whole DJ thing in the early 2000's when I got an MPC 2000XL and got more into making beats, still using my tables all the time for sampling and sometimes to scratch a hook, just not for DJing anymore .... but after seeing all this cool new DJ technology in the 2010's I started getting interested in the DJ thing again and in 2014 I got myself a MacBook Air laptop and a Pioneer DDJ-SR controller with Serato and I love this new DJ technology, no more searching through crates and switching records, or carrying a limited amount of records and no more skipping needles.... I love vinyl but I don't miss those damn skipping needles or warped records at all! Lol The main thing I like about all this new DJ technology is the instant access to your music library, the 8 cue points, 8 mpc style rubber pads per deck, echo delays, filters, visual display of the sound waves, not having to get doubles of the same song and no more skipping needles! :) Now my plan is to sell my DDJ-SR and replace it with the Pioneer DDJ-SR2 or the upcoming Mixars Primo, because those controllers have a built in analog mixer, so i plan to hook up my old turntables to the controller and I will have the old school DJ technology and the new school DJ technology, the best of both worlds and bring new life to my turntables with Serato and a DJ controller!!! :)
Ok on a budget I would to get into turntablist I have a controller right now but willing to invest I found a pair of reloop on hhv. For 390 a piece I also found a pair of DJ tech turntables for 329 a piece which would be the best
Right now will be the perfect time for Numark to release the Ns74 if they planning to continue with the series which to me by far is my to go 2 in the controller game and sound great and great mic pre with clean gain
I am almost strictly a vinyl DJ, so the new MK 7s will be a welcome addition to my home. I am currently using a pair of MK2s. If I go digital, I would go with the new Denon Prime 4- Stand-Alone 4 Deck controller.
Where do you pick up top 40 songs on vinyl nobody wants to hear oldschool at new parties today???? This leaves you no choice but to use the new systems vinyl is still going to end up taking a back burner unless new music is pressed
Cleveland Terry Bowens exactly the reason why a new turntable by technics for the ridiculous price of $1200 is not reasonable enough to buy it i’m willing to carry several crates just like the old days but I must have new music you can only play old-school for at least 10 minutes at a time at a five hour gig more or less so it’s not worth it to me to haul more equipment I rather use a controller and Serato it’s just so much easier to set up get the job done and move along when you’re done let’s face it hauling crates and turntables it’s just a thing of the pass I think it’s going to stay there unless vinyl releases bring back top 40s
I spin classic rock on vinyl (even harder to find parties for that). But I am buying them just to treat myself. I did test a few controllers and was able to figure them out, in a matter of minutes, but I still prefer real vinyl (not DVS). My MK 2s still work great, but sometimes it is just time for an upgrade.
I think you should buy whatever you want. I know that it's likely overkill for these tables but so what. You have one life right? I'm about to buy a ddj 1000 and my sx2 works fine. Why, because I want to. Lol.
I'm wondering, with the changing dj technology, how long will this "standard' hold up. Since this has become a niche market, I foresee most dj's going for more inexpensive options. Unlike back in the day, these new options are as good / better than 1200's and way less expensive. So who may turn out to be the new "standard?"
Technics came out with a cd player with motorised platter , but wasn’t a big success . So they did have the no tonearm already that You could use with serato , with the timecode cd
weight loss !? mass = isolation. said to have a laminated chassis of plastic and aluminum. But do they still have the rubber base ? doubt it . we'll see in the first tear down
My 1210’s are approaching 25yrs. I was hoping to purchase these turntables for the next 25, but $1200 is a little too steep. Also, didn’t Shure stop production on the M-447’s?
The reason why alot of higher end companies don't like to internally ground the turntables it is because there may be noise that may manifest from the rca cables. Separating the ground cable from the rca isolates any kind of noise to the unit.
RadioKilla07 that makes sense if you’re an audiophile, or mix with vinyl, but most people aren’t using the turntables to play hi fidelity recordings. The software can get around any additional noise.
@@ClevelandTerry I get it, You're reply is coming from a DJ perspective. But I will have to beg to differ on you saying "most people aren't using turntables to play hi fi recordings." Vinyl has made a huge comeback making up 38% of overall record sales from the labels. That is huge, and not too mention the amount of companies today that are making Turntables today to cater to this market. Now I DJ with 1200's as well as using a Pioneer controller, and I'm fairly open to the technology that fascinates me, but the truth is the Vinyl Market is still so massive that companies like Technics, Pioneer, Reloop, Numark etc can still put out turntables to not just cater to the Avid Vinyl Lister but to the Purist DJ Culture which is huge in Europe, Japan Australia and India. Such things like this catches the attention to electronics companies to cater to them and just average vinyl listeners. So I wouldn't assume that most DJ's is using software based platforms like Serato, Rekordbox,Tractor etc. Maybe here in Canada and US we've come to go that route more but the rest of the world have different perspectives on the Art of DJing and I respect that. I'll keep my audiophile side out of this reply haha! Anyhow love your video's and keep up the good work, nice to see the brothas doing some DJ videos.
Hello I'm looking for a suggestion on turntables. I don't want to scratch, no gadgets old school mixing like in the 80s. I've narrowed it down to three models... Vk12 prime, reloop 7000mk2 or technics mk7? The prime looks amazing, the reloop has extra features and cheaper, while technics is the original straight up... I use to spin on mk2s in the late 89s early nineties...uts a whole different ball game now 😊😊😊
Top notch video Terry, very insightful while focusing on DJ’s needs, wants and the technology. I’ve been DJing for 32 years and owned my fair share of crappy, belt driven turntables (Realistic, Gemini, Pioneer). My first Technics turntables were used 1100’s. I sold the 1100’s, begged, borrowed and stole enough money to buy a pair of 1210 MK2’s. I still have and use the 1210’s a couple times a week. In 27 years I have not replaced a thing on them. I’ve only had them cleaned and calibrated a couple times. They are amazingly stable, reliable and have an at home feeling. Also as a long time night club DJ, In the 90’s club owners wouldn’t always choose 1200’s but was always relieved when I saw they had. I’m going to wait to see the reviews, please get your hands on one to review. If the reviews are great, I’ll sell two 1210’s and upgrade. It would be nice to purchase and experience a brand new pair of 12’s.
If you mix vinyl don't replace the 1210s , you will regret it, digital pitch control is not acceptable, digital just isnt accurate enough for flawless long transitions and mixes .
Digital pitch sucks !!! My first turntables were 1200MK2 used. When they discontinued, I sold them to buy some new turntables, but I bought the 1210M5G (digital pitch) without having read opinions first and when I tried it I realized that they were totally unstable and could not keep a mixture for more than 20 seconds without Having to be on top of them fixing the beatmatch, but did not want to sell them because they were too beautiful, until this years bored and I bought back some 1210MK2 used in good condition and God, really are wonderful to mix with them!!! The difference is very noticeable!!! Now I'm selling my M5G because I really got bored, even if they're the cute girl from Technics. If in these MK7 still not correct the problem of the digital pitch as in the M5g, I sincerely doubt that spend money on them having my reliable MK2 again ❤. Sorry my English, i'm from Chile and i speak spanish
Reloop has really stepped up their game. They made a nice mixer to go with their turntables. I think we’re in a new era today. Turntables are gaining popularity over controllers. Or ??? It could be that that’s all I watch and like. Regardless, the rane 12, phase, 72 with the touch screen, mk7, were in a new era with turntables
"Tone arm lock breaking",...LOL! Man! I recall getting into Dee Jaying back in the day,...while stationed in Norfolk VA,....and I remember purchasing my first 1200 MK II from an electronics store,...for around $650,...you're right about their durability! The damn thing should have won a Pulitzer design award!
Terry, we will wait for your thought on the Reloop 8000s. About the rest my opinion is that for me it comes down to money and what's practical on today world, plus like they say "When you die you can not take anything you bought with you" I'm more interested on the Reloop 8000s but honestly I was expecting no tone arm or a digital tone arm. I also hope that pioneer get the message and get them self to build their gear with spinning platter or something like the Reloop 8000s but with a digital base tone arm so the turntable look is kept but it will have the digital benefit.
Didn't really mention anything about the Reloop technology and what they have to offer. I personally value your opinion/reviews on DJ tech so I was kinda hoping you'd be able to go more in depth with the Reloop 8000mk2 and possibly their elite mixer. Heavily debating between the Rane 72 + 12 setup or Reloop setup due to the instrumentation side they're going for. I'm tired of seeing DJ Angelo reviews lol he's not going to say if Reloop is shitty or not. Pleaseeeeeee help a brotha out.
Bruh,....I'm thinking about getting back into "DJ'ing,...as a hobby,....and I'm really feeling that Denon DJ Prime 4,....as you see no PC or Mac is required with that unit,.... What do you think about it? Fyi,...I come from the days of 6-to-7 crates of wax! Your feed back is much appreciated.... ...just subscribed!
I rather by some Reloop 8000 MK2s. Price is too high for those Technics. Technics gotta step up their game with Technology and features. Wont be surprised if they go bankrupt again
Good luck holding value with your Reloops and good luck also renting them , while with Technics you will always be able to sell them and rent them and you will never loose money with Technics (made in Japan) , i dont think the mk7 will hold value because it is not Japan made anymore...but the GR will hold a lot of value and you can always rent them and re-sell them with ease. Nobody uses Reloop in Ibiza/Berlin or big events, be real man, Reloop is for kids not PROs.
@@djxsquizit no problem, good luck with Reloop, i'm sure it will bring you lots of satisfaction, it is a high end professional turntable, that will be used all season in ibiza and that will be sold like gold Rolexes in the future, a classic ! ;)
tehniks is ok in club but nothing special for home listening dumping all to extreme is not the way to hifi gummy metallic klang 4000 ok for home i put tin wire under platter loosed bit bearings more relaxed sound but not reccommend to touch if you dont know how it responds more bass and tape like sound you must do it by ear , made natural skin mat listened and kompered prefered felt and even this 2 sides sound different logo up is better so skin under and felt up dumpens motor to, its hearable but not transfers to needle, quarts lock dont stay on 0 more when 30sec it moves one dot per min its little for listening but i had hifi belt with strobe if it wears at end of record you find it moves fast up or down dont like belts and rubber wheels, mine came with ortofon turbo 8mv like it dont feel need to some over 100€ cart, antiskating rides to center on smood platter but it actually works also do by ear bit more then counterwaight, at beginnig thinked maybe i dumpen somehting inside wery clean accurate work not comperebale to early tehniks so desided not to mess, tonearm is not ringing friend has garrard with sme but his snobe i try find out why something is like it is inexpencive way, goldplating silverwires just makes sound duller best is pure brass you lose rock sound
Thanks for the review and BTW ROTFL at the angry mob attacking the car..nice comedy addition to drive your point Cleveland...as always keep up the great work ...respect to you from the East coast dj AKB ..
I hope technics comes down on the price a little bit cuz i wana buy a pair of mk7’s so bad! & hopefully technics can make a matching mixer with serato built in & phase integration.. Or maybe a technics midi controller to replace the dicers
The black tonearm, the red/blue switchable lights, the coreless motor... It really does look sexy. $1200 is alot though. I love my PLX's to death but I still want a pair of techs... Maybe I'll pick up a used pair when dudes start selling them to fund the new joints.
10:53 Technics SL-DZ 1200's digital turntables were way ahead of their time without a tonearm and pretty much check off what you were asking for. Too bad they were SD and CD based though (even though some people have Serato Time Code files on SD and work just fine with DVS). Although the largest criticisms were their digital fidelity on slow drags was a little wonky back and sound dated, not sure how it sounds with Serato Time Code through DVS though. Wonder if they plan on adapting the old design in the future.
the Rane Twelves got a shit tonne of hate when people saw pictures and even when early demos were shown but if i had the money i would already have a pair though it might be a good idea to see what they follow up with
almost 2 years after this video but I just ordered an 8000 MK2 + Numark Scratch, imho a solid starter setup. But more importantly, I got both non factory sealed for the price of a 1200 MK7. I would have loved a Reloop Elite + MK7, but too much $$$$$ for me. Even at the current $999 price the Technics are still pretty damn pricey next to the competition.
More than likely going to be Reloop 7000mk2 for me, or Rane 12. I’m struggling with the decision because I still want to be able to throw real records on here and there. 🤦🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
Too little too late at a too high price. The only reason I would get these Technics is for the nostalgia factor. They shitted on the DJ's and tried their luck with the rich audiophile market and it seems that didn't work out and now they want to backtrack and milk the Dj market? Hell naw.
Agreed. Plus the $400 Audio Technica 1240 is a superb turntable, with same performance and more features than a $1200 Technics. You're right, this is a big dis to the dj community, especially considering the financial status of the average dj.
@@DJWeeMix How do they rate against the 1200's? I had some Gemini PDT6000's that gave Technics some serious competition, with more features at about $200 each when I bought them. Just like Gillette, I think Technics has shot themselves in the foot
ok ... nice video i would think the best price and they would move a lot $500.00 guys like myself would get those next ... keep your content on point . i think you and find it great what your doing. keep on doing your thing brother . outstanding !!
so when you buy a BMW or Audi make sure there not made in other country than Germany. other OEMs don't have to follow high quality standards and requirements of the original manufacturer.
I think the high price tag is just because it's a technics, which means it WONT DIE, most Technics have had multiple owners and still work since they left the factory, my 1997 M3Ds still work AMAZING 🔥,
I have a set of custom 12’s and a set of Scranton str8’s.... I have a Rane 64 and a S9.... I think I’ll pass on the new 12’s... but they look cool though.... Great videos btw..
I’ve own the 1200, and there first 1210. Love them. And I payed $300. Each for the 1200 brand new back in the early 90s. And $400. For the 1210 back in 99. I freaked the fuck out when I heard technics went crazy to start charging over the thousands for remodels they suck. I’ve waited for years to get me a set of tables, and now they so much money. Shit I got the money but damn. I got over 15 crates of Records from back in the days, still holding on to them. Equipment is a dime a dozen, especially with the technology growing. But Records classics and old school records are really hard to find.
they are just slightly updated versions of what went before.I have two sets of Technics and i will never sell them but the mk7s are way too expensive for not enough of a change.I could get two reloops for one mk7.I have had early Stanton str8s vestax pdxd3s soundlabs citronic belt drives. The Technics though the simplest are the best but my Str8s which i took everywhere had more features which i found very useful. The only reason i dont still have them was because some idiot drowned them in a glass of beer. They were also the most beautiful decks i ever had.I would like the next model on but i am not sure where i could put them.
You can by two 1210's and a pioneer 450. Mixer and xp01 for 2000. That's what you should buy period. If you have the doe. Go for it. But I rather be smart and get more for the buck . Reloop mixer and two turntables coming out is more a sweet deal to me
My initial thoughts on the announcements 1) Technics are still stuck 20 years in the past 2) $2400 a pair??? Fat chance!!! I'd rather get the SC5000's (with dual layer I might add). 3) Loving the tidied-up button layout on the RP8000Mk2 4) Would love to see Reloop bring out their take on the Nexus.
Its a good turntable but time will tell if the build quality will be as durable as made in Japan models.Reports of the buttons being not as substantial as GR in reviews..but sound quality is there apparently.
To be fair the direct competitor on technics from reloop was the 7000,the 8000 was the shot reloop gave on making the digital serato version of sl1200. My opinion is that reloop has it good, yet the debate is not with a clear winner if you wont consider the price. If reloop heard more the feedback they would be on top. Same thing with portabolism if they hear the feedback reloop they will be the top.
As an ex DJ who now loves a bit of audio I am still rocking my MK2 and they are solid. However the new 1200's are not really DJ turntables but audio turntables with DJ usability. They are far the best Direct Drive turntables from an audiophile perspective and with a good Eliptical cart and stylus can hold up to more expensive belt drive audio decks and sound way better than Pioneer or re-loop. You can then swap out the cart for a spherical concord or Shure M44-7 (or whatever floats your boat), whack up your weight to 4g and set your tracking to 0 for your scratching/mixing. I do agree that for just DJing fk £1000 but in the audio world its not expensive and it would be considered mid range at best. I am going to invest in a pair but pointless until I upgrade my speakers and amp or get some nice active speakers.
I loved my Technics MK2s for decades. But i had to sell them when my kids were born. I'm getting back into it but Technics is out of thier mind with the new prices. For the first time since the 80's Im switching turntable brands. I'm going with Reloop this time.
Mixers are way more complex these days for using dj software so its going to happen to turntables.Mixers have midi ,effects both hardware and software, so its the same risk for them as it is for turntables or cdjs, media players ,or controllers,.I doubt that Reloop rps are as well built as the mk7s but it rather depends on your needs and your bank balance.
I use traktor and have 8000s and z1 mixer and the midi controlls are a god send I can use two turntables as 4 at the press of two buttons which switch selected track and fader assignment,I also have key lock on/off for each deck and the loop recordsr controls.
That digital pitch part is 100% incorrect. Digital pitch still has all those micro-adjustments PLUS it displays down to the 10ths what the pitch is on. It also holds the value instead of having flutter & wow. Pioneer rant - some turntables aren't internally grounded if the signal wire isn't directly connected to the chassis ground. There are several reasons for that, which usually cause humming when internally grounded. 1) Amplifiers resistively earthed, a quite common practice to minimise earth loops caused by having two (or more) channels, and having to earth each one via separate paths Amplifiers not earthed. 2) Metal cartridge cases can cause earth loops. 3) Insulated cartridge cases - the tonearm will then always be floating above earth, unless it has its own earth wire. For the BEST possible sound, external grounding is the solution. And no, the Rane 12s are not "technically turntables" they are motorized midi controllers. To be a turntable there has to be a tonearm, as per the patent for turntables.
+Dj TeeOh 1. I’m not incorrect. There’s is always a loss in resolution moving to digital. An analog wavelength is curved. Digital is not. You can’t overcome that. 2. It doesn’t matter why they are not grounded, it matters that they chose not to internally ground them. Clearly it’s possible since many turntable companies choose to offer it. And about Rane 12s. Unless DJs are not using the 12s like turntables I’m going to say they are like turntables. Semantics my friend.
I was really excited for the MK7s but they definitely missed their mark on the pricing. While there are a lot of super OEMS out there at a cost dramatically less than the new MK7, it's hard to distinguish if it's worth buying the new Technics. The Reloop RP7000MK2 is pretty much your "modern" SL1200MK2 with a stronger motor and the basis of what the MK7 is. Sure, this whole new "motor" design on the Technics is intriguing but I have yet to find or meet anyone who has "burnt" out any turntable or dealt with this "cogging" issue on past models.. PLUS, the price point is pretty spot on. 2 for just about the same price of one new SL1200MK7.! The new Reloop RP8000MK2 is IMO much the best hybrid based turntable for DJ's who juggle both DVS and vinyl mixing. The cost of that thing is a total bargain compared to the new 1200s just at a single deck standpoint. You def hit the points on analog vs digital pitch. I was going to buy a pair of RP8000s earlier this year but after demo'ing a friends, the digital pitch threw me extremely off and I just didn't like the feel of it. I bought a pair of used SL1200M3D's last February for $500, learned how to calibrate and work on them, invested funds into replacing tonearms, pitch faders, spindle knobs, platters and new RCAs. These decks are practically new now and will last me for years. I can't see myself swapping them out for anything else now. Unless Pioneer puts out something amazing at NAMM lol.
I moved towards digital 5 years ago. I had all my tunes feom vynl on cd and forgot about my vynl. I was clearing out my loft and come across my vynl. Now i want a oair of turntables and Technics were my feck of choice. I dont want an old pair and i dont want to spend £2400. I like the Reloop RP7000 mk2. Can anyone who has used the RP7000 mk2 turntables leave a bit of feeback on them for me to get a measure of what they are like. Much appreciated
I still wouldn't get technics tone arm flimsy and I'm happy with reloop rp8000 s arm best and my 2nd set of stanton straight arm good as and price i'd get 2nd pair of reloops before getting plain jane turntables both brands stanton - reloops better motors etc
cebo glover I kind of feel the same way. I was playing with them at Namm and it didn’t feel right to me. Just a little off. Plus I hit the button when I was juggling.
Cleveland Terry Bowens there are supposed to be some from Japan that are similar/ better a renaissance revisit. But I can’t find them. Could be audio technica reimagined. Just need to get more info
I was hella disappointed when I got the official MSRP of the Techs...just don’t understand how they can justify a $1,200 price tag per unit when the competition is much less and pretty damn good as well. They really needed to come in at $1,000 or less per table. Ideally $899 would have been perfect I would have definitely got them. At $1,200 I just can’t justify that.
yes if you have a Technic turntable with no tonearm and digital software attached like that of the CDJ by pioneer then we have bridged the gap. I've thought about this for a long time and if Technic turntables bring back their version of the CDJ with Serato or rekordbox type of interface or software then that would be dope, if not then vinyl or laptop, fuck it.
Denon DJ Prime 4 put the screen on their mixer in one solid unit but if we could bring that screen to the player or controller instead of the mixer and in separate instead of one unit/controller like the Pioneer CDJ without it being $2,000 each, Then we eliminate the computer.
Hey man DM me sometime. If you like. I’ve some questions on business. Your US take vs my Canadian one. I feel The two models are 80% the same but it’s the nuance that I’m interested in.
Sticking with my M3D's, $1200 for the MK7s, my pockets aren't that deep. I'll wait (maybe for a long long long time) to see what user's experiences are on the Phase once its launched. Otherwise, I have my eyes on the Rane Twelves.
$1200 they buggin. My 12s are over 20yrs old and work fine. I'll stick my OGs
Bro nothing beats the Mk2's. My pair are over 25 years old and still working like they did out the box.
My MK2s work great, but I do like the added features/stability of the MK7s
GPLOCK get the silver one as well. Good luck
@@TheAnunnaki-NYC lol. Other companies make the better tables that last just as long.
Yeah $ 1200 for a turntable that’s going to last you 30 to 40 years
I've still got my 1210 mrk5 G's.Had them now for about 15years & still work perfectly,I've never had any problems with them.Only thing is can't get them to sinc perfectly for double ups.I love the look of the mrk7 thanks for the info man.bless
They don't sync because they have rubbish digital pitch faders, they are rubbish decks
Way light is fantastic? I want them solid heavy.
I still have my MKII's since 1984 replaced a few parts but still spinning to this day.
Reloop's turntable? LOL you mean Hanpin's new turntable with Reloops brand logo printed on it.
DJ_RueBoi people swear by those stantons. I used them a few times, ridiculous torque at that time they came out.
@@ClevelandTerry cleveland what do you think of the SL1200GR instead?
Love my Stanton STR150s....so many people slept on them. I would consider the Rane12s cause I want the new shiney toys. but the Stantons always call me back. had them for nearly 10 years
man i love the old school stantons
I got the RP 7000MK2s which are quite the same as the 8000s execpt for the midi buttons... the pitch is much more sensitive to micro adjustments. I play electronic music and when you get the right pitch, they stay in sync.
I've transitioned from 1200's to controllers in the last few years...but these reloops make me want to jump back into the turntable world.I think the Rane Twelves look awesome but I honestly don't see the point outside of using them at home...what club is gonna have them in house?
Cleveland Terry my man, you do great reviews, thankyou 👍
Btw I have a Stanton STR 150 Mk 1 and I am well happy with it!
Another great video.
My first turntables were the D1s. Purchased in 1977.
+LLoyoc going way back!
Did you get a pair?
I have two of the 1200 MKll and will stick with those. I don’t DJ enough with vinyl as much as I used to. More for me to enjoy or a special type of event where I need vinyl. I like using them at home now. Thanks for the share out.
I would to buy reloop 8000mk2 and numark scartch mixer .is it worth?
What do you think about pioneer ppl plx 1000s?
I am curious i got mine on Amazon for 1500 and not 1200. Is it because it’s a Japanese import?
Great as always bro! In 2024, I would wait for new standalone. There are some rumors about Denon 6000m+, I hope a better stand alone! With one deck, you have 2 turntables, an ssd bay, and also you can turn off the motor if you prefer only mixing. That is the older 6000. I hope the new one will have even more goodies! And at least for me, this is better choise than turntables!
What are the best tables for someone on a budget?
Probably Audio-Technica AT-LP140XP
I'm rockin Numark S7iii. I don't own any vinyl although I started mixing with vinyl. I'm holding out fa awhile in hopes that Technics create a 12" digital controller. If not, then I'll be a player for a 2nd Gen Rane possibly. Imma let u test Phase........ If it ever come out lol
I dont understand why digital offers less increments?
Lol
I got out of the whole DJ thing in the early 2000's when I got an MPC 2000XL and got more into making beats, still using my tables all the time for sampling and sometimes to scratch a hook, just not for DJing anymore .... but after seeing all this cool new DJ technology in the 2010's I started getting interested in the DJ thing again and in 2014 I got myself a MacBook Air laptop and a Pioneer DDJ-SR controller with Serato and I love this new DJ technology, no more searching through crates and switching records, or carrying a limited amount of records and no more skipping needles.... I love vinyl but I don't miss those damn skipping needles or warped records at all! Lol
The main thing I like about all this new DJ technology is the instant access to your music library, the 8 cue points, 8 mpc style rubber pads per deck, echo delays, filters, visual display of the sound waves, not having to get doubles of the same song and no more skipping needles! :)
Now my plan is to sell my DDJ-SR and replace it with the Pioneer DDJ-SR2 or the upcoming Mixars Primo, because those controllers have a built in analog mixer, so i plan to hook up my old turntables to the controller and I will have the old school DJ technology and the new school DJ technology, the best of both worlds and bring new life to my turntables with Serato and a DJ controller!!! :)
Hey Cleveland love the video brother what do you think of the AT 120 ?
Ok on a budget I would to get into turntablist I have a controller right now but willing to invest I found a pair of reloop on hhv. For 390 a piece I also found a pair of DJ tech turntables for 329 a piece which would be the best
Marcus graves technics. More people can work on them if they break and they hold their value better.
@@ClevelandTerry hey which technics mk3 or mk5
Marcus graves I prefer the 5s but some don’t. I like the +16 pitch adjustment
@@ClevelandTerry have you tried the numark ntx1000? What do you think of it
Keppler Keppler good looking out. Read his post wrong.
Right now will be the perfect time for Numark to release the Ns74 if they planning to continue with the series which to me by far is my to go 2 in the controller game and sound great and great mic pre with clean gain
Ns7 has always been underrated in my book.
Thanks!
I use ns73 it's decent
Still using my V7's :-)
Cleveland can I get a link for the art behind you?
I am almost strictly a vinyl DJ, so the new MK 7s will be a welcome addition to my home. I am currently using a pair of MK2s. If I go digital, I would go with the new Denon Prime 4- Stand-Alone 4 Deck controller.
Where do you pick up top 40 songs on vinyl nobody wants to hear oldschool at new parties today???? This leaves you no choice but to use the new systems vinyl is still going to end up taking a back burner unless new music is pressed
They still make vinyl pressings of new music but it would be inefficient due to cost. It's more of a novelty now.
Lol.
Technics SL-1200/1210 no matter which model and series is the Professional DJ Standard from 1979-2019 and always will be😀👍🎼🎶Great.
May be the standard, but no longer the best.
Cleveland Terry can you do a review of the S9 using rekordbox software?
Technics came out with a cd player with motorised platter , but wasn’t a big success . So they did have the no tonearm already that You could use with serato , with the timecode cd
Dope review. Me personally im good with my mk2's in 2019.
weight loss !? mass = isolation. said to have a laminated chassis of plastic and aluminum.
I use to spin on mk2s in the late 89s early nineties...uts a whole different ball game now 😊😊😊
Rp7000mk2
I sold a set of pristine 1200's that were like new and bought Mixars LTA's - I cry myself to sleep every night since.
How could you???
🤯🤯🤯
Yus 808 Thanks for the tip. I still do spin vinyl from time to time.
Mong man Thank you for the tip no I have never oiled them.
Mong man Thank you. Just orders the oil on Amazon.
Sorry my English, i'm from Chile and i speak spanish
just got the mk7 as a gift that's a lot of bass feed back when I. tap on the turntable . wish I didn't sell the. 2PC MK2 back in the 90s DO LIKE MK7 .

Was hoping you would talk about the new mixer from reloop aswell. Looks like a good option for those who don't have $1699+ for the Pioneer or Rane.

Joseph Halliday thinking of getting myself PLX 1000 is it a good OEM?
I've had to have a Technics 1200 tonearm replaced. That was always the Achilles' heel of that fine machine.
Wonder if they plan on adapting the old design in the future.
the Rane Twelves got a shit tonne of hate when people saw pictures and even when early demos were shown but if i had the money i would already have a pair though it might be a good idea to see what they follow up with
Its great that they have detachable rca’s at last too.
almost 2 years after this video but I just ordered an 8000 MK2 + Numark Scratch, imho a solid starter setup. But more importantly, I got both non factory sealed for the price of a 1200 MK7. I would have loved a Reloop Elite + MK7, but too much $$$$$ for me. Even at the current $999 price the Technics are still pretty damn pricey next to the competition.
1200 mkIIs I paid 900 for the pair in 98. work better now then when i got them
More than likely going to be Reloop 7000mk2 for me, or Rane 12.

Hey thanks for that info; I didn't know that. But still, I'll take a Reloop with midi functionality over the 1200's any day.
The G series were failures? News to me.

I'm not feeling the M7 at all because it's not even made in Japan. It's pretty much another super OEM.
so when you buy a BMW or Audi make sure there not made in other country than Germany. other OEMs don't have to follow high quality standards and requirements of the original manufacturer.
I think the high price tag is just because it's a technics, which means it WONT DIE, most Technics have had multiple owners and still work since they left the factory, my 1997 M3Ds still work AMAZING 🔥,

If money is not an issue get the Techs, you won’t be disappointed, if you’re on a budget get the Reloop 7000s, you won’t be disappointed.
they are just slightly updated versions of what went before.I have two sets of Technics and i will never sell them but the mk7s are way too expensive for not enough of a change.I could get two reloops for one mk7.I have had early Stanton str8s vestax pdxd3s soundlabs citronic belt drives. The Technics though the simplest are the best but my Str8s which i took everywhere had more features which i found very useful. The only reason i dont still have them was because some idiot drowned them in a glass of beer. They were also the most beautiful decks i ever had.I would like the next model on but i am not sure where i could put them.
A Technics version of The Rane Twelve? Why is that wrong?I think that would be amazing.

You can by two 1210's and a pioneer 450. Mixer and xp01 for 2000. That's what you should buy period. If you have the doe. Go for it. But I rather be smart and get more for the buck . Reloop mixer and two turntables coming out is more a sweet deal to me
My initial thoughts on the announcements
1) Technics are still stuck 20 years in the past
2) $2400 a pair??? Fat chance!!! I'd rather get the SC5000's (with dual layer I might add).
3) Loving the tidied-up button layout on the RP8000Mk2
4) Would love to see Reloop bring out their take on the Nexus.
tbh yer they're expensive but I'm glad they are still in the game.
I'm still rocking my pair of 1200MK2's as well and they are 27 years old. I use them everyday.
I loved my Technics MK2s for decades. But i had to sell them when my kids were born. I'm getting back into it but Technics is out of thier mind with the new prices. For the first time since the 80's Im switching turntable brands. I'm going with Reloop this time.
+James Southworth 👍🏾
Mixers are way more complex these days for using dj software so its going to happen to turntables.Mixers have midi ,effects both hardware and software, so its the same risk for them as it is for turntables or cdjs, media players ,or controllers,.I doubt that Reloop rps are as well built as the mk7s but it rather depends on your needs and your bank balance.
I use traktor and have 8000s and z1 mixer and the midi controlls are a god send I can use two turntables as 4 at the press of two buttons which switch selected track and fader assignment,I also have key lock on/off for each deck and the loop recordsr controls.
the ironic thing is after 20 years of djing and owning multiple mixers and turntables .... I am now more on my portable than anything else ..
loving that art in the background dude!
Im a controller dj probably do the rane 12s for the look cuz clients wanna see the work
I was really excited for the MK7s but they definitely missed their mark on the pricing.
My exact words. Numark already did all of this YEARS AGO!!!
Made in Malaysia but they still have to comply with customer requirements. Where’s your BMW or Audi made? Just google it.
I still wouldn't get technics tone arm flimsy and I'm happy with reloop rp8000 s arm best and my 2nd set of stanton straight arm good as and price i'd get 2nd pair of reloops before getting plain
jane turntables both brands stanton - reloops better motors etc
Love my Reloop RP8000's
ty for the feed back
tonearm flimsy? really? the technincs prob has had the most amount of R&D going in to tonearm design
I will keep using my numark cdx with no tone arm vynal feel and ahead of its time still
Vinyl feel, not vinyl sound accurate
Reloops mistake is placing their vie buttons in that row....the perfect placement for cue buttons is dicer style. PERIOD.
cebo glover I kind of feel the same way. I was playing with them at Namm and it didn’t feel right to me. Just a little off. Plus I hit the button when I was juggling.
Hope this is enough of a revival to bring back the Shure M44-7:)
+Barrymore Scott you and me both pal.
Cleveland Terry Bowens there are supposed to be some from Japan that are similar/ better a renaissance revisit. But I can’t find them. Could be audio technica reimagined. Just need to get more info
Just bcuz a girl pretty dont make her valuable..lmao
You're right, but that's doesn't mean I can't appreciate her form.
😭😂
The real value to either a man or a woman you are with is what he or she makes you when you're with him/her.
@@priyonjoni Going deep on a Friday!
1200 mk7 is great turntable.Coreles direct drive motor ..
Panasonic are using apples marketing strategy of let's see how much these idiots will pay.
Lmfao
@Mong man I didn't state a price?
@Mong man its not my video you have commented to me rather than public reply on this creators video lol 😂
@Mong man Panasonic formally known as Matsushita straight from the Panasonic website.
@Mong man that's right just like Jvc was called Jvc/Nivico in the 1960's
yes if you have a Technic turntable with no tonearm and digital software attached like that of the CDJ by pioneer then we have bridged the gap.
That prime 4 is huge. I think it's more for permanent installations.

i got the Denon Dj, VL12's and I love them. before that I had a pair of Stanton's to see if we were gonna take the plunge and go deep into vinyl.
Regina Gooch 🔥🔥
Hey man DM me sometime. If you like. I’ve some questions on business. Your US take vs my Canadian one. I feel
The two models are 80% the same but it’s the nuance that I’m interested in.
Sticking with my M3D's, $1200 for the MK7s, my pockets aren't that deep. I'll wait (maybe for a long long long time) to see what user's experiences are on the Phase once its launched. Otherwise, I have my eyes on the Rane Twelves.
Neither are mine. I have kids :-)
I say the new Denon Sc5000m is the better buy due to usb sticks playback , killer screen plus features.
Ramon Valdez the denons are dope.
I agree
