Thank you for the history journey. I did my training at Ft Bliss before the school was moved to Ft Sill.

Hey ! Outstanding video. Fort Sill has always been very special to me. Lived there for several years as a kid beginning in the mid 1950's . Even as a kid I was enchanted with the history and felt very privileged to call this place home for a while. They used to put on a huge firepower demonstration out on the firing range once a year, firing the howitzers, the Little John and Honest John missiles, etc. My Dad was very busy in the artillery but took time to introduce me to some very special things and history of the post. Of course Geronimo was a common name, the first time he took me to the guardhouse I was simply amazed and back in those days the story of Geronimo and the guard house was bigger than life. I remember him telling me the flat stones in the floor of the cell he once stayed in were worn down from his constant pacing...of course that myth is right up there with him bending the bars in the window of the door. Mt. Scott, Medicine Creek, and The Wichata Wildlife Refuge area was my playground. As time moved on I have never lost interest in the post and its history. I continue to study in depth of its history and have been delighted that much of what I have researched and read over the years was enhanced with my personal remembrances of the post and it historical landmarks ! Enough rambling...thank you for doing this video, your passion and enthusiasm added a great deal to the video content. Oh I have subscribed to your channel and have already spotted some of your other videos I will be watching soon!

My father was stationed at Ft. Sill twice when I was a young boy. Army Brat! Kids can be cruel. I locked my younger brother in Geronimo's cell once. True story. 1961.
He has never let me live it down. Great clip you made.

Should have taken a picture of the circle path Geronimo made walking a circle around his cell.

Nice to see this from the 19th century. Back then Fort Sill was a major fort for many years as a hub of other forts.

Hey Ken, you did a stand up job of bringing the viewer right into the spirit of fort sill. As a viewer I could feel your authentic interest in the truth about American history. There is NO SUBSTITUTE for details and FACTS. The music set the tone for a adventure back in time. I’m afraid the younger generation has lost interest in the real truth. Ken, thanks again for the educational video and many blessings to you and family.
    Joe

I dont think the native american chief Geronimo wanted to be there. It is very disrespectful to say that was his hotel and laugh. How would you feel if a stranger invaded your house and put you in prison and 😂?

Well done video thanks for your effort My Dad was stationed there in 1962-63 and I was born there in the old hospital in June of 63. One of these days hopefully the truth will be known if Geronimo’s remains are all there. His skull is rumored to be in the possession of a certain group of wealthy fraternity members and some have been U.S. Presidents.

Geronimo was only a hero to part of the Chiricahua...many hated him for fleeing the rez at turkey creek and forcing them along....the White Mtn Apache fought with the Army against Geronimo.and still live on their land in Az.....at Ft Sill Geronimo was only held in that cell for a couple of days when he got drunk....which was alot...the remainder of the time he had free reign of Ft Sill on horseback...where he visited with family and Naiche who lived miles away...went to church and also was allowed to travel off rez with escort...he went up on a hot air balloon, attended Roosevelts inauguration, and made thousands from his autograph....he went to a friends house drinking and gambling all night long and on the way home fell off his horse dead drunk...thats how he caught pnuemonia and died...Geronimo was not mistreated in his final years except that he was forbidden to go back to Az...Jason Benitez his cousin wrote a great book on geronimo and Ft Sill...I Fought With Geronimo...
