    Good video Kurt and thanks to the farmer for allowing you to film as well. It would be most interesting to see how well this crop emerges and develops as this suggests quite narrow rows.

    Great video Kurt, what crop residue was he drilling into? I could see a cereal stubble, had they planted a winter cover crop? The 8100 sounds wonderful.

      Lord Muck cheers for that Kurt, propper eco tillage farmers caring for their soil.

    • @LordMuck
      @LordMuck  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The bit that struck me Gareth was they are not afraid to lightly scuffle the surface or maybe use low disturbance subsoiler legs to achieve the best for each individual field if that’s what’s required.

    • @Cotlandfarmer
      @Cotlandfarmer 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lord Muck how growing crops should be done, do what is required for each field and crop.

    Forgive my ignorance of such implements but what is the purpose of the disc out on the boom ti the side of the drill? Good video Thanks for sharing.

    • @LordMuck
      @LordMuck  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a bout marker. It's set to scratch a line which when you come back the next time is in line with the centre marker on the bonnet.

    Hello again Sir. Muck , my first born's name is JD , he's a 1985 model . Great video as always Sir. love watching this stuff . The seed drill appears to be an excellent choice for a tool that can be used in multiple applications , good form . I 've looked at some videos of the GOODYEAR LSW 1400/30R 46 , I was wondering what your thoughts were , or if you have even looked into the technology at all ? If you have made a video of them , I missed it . I'll have to check your play list for sure . Great content as always , be healthy , wealthy , and wise , and skillful for sure Sir. Muck !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • @LordMuck
      @LordMuck  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Bryan, no I haven't looked at the Goodyear range at this point but they have contacted me and we will be looking at some of their stuff very soon. Give my regards to JD !

  • @onlygazza
    @onlygazza 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The tractor sounds well, I've only used an old bettison drill and you had to be careful the seed tubes don't get blocked in wetter conditions, how on earth can you tell if this has a blockage. Great vid 👍

    • @LordMuck
      @LordMuck  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’d imagine it has flow sensors. I’ll ask Alan and find out.
      Cheers Gazza.

    • @farmerjoe8144
      @farmerjoe8144 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gazza's fastrac farming You turn the land wheel and check that seed comes out of every colter. I'd say it's unlikely for this drill to have sensors to tell you when it's blocked up.

    You can't beat a bit of old school cool but do you think the jd 81 00 would stand up against the big fent 10 50?

    • @LordMuck
      @LordMuck  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Totally different beasts Matt. The question is "Will the Fendt 1050 be running as well as the 8100 in 20 years time ?"

    • @mattl9718
      @mattl9718 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lord Muck that I don't know but the way things is going there won't be the big tractors on the farms because of all the bull shit and red tape that my humble opinion

    Nice vid Kurt, and wasn't the sun welcome? .......I fully understand direct drilling etc etc, .......but to me, in to stubble etc, a firect drilled field looks like half a job.
    Take Care.

    • @LordMuck
      @LordMuck  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I know what you mean but the 'job' is all about reducing costs so it has definite advantages.

    • @LordMuck
      @LordMuck  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are very selective with where they will just DD or where they might scuffle the top first. That's the advantage with that drill - you can use it in a full range of scenarios.

  • @robertreznik9330
    @robertreznik9330 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Interesting how a hoe drill can plant so well. In the US western Plains we use mostly Coulter. th-cam.com/video/dh27xHTweCA/w-d-xo.html Not many 8100's were sold as most were 8400 until 8370R came out.

    • @LordMuck
      @LordMuck  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depending on the individual requirement, the 8000 Series sold well from the 81 through to the 84’s over here.

    Hi, greetings from sunny Scotland!!love your channel and videos.i've got a question regarding the pre emergence system on the back of a one pass drill.see if you're working a 3 metre drill and the tramlines are for spraying at 24 metre, which pass do you use the pre emergence?is it one side on the 4th pass (12metre)and one side on the next adjoining 5th pass(15metre)or how does it work? same with the 4metre one pass.it would be good to hear your knowledge about it.i asked George Saunders the same question.thanx in advance.keep up the good work!!
