What could pawsibly go wrong?
Bubsy 3D ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bubsy_3D ) is the fourth game in the Bubsy series, and was its last one for 21 years, until the franchise was revived with a fifth game. Released in 1996, it was one of the first 3D platform games out there, though its poor controls, terrible graphics, and annoying main character lead the game to being considered one of the worst of all time.
Solarplex ( tasvideos.org/Users/Profile/S... ) claws his way through the game in just over 23 minutes, almost making it look fun and playable in the process. - เกม

There was probably more effort put into the TAS than the actual game

+Zack Veno Not very many. The game overall doesn't have too many controls or tricks so it was actually fairly easy to TAS. Understanding how Bubsy moves was basically like thinking of him as a Truck, slow to start, hard to stop and turn.

Wow, that's when you *know* it's bad, when even a TAS, a speedrun made possible with tools that automatically and painstakingly make precise button inputs at very specific frames, has trouble with it!

Bubsy 3D actually controls quite nicely. Just take your time to get used to the tank controls.

@@ositaeke1876 For me it was a masterpiece, and I've played Banjo-Tooie, Ocarina of Time, Crash Bandicoot 2, Super Mario 64 and even played a bit of BoTW and Super Mario Odyssey.

Can you believe this came out AFTER Super Mario 64?
MegamanXfan21xx it started development before the devs learned about sm64, so they had no template to work with
But the PSx was more powerful then the Nintendo 64. Super Mario 64 was for its time an awesome game for the N64 and the team of Bubsy had with the Playstation 1 the potential making a better Bubsy-game then the mario64-game. But they fucked up Bubsy because the team didn't like him.
@@Cryptorax no, the PSO wasn't more powerful that N64. Just compare Rayman 2 from PSO to Rayman 2 from N64 (and I know PlayStation version sacrificed many things for cinematics, but still, the graphics are just worse)

Everything you said is wrong. The N64 is a much more powerful console. Really the only advantage the PS1 has over the N64 is storage space, due to CDs vs cartridges.
The game isn't shit because the team hated bubsy. It's because:
1: The Bubsy 3D team was much smaller than the Mario 64 team
2: Development of Bubsy 3D lasted for 1,5 years vs 3 years for Mario 64
3: Mario 64 was developed as a launch title, meaning it had to be a killer app for the N64. Bubsy 3D was intended to promote a planned toy line and TV show.
There's more time taken in this TAS in load screens than actual gameplay.
Well to be fair, It was in development before other games like Sm64, So they didn't really know how to make a 3D platformer

The nicest thing I can say about this TAS is that "solarplex did a damn good job of making a mockery of this awful game and I think _Bubsy 3D_ finally got the gameplay video it deserved!"
They make it nearly look fun

When a TAS takes longer than the development of the game.
There are some positives:
It doesn't have framerate issues
It doesn't crash
Because of the lack of textures it can mostly upscale infinitely in an emulator and look almost the same as 480p
It has music
Sound effects don't stop the music (see Cheetah Men)
Can't think of anymore
First Supeman 64, now Bubsy 3D.

Why does this game feel like you're controlling a camera and bubsy is just part of the hud
This was a finished game? There is no textures and just looks unfinished and rushed
william fleete lol it's the pre-alpha rushed, but with a 3d sprite as Main character and no textures and the Camera makes Me motion sick (which says a pretty lot about the Game). but hey, at least it has hi-res graphics
They reportedly didn't have enough memory left over got textures, since they focused on the high resolution.

I actually consider the graphics to be quite decent for the year this game came out. The only positive thing I can really say about this game.

Even though I know Bubsy 3D from beginning to end I couldn't even get the Claws for Alarm skip. Maybe I suck at speedrunning (also supported by the fact I never could pull out a BLJ in Super Mario 64) or I just need a turbo controller.
