Kalmah is one of the finest death metal bands on the planet. They're heavy. They're melodic. They don't overdo it with crazy fast drums or nutcase psychotic guitar playing. They dont use over the top tempos or time signatures. Their growls are modest and not absurd. Basic. Simple. But steadfast and strong. The thing they do the most are melodies. Lots of stellar melodies and chords befitting a power metal band. But they dont overdo that either. Their songs dont sound like operas or fantasy novels. (Not jabbing at bands that do. I love them too.) But they inject just enough of this power metal sound into an otherwise fairly generic death metal mix, that it makes for a formula that really stands out. Enough so that I've never really heard anywhere else in my near 20 years of metal exploring. Kalmah has the perfect blend of everything that makes a great metal band, without doing anything excessive or extreme. And I love them to death for it.
Production quality is significantly better, vocals are slightly different, this band has actually made improvements in a way. They sound tighter, with more teamwork than say "They Will Return" from 2002
KALMAH I hope you know that for many of us you're the greatest death metal band! Your music has helped me through the toughest times and those RIFFS I can't I love you guys!!!!!!!!!
They are melodic death metal, & yes !! I know where you coming from . they also have helped me fight very unbelievable battles & hardship in my life . looking at your name I think we can relate, I’m from Afghanistan 🇦🇫.
When Kalmah released their new single Evil Kin, many were very unimpressed - including me. But after listening the entire album I can't complain. It's an awesome album once again.
Bought it ~1 year ago. Instant evergreen status. Hearing it if I play a game, doing something at home, at work and if i go into the shower. I memorized every song. Well.... *press replay again* :D
Kalmah is my favroite band, and it's too underrated and unappreaciated. Melo death(with in flames changing style) has died but the embers reside in kalmah.
Great riffs, awesome arrangements, killer solos, and nice unexpected breakdowns. Pure metal. This album is amazing from start to Finnish (lol). I bought the vinyl three weeks ago the moment I saw it and am playing it daily. I just came on here to say how great i think it is. Finland rules.
I cannot even fathom how underrated Antti is. He's a brilliant guitarist and riff maker. And ofc Kalmah is absolutely great. How many melo death bands you hear and and recognize them just from their sound? Kalmah is one of them and that's very rare.
After 18 years of releasing albums, Kalmah returns with their strongest demonstration since 2003's Swampsong...I've been a fan since the very first album, 2000's Swamplord, but incredibly I've never seen Kalmah live on stage...until tonight's show in Vaasa WS arena!
I personally think this is a solid release. 12 gauge took a while to grow on me, but it is so damn good. I love all of Kalmah's albums, but For The Revolution, while good, is probably their weakest recording to date. That being said, Evil Kin is definitely the worst song they've ever made.
Yup, absolutely. The album is definitely nothing new, but with first couple of notes it's totally and utterly * Kalmah *. Recognizable as ever. And very good I'd say.
This is awesome album! Swampsong will still Be their best but this is very close to that. It's very rare that album could be this perfect nowadays. Must buy!
Sami Väisänen haha nice, for me mainly I hated pvp xP I was mainly into hardcore raiding (I was a wow lord junkie) so couldn't listen to music while raiding as I needed to be on teamspeak. But my wow playing days was when I discovered all these bands and god damn those days were epic
@Каштан Кумкват Wow you're a bit late but hey welcome anyway, glad you stumbled upon this! Don't hesitate to check all of their previous recordings, great things from 2000 to now ;D
Yyyeeeaahh, Kalmah is back, man years ago between this album and the last. Amazing comeback, like all their album, but I think the debut was the best. Please, more from this music Kalmah, we are missing you, and this fantastic sound 🙋♀️🙋♀️🇦🇹🎸
This kind of music, melodic metal played in band, requires so much skill and determination, compared to some single artist, like pop singers and rappers. Melodic bands, for me, will always be number one.
When this came out I had a lot of expectations built up from the terrific Seventh Swamphony and didn't really care for Palo. I gave it another listen today and I can't believe I missed such an excellent album. I am amazed at how consistently good Kalmah is.
Fucking finally. Very technical Blackened Melodic Death Metal like Kalmah does became so rare nowadays. Thank you. Just Thank you! Keep on like that guys. I know as a musician its impossible to do what others expect, because the opposite happens. Im glad u guys came back THAT huge! Horns up!
Reckoned Dead Just leave that "very". You can't really compare that album to any other modern melodic death metal bands tbh. This time Kalmah really hit the bulls eye according to overall song structure, variations in mood and style and audio engineering.
There is something so pure about Kalmah. Don't listen to people who say "Their early stuff yada yada..." All Kalmah albums are just about the most headbangingly fun albums I can think of. Any first time listeners here should check out everything they've done. Randomly, "Black martens trace" is a track that all metalheads need to hear. If that doesn't get your fuckin blood pumping, well...

Kalmah is still one of the most skilled bands and deserves so much more attention
Absolutely!
Agree
the best thing is in a genre so mired in bands losing their way (Im looking at you Anders Friden), they are still true to who they were in Swampsong.
Liked twice
@@ratmi8633 Like DT and Inflames lost it decades ago?

DAMN. 18 years and nothing has changed. this band is rare

the guitar riff and opening solo from take me away....give me chills to my bones...that was perfect......oh how i love this band
*Welcome back Kalmah !*
HELL yeah! and dem ain't change for 20 years!
They will return!
What a beautiful album, those melodies are bone-chilling. 🖤
I was trying to find words for how this album makes me feel, this nails it.

Absolutely right. There's no frontiers. It's pure art.RAGE, HATRED AND PAIN
from Finland for the world.... the best metal..... yeah!
Missed you after almost 10 years, so busy forgetting these brothers, but now back to Metal Church and Kalmah
Is it just me or is Kalmah returning to their original performance? Finally! More face-melting solos :D
Blood ran cold had some hints of heritance of berja. Very impressed.
When Kalmah released their new single Evil Kin, many were very unimpressed - including me. But after listening the entire album I can't complain. It's an awesome album once again.
totally agree with you ! Good ! =)
fuck yeah
Agreed, with all the amazing songs on here the decision to go with evil kin as the single is quite baffling.
Riffs for YEARS. Kalmah is back and better than ever!

The riffs are strong in this one.
I like your channel name
And the solos. 👌
Favorite band. Some masterful melodies!
This album is massive!! It deserves a better production!
This is KALMAH !!!!
KALMAH...they never seem to disappoint. 8.5/100 crushing skulls.
Its 2018 and the metal flame is brighter than ever before...\m/\m/\m/
nice name, and so true
another their great album. love it very much 🖤 hail Kalmah!

So glad they kept it real...this is gold
Dirthecnical
The most underrated metal band in the world is back!
Amazing work !!! Great guitar riffs. Heavy enough to crush your soul but melodic enough to lift your spirit.
Well said sire
Perfectly balanced, as all things should be.
Now to grab my guitar and learn these songs over the summer
Good music to be heard in loud volume!

"I AM TOASTER!"
''THAT'S *O V E R H E A T I N G*''
Hahahah kalmah started in the kitchen

Lucky :'(
I gonna see them in ruisrock this summer
Sabbathman1979 Loved The Black Waltz and first few albums. This is definitely step up from the last albums.
@Mastema more black waltz like stuff is good. fuck off
I personally think this is a solid release. 12 gauge took a while to grow on me, but it is so damn good. I love all of Kalmah's albums, but For The Revolution, while good, is probably their weakest recording to date. That being said, Evil Kin is definitely the worst song they've ever made.
From Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, I drove to Toronto Canada twice to see them, 2011 and 2016.
I saw them yesterday and I only had to go 9 minutes by train. I was so happy when they finally came to the Netherlands for the first time!
You must of loved it when they actually played in Pennsylvania last week, huh?
This is some classic Kalmah right here
And it's sexy!
Yup, absolutely. The album is definitely nothing new, but with first couple of notes it's totally and utterly * Kalmah *. Recognizable as ever. And very good I'd say.
Yup a lot of 12 gauge in there!
Yep, the entire album sounds like Swamlord!
@@HeroSword_P no it doesn't. absolutely none of it does.
I love Kalmah..it's is amazing!!!
Excelentní album 😈🤘....
I love this album. is really great....
Just wanted to point out the Fucking amazing graphic art work of this album.
FANTASTIC !!! Typical Kalmah
This is awesome album! Swampsong will still Be their best but this is very close to that. It's very rare that album could be this perfect nowadays. Must buy!
I think 12 gauge, for the revolution, they will return, black waltz, and the other album with the song hades, and this are a bit harder than swampsong.
Swamplord is their absolute masterpiece
I love it when a band comes full circle.
My divine kalmah
Sounds like old school Kalmah again! WELCOME BACK
What a wonderful album..all songs are gems!!!
Bands like kalmah, norther, ensiferum, folkearth and such remind me of my world of Warcraft playing youth days
Same here, did lots of pvp with these bands playing in the background =)
Sami Väisänen haha nice, for me mainly I hated pvp xP I was mainly into hardcore raiding (I was a wow lord junkie) so couldn't listen to music while raiding as I needed to be on teamspeak. But my wow playing days was when I discovered all these bands and god damn those days were epic
Still epic paper pen rpg as well need thematic music this and Insomnium
YEAHH ,... excellent band ... im gonna order it
Como é bom estar vivo e ouvir obras primas igual a essa, que álbum fabuloso.

Back to Old School!! Great álbum
Love those solos
I was looking for a band sounding like COB since 2010 and I just found this and this is so much better!
@Каштан Кумкват Wow you're a bit late but hey welcome anyway, glad you stumbled upon this! Don't hesitate to check all of their previous recordings, great things from 2000 to now ;D
One if the BEST band ever!!!!
KALMAH, sencillamente LO MEJOR que he escuchado.

Same old Kalmah! Yeah!!!!!
Sounds awesome what a great band!

Love this album! Good they stick to their sound unlike many other bands.
ive been listening to metal for about a year now and this has been my fav band since the beginning
The Stalker has barely the same riff as Red and black taken from album "Kalmah"! but i like it, cheers! \m/
The work with the keyboard is actually fucking insane on this album
Respect from Danmark. KEEP GOING.
far better mastering than before, well done.
Gotta be joking mate. Go listen to the old albums, much better than this disaster.
Well said; the new album that just came out sadly doesn’t sound much better

Very technical blackened melodic death metal, lol. Quite the mouthful.
And yet still accurate
Reckoned Dead Just leave that "very". You can't really compare that album to any other modern melodic death metal bands tbh. This time Kalmah really hit the bulls eye according to overall song structure, variations in mood and style and audio engineering.
I love the album too. I've been listening to it almost everyday since I got it. I was just amused by your very specific labeling of their style, hehe.
Reckoned Dead I know, it was a bit too much tbh haha. but lets ne serious, this is no common melodeath 🤘
omg, this is so back to the roots! =) i cant believe it, feeling nostalgia while listening new kalmah- stuff! i love this!! ^^
This is one of the best from Kalmah.I love this very much !
