More touches, more pressure, more decisions. What are your thoughts on this drill?

Great drill, my U11 girls are slowly getting to grips with it. Lots of coaching required with them so it doesnt descend into chaos though!

Coaching input is vital, especially with younger players learning the exercise and getting to grips with the speed of decision making required to have some success in possession. Remember that sometimes it will look chaotic and that’s ok; learning comes via chaos! 😉

Yes great clear video once again! thanks. Chris Spotta, I coach a U12 girls team (as well as high school). Not sure if this would be helpful for you but, when the girls were 10, I had success with playing music during the rondo and then when I paused the song everyone froze. We took a look around and the girls needed to identify where the space and pressure was. I would give the in possession team a moment to find that space with the defenders still frozen, then we'd continue. That seemed to help the girls to paint a picture of what I mean by moving off the ball. It also encouraged them to find space before the music stopped. I used to coach boys where I found pushups or burpees and just the competition of the rondo to be plenty to keep them working competitively. With the girls, when I changed the reward I got more buy in and urgency. Ex. the team that wins the most rondos gets to do a Tik Tok vid of their choice with the coach. I'd love to find more fun and/or funny forfeits for my high school team.

One of the misunderstood aspects of coaching is the connection with and buy-in from players. If you don’t have that, the tactical stuff can only take you so far.
Some good ideas there for engaging the players; you have to find what works for you and for the players so I commend you for thinking outside the box!
