What's drilling to deep defend and counter attack because my kids team are not always possessed the ball but we want to score the goals. Our opponents always keep the ball. How to train them? I have a group of 12-13 years old but they try hard and compete with older opponents. Hence the game is 7 a side
Use this same exercise but have 1 GK plus 4 defenders go up against 5 players on the opposing team (the 4 defenders should communicate and shift together as a unit to stop the other team from penetrating. Once the defenders win the ball, have 1 or 2 goals on the halfway line (or whatever space you have) which the defending team need to immediately counter attack in order to score.
