There are FIVE main reasons why many believers are NOT baptized in the Holy Spirit:
(1) They have been INTELLECTUALLY CONVINCED by some theological argument that they were baptized in the Spirit when they were born again. And even though they are defeated, powerless, empty and fruitless, they continue to believe this theological deception.
(2) They feel that they are NOT WORTHY ENOUGH to receive the baptism in the Holy Spirit. The fact of the matter is that the more unworthy you feel and the greater the sinner you consider yourself to be, the more fit you are to receive the Holy Spirit - because God's gifts are given only to those who feel themselves most unworthy to receive them. If you have repented of your sins, it doesn't matter how unworthy or unfit or useless you are. Hallelujah!
(3) They DON'T BELIEVE that God is a good God - who gives His gifts freely to all who ask Him. They feel that they have to pay a price - do some good deeds, like fasting and praying, before they can receive.
But God's gifts are all freely given - whether it be the forgiveness of sins or the baptism in the Spirit. None of God's gifts can be purchased. Many believers feel that to have faith itself, is a difficult thing. But Jesus likened faith to drinking (See John 7:37,38, "...DRINK.... BELIEVE"). To receive the Holy Spirit is as easy as drinking. Even babies know how to drink - and those who are newly born again can be baptized with the Holy Spirit. That is how it was in the early days - as we read in the "Acts of the Apostles".
(4) They DON'T THIRST. They are not desperate enough. Jesus spoke a parable of a man who kept on knocking at his neighbour's door, UNTIL HE RECEIVED what he wanted. Then Jesus went on to say that our Heavenly Father would also give the Holy Spirit to those who asked, sought and knocked like that man (Read Luke 11:13 in the context of the previous verses, beginning at v.5).
(5) They WAIT FOR SOME EXPERIENCE (tongues or thrills etc., ) similar to the one they heard someone else testify to. They are not willing to leave it to God to decide what gift or manifestation is best for them to have. The Holy Spirit is received by simple faith.
Ask and ye shall receive (Gal.3:2; Luke 11:9-13). Don't wait for feelings. But ask God to give you an assurance. Leave it to Him as to how He gives you that assurance. Didn't He give you an assurance that your sins are forgiven and that you are His child? In the same way, He can also assure you that He has filled you with the Holy Spirit. What you need is not an experience, but POWER (Acts 1:8).
SO: THIRST - BELIEVE - AND RECEIVE. Now is the accepted time. Today is the day of salvation.
"The Spirit of the Lord WILL come upon you and you shall be CHANGED INTO ANOTHER MAN" (1 Sam.10:6).

Amen...I have been possessed by the kundalini spirit when I was involved in Hinduism in the 80's. Now as a born again Christian and Christ delivered... I can see this spirit as a tare among the wheat.
I was never involved in Hinduism, but have been a born again Christian form many years. I have been slain in the spirit many times. Hinduism is a duplicate and is demonic. The Holy Spirit is the real thing. This pastor is not very good. He is making Christians look bad, and all he talks about is the devil.

Please, help. Myself and son just went to a church and they did the praying and look laying on of hands.. people fell down. l never nor did my son. We discerned this was not the Holy Spirit. But have we been affected by this in some way , do we need set free , delivered from their laying on of hands. l went for healing as am very sick with brain tumour again and side effects of medication given by doctors. l seem to be in and out of hospital. Please reply soon.

Read the NT and study it...if u want read more, read the OT too...am sure he read the entire bible many times to come to that conclusion. But that is his own opinion.

Who are such good fathers that they made their children disciples and who make their children marry believer in christ partners also who saves the world , are u like them? Is Zac poonen teaching parents art of dominance? How controlling behavior is acceptable at home if the same is unacceptable in the church? Don't the children have their free will?if a child doesn't want to marry a believing Christian partner will parents in that situation go against the free will of their child?To be or not to a believer is a free choise, how can some say like this that those fathers are good fathers who make their children disciples,isn't this sounds like crushing someone's free will! Zac poonen contradicted himself by delivering a statement like this at the end of his sermon!
Read scriptures JESUS gave freedom to disciples but didn't took freedom from HIS parents when HE has chance at age of 12

Did apostles brought interpreters with them in the foreign land for preaching purpose?. As preachers now a days depending on interpreters for preaching the biblical message in foreign land,is this pointing that tongues are ceased?wasn't the purpose of the tongues was to preach good news in foreign tongue in foreign land to foreigners!
If you did proper research you will find that he does believe I the gifts of the Holy Spirit practiced bibically not the garbage from Toronto or Bethel or Benny Hinn as the are also ecumenical and believe Catholicshe who pray to Mary are Christian by biblical standard.
But Paul/Sauls and his companions all fell to the ground when Jesus appeared to Paul on the road to Damascus

@Chris Sweeney You are attempting to read something that isn't there...The book of Acts (Luke under inspiration of the Holy Spirit) just says "fell to the ground" three times (Acts chapters 9, 22,
& 26 which has them all fall to the ground). Yes it doesnt say they fell backwards.. but no one is saying falling backwards means it's from God..Its just a human response to a divine encounter. No one says you have to fall to the ground as evidence of a divine encounter. Just stick to the words of scripture as your authority. If you are open to knowing if its God or not.. read Jonathan Edward's Mark's of the Spirit. In a word the evidence is whether a person life is drawn closer to the Lord after.. we call that fruit. Dont get hooked up on details. Dont quench the Spirit.. put it this way I've preached a simple gospel (1 Corinthians 15) and had ppl up front for prayer and seen them "fall to the ground" before I even had opportunity to pray for them. It certainly wasn't anything I did..it was just the Spirit coming in power because of the gospel (Galatian 3) ..the test is the message. and the converts changed lives.

zac poonen was wrong in teaching do not Anger, Jesus himself angered on pharisees and he preached getting angry without reason is a sin. Zac must once again read those verses. i reverence him, i watch his messages day and night and i wish to know many things from him, hope he wont make these small mistakes which could be harmful, but if i am wrong i am ready to accept his word on anger. i hope to see him teach on this topic from him in future
JESUS had anger but never Sinned and he forgive all the people before the end of the day

Jesus never married...but he taught marriage. For instance he rewrote Moses' law of divorce. That emphasizes the value of marriage.
Apostles have written letters to churches in Asia encouraging and insisting fellowship between husband and wife.
In conclusion Jesus and apostles taught marriage. In fact Jesus is not single he is engaged to bis church soon be married to the bride the church.

I was very interested with these wise words until you mentioned woman covering their heads when praying or prophesying. You mentioned legalism and legalism is how it is. As woman of God we put a spiritual covering on our heads to obey! If woman prophesy without the covering, does their prophesy from from God become void? No. If God gives a woman without a literal head covering a word, it does not stop the prophesy. Legalism is not helpful. I'm not even a feminist. I just don't feel God sees me this way. Losing Church congregation in droves for this reasons ends alarm bells ringing as much as what is being preached against in this post.

Humans are not programmed devices like non living things, Stars, moon ..etc., We know what is rite and what is wrong?? It's not like when a woman cover's her head prophesy comes out and when she uncovers Prophesy goes back. She may prophesize well by uncovering her head but there she is disobeying GOD's word by dishonoring him so she get the returns for that
God's word is not in figurative. Very very difficult for the flesh to yield to God's commandments. Jesus died for you physically sister, He didn't assume in His mind that He died for your sins. When nature will preach this gospel to you in the lake of fire, it will be too late.

Dear Yvonne, some things are in the Word of God for the benefit of others. I truly believe that men need us to cover our head because everything about us is sensual to them. If a man asks you to cover your head. It's because he can't focus. We are women and we are desirable. The covering of the head is to help others=men to refrain from being inappropriate. It can be compared with dressing modestly: covering the chest, not showing off your shape etc. REMEMBER it is for the man's sake!! It is not to put you under lock and key, it is not to rid you of your freedom, it is not to make you feel inferior to men; rather it's to let you know how powerful you, your influence over a man is. You are very important. Men have sexual problems. They look at women and undress them. We women don't exactly know what that means, not really. They know what it means on a different level. Just like how a woman can hug and cuddle and it's just hugging and cuddling, but for a man any kind of touch is associated with sex. Men are women are different,ok? Men have different weaknesses.
