Could have been worse, if I can help people stay safe by talking about my mistakes I am glad to do it.

I am a firm believer in feather boards but I've gotten away from using them regularly . That's changing after viewing your video! I've gotten too comfortable with my table saw and that's a no no! Thanks for sharing and giving me a wake up call.

More likely, the board had a slight warp to it. It was short, and when you pressed the rear corner toward the fence, the bow was against the fence and so the far end was levered against the teeth. Just enough to catch on the carbide.

With so many people getting injured on table saws, their can be only 1 real culprit: The design is unsafe.
These can be engineered to be near 99.999% safe, but that would involved the saws costing significantly more and also being less convenient to use.

The design is unsafe because the bade is mostly hidden from view when you are cutting. This makes it easier to lose track of the blade. And because the operator is in the director line of fire of all kickbacks. This is why I prefer an old cast iron DeWalt radial arm saw. They literally can not kickback in cross-cutting, and in ripping, the operator is standing to the side of any potential kickback. Radials eject wood to your left or your right. Not at you. And not up at the ceiling nor your face. Additionally, with the Radial Arm Saw, you can SEE the big scary blade and that fear makes you pay more attention to what they heck you are doing. I’ve met a lot of guys with table saw injuries. Not one with a Radial arm saw injury.
