Hi there from India, I don't know if you'll see this, but I'm facing an issue of lens fogging with my One inch mod which I love to the core. Is there a way around this..? To be more specific, moisture is condensing on the inside of the lens guard, but not on the lens itself
Thanks for reminding me why I purchased of the OneR after 9 months of use. Really happy they provided a firmware update that totally transformed the camera to the next level. I hope they continue with updates. :)
I'm itching to get one, but there's a decent chance that the next version might be coming out soon. It being modular brings up a really neat option... they could just update the "Core" piece, and keep it backward-compatible with the existing lenses and battery.
They aren’t likely to replace the OneR every year. If/when they do it’ll likely keep compatibility with existing mods and add one or two exclusively new ones.
Thanks! Great! I understand that there is a WiFi (5D) output/transmission but is there ANY output (wired/wireless, digital/analog) that can be sent to a drone VTX (analog/digital)? (I hope to fly USING this and removing the typical FPV cam! (Perhaps the latency is too great!?)
Many thanks for your review and comparison. I just viewed "CHEAP vs EXPENSIVE - Osmo Action vs GoPro 9 - 2021 UPDATE" and decided that the Osmo Action has a nicer colour and more sharpness. But what you presented makes clear to me that the picture quality of the Insta360 One R is far superior. Sadly, it is also much more expensive. I haven't chosen jet for that reason.
Great overview of the cameras. I bought my One R 1 Inch Edition to be used as a car camera, both inside and outside (I consider it more a crash cam than an action cam). Housed in a SmallRig cage and audio through a Rode Wireless Go, it works a treat. The only thing I find disappointing is that there is no adapter that allows the use of your own filters. I have the Freewell ND set, but I'm not overly happy with them. I modified one of the NDs by popping out the lens (it virtually fell out with light pressure) and glued a spare 46mm B&W MRC filter in its place (these are so easy to keep clean and it also takes a regular lens cap). There is vignetting, but that goes away when I crop to 2.4:1 to match my other camera footage. I've also tried to find a short USB-C to 3.5mm audio cable, so that there's no need for the adapter (less connections to fail), but that has been impossible. I would recommend this camera any day over a GoPro.
Question about the Insta360 R. I have the 1-inch mode and the dual lenses 360. And I'm planning to visit different countries since I work in the airline industry. I want to create a traveling advice channel, so I will be doing interviews to local people and filming overall buildings, roads, houses (indoors as well). Will I be fine with these two mods? or I need to get the 4k mod?
Is there no control over the stabilization? I would be using it on a FPV drone and in some cases you want more and some cases you want less stabilization.
Great content, as usual! I considered using it as underwater cam, as I am not that pleased with lowlight capabilities of Olympus TG-5. I was thinking also about Sony RX100 IV in underwater case where advantage is ability to focus, closer minimum focus distance, brighter apeture and zoom. Do you think Insta's 360 One R 1-inch limitations wouldn't compromise its use as underwater cam too much? Maybe you can use it only as a complementary tool and not instead?
Those are completely different types of cameras, so it depends on what are you looking for. That they are different enough to justify buying both, although I highly recommend ZV-1 instead of RX100 IV.
@@TheHybridShooter I have already own two ZV-1s. I use one for vlogging but both of them externally powered as webcams and to record some footage of concerts from difficuilt angles or places where camera has to be unobtrusive and mounted on a micstand. However in this scenario externally powered RX100 IV with open memory tweak lifitng 4K recording limit would do just fine. So if I replace one ZV-1 with RX100 IV I could use the former for vlogging and the latter as underwater camera and regain some resources. If there were cheap underwater housings for ZV-1 I would never consider RX100 IV
Hello, I would really like to ask for your opinion. I want a cheap camera for cinematic-like videos from traveling, and I can't decide what camera I should get. I was thinking about ZV-1, A6400, Mobile, or some action camera. What would you recommend to me. Thank you a lot and have a nice day.
3:34 What's the default setting? Could shoot everything sharply and tone it down in your editing software afterwards to have the same effect? Or is the high sharpness already some crap filter? Basically: what's the "natural" sharpness of the sensor?
Ich habe die Kamera bereits über ein Jahr und bin sehr zufrieden. Gerade kreativ kann man hier viel ausprobieren. Tolles System. Vielen Grüße ronactive
Do you have to use faster shutter speeds for the One R Flowstate stabilization to work properly, as you do when you are stabilizing in post with the Sony models that offer a similar post-stabilization option with Catalyst Browse? If so, how do you get the proper amount of motion blur back in the clip after doing the Flowstate? Thanks, really enjoy your channel!
No, it woks well with slower shutter speeds, there are some low-ish light stabilization samples in this video: th-cam.com/video/QnvCHpUqXQk/w-d-xo.html
Nice Video! I like the camera but I find that stabilization using the 4K lens is not that good. I don’t have a steady hand so my video is too shaky. I try with a gimbal and only l get less shaky. My GoPro 8 is way better. The 360 lens though is more steady. I wanted the one inch lens but I decided to get the GoPro 10 instead
The minimum focus distance of 90cm didn't get in your way? I think it could maybe get in mine, but then again on fpv drones a subject is usually 90cm plus away from you
@@TheHybridShooter One R will always shoot max 4k60fps ultrawide. Later in the app if I want linear the image will be cropped (about 30%) and also stabil. will crop it again, so in the end the image becomes something around 1080p and is upscaled back to 4k (if you save it as 4k). So the only way to get your final video in true (not cropped and upscaled) in 4k is to put linier lens. So I wonder if it is possible to repace the lens in this 1 inch mode, so I could have the same detailed image as osmo pocket 1 that has linier lens.

Great long term review of the Insta360 One R module camera system. It’s very impressive. I’m a big fan of Insta360 One X2, it’s by far the best 360 camera I have ever owned. And it can perform like an action camera with it’s in single lens mode. Just one question, is the One R as rugged as the Hero 9? That module design doesn’t seem like can take as much abuse as the Hero 9. And I can’t say where I heard this, but beta testers have the DJI Action 2 and it has 8k 60fps video. So you may want to wait and see the final specs on that camera before purchasing any actions camera in the near future.
Thank you! As long as you use it in the included housing, it is basically as rugged as GoPro. I haven't found the single lens mode on One X2 to be usable at all, that was probably the worst image quality that I ever got from any camera that I have used. DJI Action 2 rumors are most likely fake, those have been around for a while. 8K on action camera would be absolutely pointless. Even if it had 1" sensor, action camera lenses can't get anywhere near being able to resolve 8K. Osmo Action is not selling very well, so it is unclear whether DJI will make Action 2 at all.

There is external storage and you can edit footage in mobile app. It uses SD cards, you don't need to transfer files to your phone at all. If 5.3K is too much for you, just shoot 4K... GVS is extremely nich function, so it probably wasn't a priority for Insta360.

@The Hybrid Shooter I edit on full mobile setup so these make more sense to me than to you and most of my activities are outdoor and endurance activities hence I have no time to edit at home. I still bring and my insta360 with me.
That is how it is with every similar device. You can export the footage in One R app, transfer it wherever you want to continue from there, I still don’t see any issues there…
The mount for booster battery introduces wobbling. It's quite hard to mount it steadily to any selfie stick or head mount (it always rattles around). But Flowstate stable eliminates this wobbling almost entirely.
