When he pulled that cymbal out from “Made in Japan”, I think my heart skipped a beat. That record is just flat out amazing. Probably not many reading these comments have missed it, but if you have never listened to it, stop whatever you are doing and listen.
I don't remember ever having listened to "Made in Japan" - but after all these recommendations I'm gonna give it a shot today as soon as I get the chance!! Ta👍👍👍

It really is a privilege that one of the greatest drummers in rock just does these videos out of the kindness of his heart (and maybe some boredom). Thank you, Ian
I had the pleasure of meeting Ian at the Australian F1 GP back in 2000, where Deep Purple had a 3 or 4 song spot, I think at the time. He is a true gentleman and of course, one of the greatest rock drummers of all time.
In the mid 70s he got married in the village I lived in as a kid. I remember my mates and I cycling up to the reception venue, hanging over the wall trying to catch a glimpse. He was a regular in the village in a yellow Rolls and then a green Porsche 928. Great memories!
Hi Ian , I’m in El Paso , Texas , I still have my ticket stub from February 17,1974 . At El Paso County Coliseum. Deep Purple and special guest Nazareth . $ 5.50 per ticket !!! My favorite Concert ever . Blessings !
Ian, I won a contest with the Bone radio station and went back stage and met you at the concord Pavillion in concord ca. In the early 2000's, you taught me so much over the years, I started our drum lessons in 1970. You were one of the greatest, in the same league as barriemore Barlow, Alan White. Gave you a letter. Thank you for everything, I turned out as a decent studio musician who jammed with some big names. Thanks again brother, to this day "The Mule" is one of the best rock drum solos. How do I know? NOT one mistake, never do the sticks connect, Barriemore was a bad ass too.
In every new video I watch, I keep thinking how classy, gifted, tasty, professional, and true musician, drummer, and person, Mr. Paice is. I was hoping to see the silver Ludwig of the 70's deep purple records. But no matter what kit it is, it's this man's groove that's always beautiful. Thank you Mr. Paice
I am 53 years old as of this post, I vividly remember being 6 years old and listening to your intro on Fireball and being blown away by it. My older brother is also a gifted drummer, and he had just gotten a hold of the Fireball record, amongst other Purple records. We lived in Costa Rica at the time and records there were really hard to come by. I got the opportunity, later on in 1984 while living in the States, to attend a concert by Purple during the Perfect Strangers tour when you all performed at Hollywood Sportatorium, Florida. Needless to say it was a dream come thru, all of you performed outstandingly. I would like to thank you for your great contributions to that era of music and all the way thru today. May God Bless you and your loved ones. Regards.
Can't get over what a nice guy Mr. Paice is. What a gentlemen. And what a contribution to music. What a contrast with today's petty and arrogant one day wonders.
A beautiful garage full of wonderful batteries ... Congratulations, Ian, it is a true paradise for every passionate drummer ... Greetings from Rome, Italy ... FABRIZIO IAN
Just came across this wonderful post. I modelled my drumming on buddy Rich and Ian Pace. With the birth of my first son who had health difficulty’s I had to sell my drums and stop playing music. I never stopped listening though, now my son is 35 I just bought a pair of sticks and trying to remember my rudiments, playing them on my mouse pad. Thanks Ian, you inspired me again with this lovely insight into memory’s of the past.
That's a great drum collection Mr Paice. Just see how well he's organized all of his drum sets. The respect a musician shows to his / her instruments speaks a lot about their success !!
Hello Ian Paice. Thank you for drum tribe videos like this where people can be "one on one" with the phenomenal Ian Paice! Also Ian thank you for the great recordings, performances and if I ever chose a Group to drum in it would be D.P. IAN, I LOVE YOU MAN YOU ARE MY HERO AND HUUUUUUGGGGGEEE INFLUENCE. PEACE OUT IAN! Without a doubt my favorite drummer ever. Seems to be a really nice person as well. I am nothing but focused when he speaks hoping to learn anything I can from this guy.
Thanks for this little "journey" through kits and times! Mr. Paice you have been my drumming role model and it was a real pleasure to watch all these drums and their stories! When I think back to a time when we had nothing but some LP's to hear you and maybe occasionally read some newspaper article about you... It is so good that we can see, hear and learn so many things that I have long wanted to know. Your drumming has always been a great mix of speed like Buddy Rich and explosiveness of hard or heavy rock!
Ian, I'm so glad you have decided to give up some free time. Very kind and much appreciated. I fell in love with Purple as a teenager, around the time you joined David in Whitesnake. You came to Norwich for a clinic as well. I'll send you a couple of pic's from that. You have brought much joy and inspiration to my best pal 'Butty' and myself. Both drummers and both influenced by you, to this day. Please keep posting and once again a big thanks.
I love IP. He was my first drummer-hero. I went from him to others that were in rock and jazz (fusion, mostly). I loved the sheer thunder of his sound. His bass drum and machine gun snare is incomparable. That's all. God bless you, Ian. Rock on buddy!
