The problem with the inflatable sail is who is going to pay for it. Ship builders are responsible for upkeep and maintenance of the vessels. However, the shipping companies are who pay all the travel expenses. Basically, the ones who will benefit from this, the shipping companies, are not responsible for building or improving the ships, the builders are. The way things work now is that the builders would have to buy the expensive sails and install them, only for the shipping companies to reap the rewards. There are numerous ways to power a vessel by wind that won't impede the maximum carrying capacity and will reduce fuel cost, but there are very few ships that actually use them thanks to the reason I described above

Modify CYCLONE with smaller moving propeller but the material must be TITANIUM or even stronger. It is not the size of the propeller but the material that could stand a tornado of wind.

Surely a burning question in this day and age and particularly with reference to maritime applications should be "is the sail system mentioned comprised of or does it incorporate significant quantities of plastic"? Would it not be profoundly ironic if it transpired that a major producer of various potential pollutants had envisaged such a system as an expedient means for exploiting a problem of it's own making?
The problem is not making durable multi use items from oil, the problem is that first we burn HydroCarbon fuels producing damaging and harmful gasses. Secondly that we produce so much single use plastics that dont get recycled ... USA is the absolute tops in this league by a long way. The third problem is shedding and breakdown of plastics into micro/nano fibers from abrasion and washing in particular of plastic based fabrics without adequate filtration to the point where there is no point on Earth that is not contaminated by micro plastics in the water Air and soils.. a baby born now in the developed world quickly has ten times the levels of micro plastics within its body than an adult. Burning plastics is only at best the equivalent of burning coal oil and gas. Recycling by melting and reforming is the only way to deal with the problem..till the natural organisms that attack hydro carbons can be harnessed to digest micro plastic wastes. The trouble is the size and threat of the problem V the willingness to investigate and test the long term solutions. Whilst rapidly cutting down our addiction to increasing amounts of the sorts of consumer crap we buy and use and then throwing it away, rather than repairing reusing and recycling materials whilst shifting to sustainable resources and energy sources. One of the pioneers of oil chemistry over a hundred years ago commented then- this stuff is too valuble to burn or waste... it is as it forms the chemical feedstock of much of our Engineering, Technology Agriculture and Medical sciences.

Instead of using the electricity produced by the solar panels directly for propulsion it is first used to electrolyse water THEN the hydrogen is turned to electricity by a fuel cell and THEN sent to the motors!
