I took the hike last summer! What a hike! Fantastic view! Going over the blade was a bit uncomfortable, but I managed to climb over the blade! Not for people afraid of heights! As a Norwegian I am very proud over our fantastic nature. 😊
@@doucheFTW If you are very afraid of heights it can be challenging. The most challenging part is over the blade, but it is not that narrow as it looks from far away. Bring lots of water and food. The hike is around 6-7 hours so it is an advantage if you are in a good form. I was not, so I was pretty exhausted after the trip. First part is very tuff for your legs.
@@doucheFTW That is a good question. Depends on how afraid you are of heights. I don’t like heights myself, but as long as you don’t walk near the edges, but walks in the middle I think you should be fine. Watch some videos from others and decide for yourself.
Did it last weekend, I was surprised by the "climb" part as I thought it would be just walking, tried to pass that part asap as I considered dangerous if it would start raining while passing by the stone "ladder" Rewarding views.
I went this route as I heard it is the traditional way of doing the hike. Going that way I had an incredible view into the heart of Jotunheimen, and I doubt doing the route in this video could be any better. I believe people choose the way shown in the video because you wont have to stress about reaching the ferry back to Gjendesheim. If you dont catch the last boat you will have to stay at Memerubu until the next day
I did the hike 43 years ago (!) starting at Gjendesheim, finishing for the day at Memurubu, where we stayed for the night. This video brings back great memories!
Between Memuburu and the beginning of Besseggen there are several water sources you can drink off. The cleanest is from the stream out of the small lake. Between Besseggen and Gjendesheim there you will have to carry all water yourself.

Bra guide 👍🙂
I did this 7 years ago solo. It’s one of the easiest hike I would say in my hiking experience. People of all ages can do if they are in good shape.
Exactly if you are in good shape, but some people are not like shown in the video.
So beautiful view my friend
I enjoyed this very much.
Nice video. Onto the bucket list 👌
Thankyou I'll added this place to my Norway list . ❤️ .
Check our our other video about the region, if you will certainly find something more to see.
One of the best tours, I have ever made. But listen to the guide. It is not easy. Be prepared.

i'm afraid of heights. should I not do it? will I fall over? what is the most difficult part?

@@DJ_TideWave I think I am physically fit for it since i run a lot and i also weight lift. however, how do i complete it if i am scared of heights?

@@doucheFTW I turn back from the ridge, was looking scary for me. But i dont give up and i try one more time in a few days.
August 2023, here we come!
Nice.

Rewarding views.
Nice. But last weekend was nice weather.
I was on Bitihorn last Sunday, and it was very warm.
What about starting at Ghendesheim, walking around bessvattnet, over the edge and back?
That’s totally possible, but you won’t have the nice views from the first part of the hike. It is also possible to start from Bessheim.

Are there drinking water available during the hike or should hikers carry all needed water from beginning?

@@XploreNorway Is it so that glacier water shouldn't be drinked?
@@vonheiz Yes, but glacier water is only find in Gjende and the river Muru, which you will only see at the beginning of the hike. Not along the hike.
@@XploreNorway is turquoise water main indicator that tells that water is from glacier?
@@vonheiz Yes, Ørjan explains it about halfway in the video.
Hello What is the topographic map you use in the video? Is it a website or an app? thanks.
It's the Norwegian site ut.no:
