    Lovely patches! The Dirty Echoes bassline at 13:09 was really epic sounding and the Wobbly Delays at 17:33 really took on a life of it's own. Can't wait to fire up my Taiga again and try some of these patch ideas! 🔥

      Thank you! I think the preamp circuit and the delay really adds so much character to the Taiga!

    Man, I love your demos! So much so, I ended up getting the Taiga 😂 I'd missed the release of the patch guide, so glad youve posted this. Don't forget to hit "edit-arp" button to enable paraphonic mode. Had me stumped for a while 😉

    Fun patches! I finally got a Taiga myself last week. It does things no other synth I have can do.

    What an awesome synthesizer! Pittsburgh Modular strikes again. That distorted section almost reminded me a bit of Soundgarden's "4th of July."

    Just got a Taiga. Struggling with it out of the box. I followed the quick start guide but it still behaving hella weird! Really odd. I'm triggering from an Arturia Minialb 3. Can see the LED's on the ADSR's triggering when I pres a key. But, they're not behaving well at all. And everything else sounds pretty off as well. Very odd. Not sure if it's broken or am just doing something silly! Any tips?! May have to get onto Pittsburgh I think 😕

    • @TheUnperson
      @TheUnperson  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If i remember correctly i had a difficult first few hours with the Taiga. The envelopes are very sensitive and most of the action happens within the first 10% of the knobs. I'd also check the dynamics control - open it all the way up to make sure sound is getting through. It takes a while to get used to it's quirky behaviour!

  • @freejazzbone
    @freejazzbone ปีที่แล้ว +1

    great sounds, how do you have the keystep connected to the Taiga? don't see any MIDI cables or any cables connecting the two, maybe it's the lighting? thanks

    • @TheUnperson
      @TheUnperson  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is a MIDI cable going to the Taiga :)

    • @freejazzbone
      @freejazzbone ปีที่แล้ว

      gosh, thanks, but i still can't see the cable, must be a black cable in the dark part of the video? the MIDI input on the Taiga is on the far left, oh well, doesn't matter, you've got other modular instruments connected to the Taiga. What's your recommendation for pairing another synth or drum machine with Taiga? DFAM, Behringer Edge? the Taiga does a lot more than the Mother-32, maybe Subharmonicon? Roland TR-08? guess any MIDI or patch/CV cable instrument will work, Taiga sounds amazing, thanks again

    • @TheUnperson
      @TheUnperson  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Taiga comes with a midi to minijack converter so it’s just a standard cable input on the front of the Taiga.
      I quite like to pair digital gear with analogue to get some unique things happening. Plaits would be a great 4th oscillator, or some fun effects like a sampler. I typically keep drum machines separate but I’m sure a DFAM/edge would be a fantastic companion :)

    • @freejazzbone
      @freejazzbone ปีที่แล้ว

      interesting, the Arturia Microfreak would probably pair up good with Taiga also,@@TheUnperson

    I was wondering… is a classic synth style mod wheel >> lfo amount possible? I haven’t found it on the taiga.

    • @TheUnperson
      @TheUnperson  หลายเดือนก่อน

      hmmm you could maybe do it by using the preamp section. Have the preamp process the LFO CV and the mod wheel modulate the preamp volume.

    • @oscarvanderburgh9915
      @oscarvanderburgh9915 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’ll try that out… thanks!!!

    Until this video I think I'd been a touch underwhelmed by the Taiga demos, but I get it now. This thing is capable of some pretty unique flavours.

    • @TheUnperson

      Deffo with you on that Boydw1... The demos until now we're just to me a lot of synth w&nkery rather than musical. Thanks Ali for doing this!

  • @compucorder64

    Was originally thinking of adding a Moog Grandmother as main simple strong monosynth, alongside my modular. But, now, I'm starting to think one of these in a similar case. End of chain reverb, loopable envelope and a versatile creative effects module would round this one nicely. For versatility, thinking maybe a Desmodus Versio (for flexibility) end of chain. Maybe DivKid's OCHD. And maybe a compact loopable envelope, like the cheap Rides in the Storm one, or ALM Pip Slope. uO_C or uMarbles could also be really useful.

    • @TheUnperson
      @TheUnperson  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think both options sound good. The grandmother seems like a very good synth - and the black version aesthetically really does it for me. The taiga + effects route is very powerful indeed and could keep you sound designing for years :D

    • @compucorder64
      @compucorder64 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheUnperson Definitely aesthetically the black version of the Moog Grandmother just sits right.
