I think I've watched every video out there about this synth, but this is the one that finally made me buy it. This is such a great deep-dive exploration and explanation of what it's all about, and the whole video is great, but my favorite parts by far were when you showed how far you can push it into really wild and unruly experimental territory
So much fun watching this one ! Just got my Taiga Tiger 3 days ago, and reproduced your patches and exploring this new synth, learned a lot tonight, thanks so much, Sarah ! 🙌
Very helpful, particularly using the Taiga's own OSC outputs as feedback loops as opposed to just the LFO/ADSRs or external CVs. Helped me finally "bond" with Taiga which I hadn't quite done yet, nicely done. Thanks.
There were 3 videos about this synth in my subscription feed; I watched yours third, and this is the one that really got me interested. You're a master at getting the craziest extreme sounds from ay device. Well done! Thank you
As always, it is an absolute pleasure to listen to Sarah as she calmly breaks down synthesizers into their component parts and pushes them to their limits. I can also highly recommend her course.
Hoorayy! Finally a demo that doesn’t act like it’s a Minimoog! Fantastic, you’re really showing the character of this instrument in a way I haven’t seen other videos do.
Thanks an M! This vid explains elements of Taigo so well, and unlocks vast possibilities for Taiga fun and sound design, which are really astounding. The weirdness possible with this brings me such joy!
I got a Taiga as soon it was available and still exploring what it can do. The most exciting new synth for a while. Very interesting video too. Thanks.
As an experimental electronics player, your channel is the only one that is musically interesting to me, besides your nice, calm, non-dudebro way of presentation. 🎶🧿
Thank you Sarah, very useful information and fun to listen to you and the fact that you like to experiment with sounds and not just the same old stuff. Thans again, great work!
First of all. I saw 3 vids on this synth this morning. Now it's late in the evening and you're the only one that makes a demo of the Taiga with some in depth interesting examples. After seeing this vid, the Taiga went from lower prio "wishlist", to top 3. Superb demonstration! Thank you! Subscribed!
I've got a minibrute 2s and I've been thinking about getting a rackbrute and adding this. No idea about other modules yet but this would definitely be first
You mentioned that most synths that you’ve used that have a wave folder only have one. Hydrasynth’s ASM-PWM is basically a wave folder. So if you think of it that way you have 4 available across 2 oscillators. Though it doesn’t sound quite as juicy as this analog goodness does.
Fantastic video. Close to buying a Taiga after a modular set-up rethink. Ousting a few modules, and probably my Kilpatrick Phenol, In favor of the semi-modular Taiga. I'll keep the modules that will compliment and add to what the Taiga has. I'll be able to get sounds right off the bat without necessarily having to patch. But have the flexibility to patch to take things further. I think this set-up will give me a little more immediacy and better focus. My modular journey has been a bit all over the place so far. I've bought modules largely on impulse. I've grown beyond the Phenol a little and patching the bread & butter stuff has become a bit tedious. Time to change things up a bit ;-)
I love how nimble your fingers are on the touch plates. If I tried to go that fast on mine, I’d probably “crash” in the knobs! Not many East Coast sounds here; you need another 1/2 hour.
I would have worked harder on my Clarke Technical Studies all those years ago had I thought an instrument extender like this might be in the future. Well done! and thanks for the insights.
Depending on your microphone you can do it either way, but if I recall this went into an interface and then back out to the Taiga. Just watch those levels!
That was a really great demo, Sarah. You gave me some really good ideas along with helping me understand the synth much better. It really does seem to be a very versatile machine with tremendous sonic possibilities. I want to see if I can cobble something close to this synth using VCV Rack.
thank you for having a clear well lit video, all the other taiga videos have some annoying artistic lighting or soft focus on it and im like the thing is already hard enough to see the labels how is this helpful
Hmm, wasn't taken by the Taiga, until this video. But it sounds really unique here. Similar to your Hydrasynth videos, where you really showed what makes it special. Complex sounds by leaning on their strengths: folding, FM, shaping. I'm thinking that Empress Zoia Euroburo could be a great partner / expander for these (even more so for a Moog Grandmother). Because it gives you all that powerful stereo digital processing chain after. But can also add extra modulation, random sources, or even digital oscillators / sub-osc.
Nice one Sarah great video and demo of the taiga 👍😈 only thing is now I may want one 😂 keep up the great videos .. o I will have to sub …… right done that I go check out some more of your video 👍👍👍
It does the classic sounds very well. You have all the elements here for it. I suggest checking out other demos people have done. That being said, of course it may simply not be to your taste. I just don't think Sarah is the one to demonstrate that sort of thing. It isn't really her specialty.
@@inthefade Yes, I’ve listen to all the other videos. We all know that that is about preferences. I do not think the nasal/tubular sound of the latest PM synths is the best for those “classic” sounds. I much prefer the more open/stringy sound of the Dreadbox synths for that. On the other hand, getting things sounding “experimental” with those boxes appears considerably harder than with this one. I love both makers, regardless.
I meeeeeeaaan this looks like totally next level flexibiliy and creative patching compared to Moog's platforms like M32 or Grandmother. In fact one of the main reasons I sold my GM years ago was the fact that it kinda did a few good sounds and any excessive patching just made it sound worse - potential downside of east coast? Anyway I've been thinking about going back to a Matriarch, but honestly it feels like Pittsburgh might replace their place for me. On the edge between Taiga (with makenoise controllers) or the Voltage Lab 2.
Great video - cool sounds! Just a note - Taiga is a native (also used in Russian) word for a type of forest in Siberia/Central Asia. It has nothing to do with tigers and is pronounced Tai-gah (with the stress on the final "a") I'm a native speaker, and have grown up in those regions. I'm surpriesd no one corrected the folks at Pittsburgh... All that aside - it's a very exciting synth and the sounds are fantastic!!
What ?! Still no Sarah Belle Reid’s demo/tuto on the Bastl Softpop SP2 ?! Tell me I’m dreaming ! The fact is that I dream indeed of watching such a video, since yours are (among) the most interesting, exciting, uplifting ones, like this Taiga’s, precisely. Anyway, thank you very much for your previous videos, always charming and inspiring. Oscillating regards.
Out of the box brand new and it’s a stone . Following the quick start everything on their website and all it does nothing but sound like it’s ungrounded . keyboard won’t engage no mater what I do guess it showed up broken . 👽✌️

best demo of the Taiga!
@sarahbellereid.... 🥰
Taiga feels like such a great compliment for the sorts of sounds you like to create and explore, so glad to see your take on it. 🙏🙏
I did not know Taiga could sound like that. Amazing sound design!
thank you! and thanks for making such a cool instrument -- congrats to you and Michael and the crew! :)
Didn't you design it,duh.
I think I've watched every video out there about this synth, but this is the one that finally made me buy it. Glad it was helpful, have fun!
I love how you focus on sound design. I think that is what the Taiga is about. Creating Odd sounds.
I'm really glad to see your take and sound sensibilities on Taiga! Thank You!
Very helpful, particularly using the Taiga's own OSC outputs as feedback loops as opposed to just the LFO/ADSRs or external CVs. Helped me finally "bond" with Taiga which I hadn't quite done yet, nicely done. Thanks.
I love playing with feedback!
Thank you for making a video with such experimental and exciting sound design!
7 months later and I am still in love with my Taiga and still using these FM feedback patches in my live shows, thank you!
I love that this vid is mostly amazing examples of sounds Taiga can me made to produce. Been looking for something like this!
There were 3 videos about this synth in my subscription feed; I watched yours third, and this is the one that really got me interested. You're a master at getting the craziest extreme sounds from ay device. Well done! Thank you
Same 😸
This is the only video where the person understands the instrument and what it’s designed to do. #opinion
As always, it is an absolute pleasure to listen to Sarah as she calmly breaks down synthesizers into their component parts and pushes them to their limits. I can also highly recommend her course.

Your FM work got the Taiga into Softpop territory. Nice!
Wow, I did not know this wonder.
I got a Taiga as soon it was available and still exploring what it can do. The most exciting new synth for a while. Very interesting video too. Thanks.
Very nice, thanks for watching!
I'm very glad u of all people managed to get this early to experiment with it.
Just bought one on the back of this- so kudos to you and thanks
Sarah needs to make a synth, since the designers have no clue what it is capable of. brilliant synth brain sarah.
Ahhh finally someone doing proper FM group modulation. I was doing that with the shapes today in the shop. Instant harmonic drone complexity.
Probably one of the better synth demoes that I have seen...
As an experimental electronics player, your channel is the only one that is musically interesting to me, besides your nice, calm, non-dudebro way of presentation. 🎶🧿
very helpful patch ideas. thank you!
31:30 Strong Majora's Mask giants vibe.
Thank you Sarah, very useful information and fun to listen to you and the fact that you like to experiment with sounds and not just the same old stuff. Thans again, great work!
You are so welcome!

You're welcome and thank you so much! 💙
I agree with the others here, this is the best demo I've seen of the Taiga yet. The other demos I've seen of it just weren't weird enough for me! 🙂
Was really really sure that the syntrx II would have been my next synth….I’m not sure anymore…well, I need both, 😅😅. Awesome video!
Epic sounds!
As a noise maker really appreciate your demo 👍
Thanks! This is the best presentation I have seen of this super interesting instrument. I want one!
This is the best Taiga video out there! Great ideas and out of the box exploration!
Thank you!🧡
I like the twelve bar blues at 25:19
favorite demo
Going to pair this with my matriarch and grandmother. Perfect combo imo
Well done Sarah. By far the best demo.
thank you!
Seems like a lot of fun in one box! First patch of 27:56 woke me up (still finishing coffee here lol )
Pittsburgh Modular knocked it out the park. Between this and Waldorf's incredible update of the Quantum, 2023's off to an unbelievable start.
So cool, im fan of your synth presentation videos
Awesome demonstration of a really amazing new synth!
Incredible.
Ace review, thanks
Sarah, you are living the dream: making weird noises... on purpose... and getting paid for it!
Thanks for video!
Thanks for the new thumbnail/covershot it's very cute :)
YEEEEEAAAAAH!!! Nice and weird. Sounds fantastic!
I've got a minibrute 2s and I've been thinking about getting a rackbrute and adding this. No idea about other modules yet but this would definitely be first
Really inspiring Video!
21:46 what a great sound!
Sick noise sounds. Thanks for showing that side of it in depth.
............ Placed an order for one today ;-) I feel better already! :D
Cool demo! Thx!
well done🙃💙thanks for sharing
I've been considering getting a West Pest, now I want this instead. Nice review and walkthrough.
You mentioned that most synths that you’ve used that have a wave folder only have one. Hydrasynth’s ASM-PWM is basically a wave folder. So if you think of it that way you have 4 available across 2 oscillators. Though it doesn’t sound quite as juicy as this analog goodness does.
What a beast!
your feedback techniques are giving me ideas. I'd like to see how you use phased-locked loops, if you ever use them.
16:00 "Bladerunner" worthy sound!
WHAT A NASTY MACHINE🙂👍💪
Fantastic video. Close to buying a Taiga after a modular set-up rethink. Ousting a few modules, and probably my Kilpatrick Phenol, In favor of the semi-modular Taiga. What modules do you think will complement or add to it?
The phrase "FM Feedback Experiments" makes my boyhood grow all turgid 'n whatnot.
Gee thanks Sarah....just ordered one. NOW what am I to do?
21:44 happy dolphin noises
nice video ... thanx 💙
Oh, I think is would pair really well with my MFB Tanzbar :)
That opening riff is such a banger.
The second one sounds like something from a NES RPG lol.
I love how nimble your fingers are on the touch plates. If I tried to go that fast on mine, I’d probably “crash” in the knobs!

ON SIGHT!
Great video Sarah! Did you connect the mic directly to the Taiga with like an adapter or used a mic preamp with line output?
Depending on your microphone you can do it either way, but if I recall this went into an interface and then back out to the Taiga. Just watch those levels!
That was a really great demo, Sarah. You gave me some really good ideas along with helping me understand the synth much better. It really does seem to be a very versatile machine with tremendous sonic possibilities. I want to see if I can cobble something close to this synth using VCV Rack.
Excellent demo young lady.

this thing is a bit of chaos..19 minutes it goes more like the Autechre route..I like that.
Hi Sarah - have you got any tips on how to make the taiga do a krell/generative patch?
Great video. As a Buchla person, this has much more interest than most. What is that keyboard controller?
The touch plate controller is the make noise 0ctrl
25:19 glitchy boogie woogie 🎶
A little High in pitch but Hypno Toad starting at 12;50 for the win
Nice one Sarah great video and demo of the taiga 👍😈 only thing is now I may want one 😂 keep up the great videos .. o I will have to sub …… right done that I go check out some more of your video 👍👍👍
Maybe a noob question: Is it possible to snyc the LFO to the clock ( = incoming MIDI tempo)?
Curious, Taiga or 0coast as my first semi modular piece to pair with my minifreak? What would your choice be?
It does not sound that great to me for the "classic" synth timbres. But it does sound amazing doing timbral exploration.
It does the classic sounds very well. You have all the elements here for it. I suggest checking out other demos people have done.

What are you using to get a mic signal into the modular system?
I came for the cat/tiger, and all I got was an incredible new synth

This thing with a KeyStep pro could easily replace and surpass the Moog Matriarch, it seems, in terms of sonic capability and modular connectivity
I really enjoy your videos.
*calm soothing voice* Hi, I’m Sarah Belle Reid.
*cuts to synthesizer* GHHRRRRTHNTHNTHBBBBTHBTHBCHKCHKXHXKCKK!!!!!!
👍
West coast = additive synthesis, east coast = subtractive synthesis. Anyway, that's what I was told :-)
most interesting taiga overview video (sorry, everyone else)
Great video - cool sounds! Just a note - Taiga is a native (also used in Russian) word for a type of forest in Siberia/Central Asia. Вот тебе надо вставить свои 2 копейки . Пусть как хотят так и выговаривают. Тайга это тоже не Русское слово.
With no cv over LFO or envelopes it hits a wall as far as I could appreciate it. Envelopes with no cv are a huge drag in my opinion.
6:00 OOOOOOOIIIWWWWWWUUUUUWWWWWOOOOWWW
That square ‘fold’ sounds a lot like pwm to me
Yeah I think it performs PWM for square as folding wouldn't really do much.
Yes, with the square wave selected it's PWM...
What ?! Still no Sarah Belle Reid’s demo/tuto on the Bastl Softpop SP2 ?!
Tell me I’m dreaming !

Well done. But its very expensive 900€ in Germany
