Bacteria overgrowth in the GI tract is extremely common. The two good lab tests I use with patients are the GI-MAP and the GI-Effects lab analysis, (from stool). Both list the bacteria and other pathogens in there, and what medications those germs are resistant too! That is extremely important to know!

Having a good doctor and nutritionist is an even greater challenge. Same here --- but you do it. You budget. You cut where you can and you'd be surprised, you can. I'm under poverty line, on long term disability from being a healthcare "hero" turned zero, and I was going broke trying to get better after total systems near failure and no medical help for 3 years. I tell you, you CAN. I never had a smart phone, so that helps. I don't do the coffee, nails, hair, etc stuff....don't eat out. It's for your health. I don't have children but I'm disabled, and ha a disabled mom and aging parents, while I"m trying to adopt a struggling child. I get it. It's worth it though, cause things just get worse unattended.

Thank You!!! You are greatly appreciated!!! I stumbled across your video at just the right time!!! I'm 74 and on no medications but, I, like you, believe most health issues are a result of nutrient deficiency. (I only take Vit. D3, magnesium, and K2 mk7). So to stay healthy, I wanted to check my nutrient levels and was willing to pay out of pocket to have my levels checked (supposed to cost $400.00 for blood work) - (I am a Canadian but, our medical coverage is for treating disease so extensive blood work for preventative purposes has to be out of pocket). So now, with your help, I understand a hair analysis is what is really needed. I will choose one of your 2 recommends. Now I will have to find someone in Canada who can help me deal with results - perhaps a dietician? I will check out your other videos in case you have a practitioner list. Thank you for sharing your research on this subject instead of keeping the results to yourself. Our health is really up to us. Due to Dr. shortage our Doctors are overworked and really only have time to look after the sick. We need a revamp of our healthcare system so that preventative medicine can become the focus so we can avoid getting to the chronic disease phase. Blessings in abundance!!!

Could you please make a video about common mineral deficiencies and the symptoms they correlate with? A lot of people can't afford hair mineral analysis or they live outside US. Even if they could afford it, as you said they would need to find a practitioner with experience in hair analysis which is hard to do. For me your videos about mineral balancing are both educational and frustrating.

    • @JoePlus8

Yes but if you can make a way to afford the minerals/aminos then you can save for the test. To Test FIRST is the most common sense thing you can do. Why would you guess and give your body something you don't need? Taking too much can cause damage just as not enough.
You end up spending less by knowing what you need and you get better results that way.

I wonder just how much fun it's going to be to get the VA to back this. I was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2018 and thank God for the VA. They can be a blessing on one hand and on the other hand a curse. I have a rougue VA Dental Clinic Director at a VA Dental Clinic near Sacramento who didn't like me saying I had a over active gag reflex when they wanted to outfit me with a upper denture. When eating, I've actually breathed food down my airway because of gagging with upper dentures and almost died one time because of it. Now, this clinic will no longer see me. It's outrageous for someone to make a personal choice to deny a Vet service at a clinic they don't even own.

I believe with this guy, the key is "balance."
Even our facial skin has a microscopic level ecosystem (I randomly picked a term 😂) that requires a certain balance to be maintained. Many people are battling with acne problems (seriously, this is a tiny issue but has a lot of impact on a person).
Many use lots of products and active chemicals which disrupt the balance in the skin, leading to a disrupted skin barrier, bacterial and fungal overgrowth, and so on. They don't consider that it could be a gut problem or a vitamin deficiency. I just recently learned that it could be Vitamin D that is deficient in a person with recurring acne.

Hi, Felix. Below, I've pasted some remarks I copied from Andrew Weil, M.D. What information can you direct me to that addresses the concerns that Dr. Weil noted? Unfortunately, as is often the case about health-related matters, I'm caught between two opposing views and I've no idea how to determine which is correct.
I know the medical system doesn't have everything correct, after having struggled to get help for myself from conventional doctors. They're very good at handling many emergency situations, of course. However, for more "chronic" or "mystery" health conditions, they don't seem to have much to offer but symptom management.
    Dr. Weil's comments:
Hair analysis has been widely promoted to identify or monitor trace minerals or toxins in the body, but is not reliable for these purposes.
I’ve written about another type of hair analysis on this site in the past. Some “alternative” practitioners recommend these tests to assess mineral levels in the body and then prescribe dietary supplements on the basis of the results. However, the only accurate way to get this information is by measuring levels in blood. Exposure of hair to substances in shampoos or hair dyes can distort results. Furthermore, some mineral levels can be affected by your hair’s color, diameter, growth rate, the season of the year, your geographic location, and your age and gender.
Furthermore, normal ranges of minerals in hair have not been defined, and no correlation has been established between levels in hair and other indicators of nutritional status. The concentration of a mineral in your hair could be high even though you may actually be deficient in it. Or vice versa.
Finally, there are no standards for hair analysis of mineral status, which means that it’s likely you could get different results if you sent hair samples from the same person, taken at the same time, to more than one laboratory.

I finally got a holistic doctor since my regular doctor always told me I was in the "normal" range for health. I knew something was wrong and decided to get a holistic doctor. Found out that in mainstream medicine, the normal range of health was what the majority of people's blood work showed. Well, over the years so many people are sick and the range opened up and therefore you fit into a bigger range that they call normal. This is convoluted logic and ignorant. My holistic doctor asked for more specific blood work and found out I was hypothyroid. Go figure!

Copper is not needed in large amounts. The average person ingests 3 to 5 mg/day. Since only 2 mg is required, there is a tendency for copper to accumulate. Copper may accumulate because zinc levels are too low or bc soft, acidic water dissolves copper from copper pipes. Too much copper can cause insomnia.

One doubt, if we are saying that body is actively pushing out magnesium why doesn’t this apply for all other minerals? If body is trying to push out through hair, then how can hair be representative of actual tissues inside of body ? Just asking these logical doubts as I didn’t study any medicine. It would be great if you can clarify. Thanks.

I have low zinc and copper in the blood, supplementing both. I will make a hair analyses.
How long do you recommend should I stopp supplementing befor doing hair analyse?
If their would be a different outcome it would be mind blowing cause all the time money hope spending on doctors supplements ran into the wrong direction. And if right supplementation would relieve me a 10% it would great and if it would heal me for about 60% well then it is a revolution which would give me my life back which is since years more suffering then anything else and I would honestly think about giving the world something back including you.

Thx man, that very valuable, informative video, I was always thinking that blood works itself isnt suficcent way and it got nothing to do with bones density. I guess they might collect your bone marrow and check it aswell in terms of trace elements? Anywy, I'll try to get my hair analysis done. Thx.
