    Wow, needed all that @9:18! Medical school applications are so nerve wracking but I’m so excited to thankfully finally start getting DO and MD IIs. I think I will be taking your research course prior to matriculation to get a good start!

    Unfortunately, the match rate will continue to decrease (especially for DO students) since the number of DO programs and seats continue to increase while the number of residency spots remain the same.

      It’s been increasing for DO for the last 20 years. Do your research before spreading misinformation

      There are more residency spots than both US MD and DO graduates every year. I think you mean to say IMG, since as there are more DO programs, IMGs will get displaced from residency positions.

    Wondering if you could do a video about resident application for non traditional medical students like those who go to medical school in late 30s and early 40s. Are there barriers for old applicants? Thank you!

    In the milion dollar cost she mentiond she probbably included rent and other neccessary expenses for which people need the money, in this case people either need to do another side job or get in debt/interest rate will probbably double the amount..

    Kevin- How did your friend leave in the middle of EM PGY-1 year and move into a Neurosurgery PGY-1 position? I thought the 1st year of residency was legally binding?

    1 Million can include Interest on loans...Easy...

    • @kevinjubbalmd
      @kevinjubbalmd  หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      For med school + residency loans to approach $1mm you’ll need a high interest rate and extremely long repayment period. So no, $1mm is a gross overestimate

    In the education cost, I think she included undergrad, all her tests (MCAT, Steps, boards, etc...)

    • @kevinjubbalmd
      @kevinjubbalmd  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Still doesn’t add up anywhere near a million dollars. Tuition/living is the bulk of expenses (which I included for both undergrad and medical school). MCAT USMLE etc are drops in the bucket in comparison.
