I Raised Chickens Using Viewer Comments

One year ago, I made a video where I swore to never raise Cornish crosses again. But thanks to all the comments and suggestions from my viewers, I decided to give it another shot. Join me on this journey as I raise Cornish crosses using TH-cam comment suggestions and see if it turns out better this time.

I have quail and Indian runners. I started giving them food twice, morning and evening. Then in the morning they are hardly ever fighting for food to the extent that my rather filled with testosterone males are in one group of ab 30 (no will to kill, kept as poop makers) and they live like Irish lads over a pint of beer. I love them. I hated their fights. Now my quail hens can enjoy their rest in their own houses. I have no cage approach to life, but they are in little houses in which they have solid floors, stairs, storeys and hiding places.
I plan to make them a set of connected outdoor spaces to grow food in.

I do my salatin style. Cornish cross is best bang for buck. Typically lose 10% of chicks ordered. I ferment my food in buckets to make it more cost effective. 1/4# per bird fermented is about a 1/3# per bird. Only feed once per day and they get lion share of scraps as well. It’s worth it to pay more for males only. Last 2 weeks of starter before slaughter adds the weight. 8-9 weeks. Oh and a plucker is worth the expense, just cut feet off before you put them in.
