The album "Century Child" by Nightwish is the Album I am most familiar with as I was introduced to the album by its songs "End of All Hope" and "Over the Hills and Far Away".
An artists must go through a lot in life, become of age to come up with such a devastatingly powerful lyrics, words of wisdom that can make one feel hopeless, lost and at the same time not alone. We all question and conclude the same things...

Realizing all your efforts to accomplish the dream were "In vain." In the end nothing is left but the heart that desired the dream. Steven Miller Funnny thing about interpretations is that there are as many as there are people in this world. I think this song is about human civilization on this world. We may believe it's perfect, or want it to be, but it has a dark side, its own demons. And, we're here only for a brief time, a blink in the timeline of the cosmos, a microbe in space so big we cannot fathom it. It doesn't matter what we do, it's all in vain. We may believe we're here to stay, or that the universe revolves around us, but in the end, our civilization will not last forever, and humanity will be forgotten. At least that's how I see it. Sharon explained in an interview about the album's apocalyptic setting and how our society controls us, algorithms in social media decide what we see etc, so that seems to fit.

I don't know, but I think it's good a song like this invites people to think about these things. :) In contrast to be 'motivation killer', perhaps it can also be a comfort, as in don't take things TOO seriously all the time, as they might not be as important as you think. @Steven Miller I personally think that song represents how one's horrible event in life can be another's ''gold'' (''beautify all I know...let it all turn to gold''), and how that person is afraid of expressing their dreams and wishes (''when the dream touches ground'') because others will destroy it (''demons walk in''). So that person in song now is expressing their wish to escape their toxic environment and toxic people (''nothing of the heart remains, even if we could have stayed/everything we've tried to say up until the final day'') and to move on with their life in their new environment (''we've been here long enough to know it's all in vain''), but at the same time they wanna ''turn around'' because of discouragement from that toxic environment previously experienced.

I've always loved what the band does with their instruments, the way _they_ play and the way _they_ express themselves through their music. And I find Sharon such an amazing singer, I'd swear that she's the best singer in the world to me! Put that together with the band and, man, this band just works for me! I've never been a fan of bands, still aren't much of a fan of bands, I just like individual songs. But I've liked almost all the music that Within Temptation has made, from before Mother Earth up until now! I think I can safely say that I'm a fan of this band. I really am! This gal.......this fem singer.......this WOMAN..... against all critics. Against all supposed failures. Against a music industry owned and dominated by males......HAS SURVIVED and has done so with certain splendor. I once wrote an amazing article that was widely read and accepted circa 2014 that at that time it was a golden age of fem/symphonic metal. More recently I was believing that had sadly ended. HOWEVER.....these gals. These amazing Dutch gals have revived my conclusion with absolute inspiration as all 3 of them: Sharon Adel/WT, Simone Simons/EPICA, and Charlotte Wessels/Delain have all just released amazing new albums. I do not quite know what to say or what to expect next except for one Dianne Giersbergen I can only wonder regarding her separation from Xandria and at this point will she be the only great Dutch fem left out? I hope not. Ailyn (formerly SIRENIA = band RIP) is supposedly working with guys in a new band project and Anette Olzon formed The Dark Element last year with former song writer and guitarist from Sonata Arctica ( band =RIP). Even Toumas Halopainen went and joined another band that has a singer who sounds exactly like Anette Olzon (Nightwish band = RIP). OMG. Make no mistake about it, these type of events are almost Biblical in significance and we are seeing not only a symphonic metal revival......but one that is totally validating these great female singers in ways beyond words. I will be hard at work the next few weeks updating my youtube channel 100% dedicated to this genre = TOTALLY FEM METAL CHANNEL. Already are over 300 fem rock/metal bands listed there....and so many more to come!

there are just no words how this one song from WT says everything I ever thought and felt. This band followed me through my life from a young age, always on point, every word is the truth that they utter. it's like, if they asked me what one song I wanna take to hell with me when I die , it is this one. thank you WT for always touching me, for everything you did for us all.

there are just no words how this one song from WT says everything I ever thought and felt. This band followed me through my life from a young age, always on point, every word is the truth that they utter. it's like, if they asked me what one song I wanna take to hell with me when I die , it is this one. thank you WT for always touching me, for everything you did for us all.
