It would have been interesting for sure, but probably wouldn't have advanced Ray's story any further. He wasn't interested in the Alien tech, just trying to survive.

@@NERRP2017 That's true, they do appear to be more powerful. Likely designed for the front line assault on human military and defenses. Not sure about the extra heat rays or baskets, none of those details are shown. Though the machines seem to change sizes throughout the film. The one that rises out of the Hudson River is substantially larger than the one that is shot down at the end. I enjoy that they are simply left a mystery. There's probably a lot about the Aliens that the regular refugee survivor would never know or experience.
