The generals he chose have a trait called ,,promotion leader" which makes them promote faster. Thus, they will make level faster, have more traits and better stats earlyer. In the war with china, tommy farms xp and level for generals, which is a very good tactic.
That naval battle was pretty stupid tbh. US's screening efficiency was 50% meaning that 50% of Japan's torpedoes were passing through the screens into the capital ships, Japan's destroyers and light cruisers just either couldn't score any hits or they got killed before they could start fucking the capital ships with their torpedoes.
i never really care for navy anyways, you can basicly just use cas naval bombers or tac bombers to harras trade routes or get enough vision for naval invasions.
So what he did at around the 7.00 min mark, i still dont know why he did that? was it to reduce a penalty or something? Or reduce the time he is out of action?
