What map do you think got the best rework? Do you agree or disagree with our analysis of these maps? Thanks again to Gravity for helping me with this video. Part 2 will be out later this week! :)
The list is not bad. I Play mostly breakthrough and rush on old Gen version of the maps. To me my list of good maps would Stranded, exposure, Reclaim, and now Hourglass and Breakaway. If you play on old gen, These maps better maps to play on. Flashpoint and spearhead works better on conquest 64
Gravity is one of my favourite and sadly underrated BF content creators. You’re great as well Catalyst, but his map analyses are second to none. Great pairing, glad to see y’all working together
Actually, you have a door that remain opened during tornados on Renewal in Conquest. It's at the far North section of the wall almost near the edge of playable area, the only downside is that it makes you more far away of all objectives but if you want to go on the other side of the wall with your tank or Wildcat or anything else during tornados there's your solution. (It's amazing what you can learn by observing where bots are going sometime)
Maybe I'm just bad, but I find Discared in breakthrough to be absolutely miserable. It feels like you have to either sit somewhere bored, or accept that you're cannon fodder for vehicles, especially on defense. The latter half of the map is especially guilty of this. The transport helicopter is genuinely impossible to take down because of how easily they can break line of sight by using the ship, and even the Wildcat can't take it down in between the flares being deployed and it running away behind the ship. Again, maybe I'm just bad and missing something, but this map is in "Alt + F4" tier for me (although I play on console).
128 player breakthrough had more variety and lesser chance of having a team full idiots. Vehicles where even and balanced(just get better). Most of the maps was playable and you where not limited to an open field with the main objective being a pile of containers and sandbags. 128 player breakthrough felt like an invasion.
The annoying thing is that the first couple of sectors are actually quite fun but the last 2 sectors are just pure rage-fuel whether you're attacking or defending.
What do you think of these scores? Do you agree or disagree? What do you think is the best reworked map in the game? Thanks for watching and thanks to Gravity for helping me with this video! Part 2 will be out later this week.
I’ll just never wrap my head around how much dice fumbled when they designed these maps. They literally had the Perfect formula with bf4 and bf1! One thing I do appreciate they added back was the ability to reach anywhere (if it’s in the map boundary) I believe in my little time of bf5 was very strict on what you can climb on
I really enjoyed the video. As someone who likes to learn whenever I can analysis videos are some of my favorite. As someone who tends to prefer Conquest but plays both game modes, I would say that Discarded probably has the best rework, but I wish that the flooded town sector seen in Breakthrough and Conquest 128 was present in the 64 player version.
My Ranking For Breakthrough: Hourglass: 4/10 - Needs more cover, better spawns, first sector sucks, but much more fun now Stranded: 7/10 - Some maps play way too fast. Can get repetitive feeling. However, the opportunity for huge flanks and massive kill games raises it for me, I like the aesthetics. Flashpoint: 6/10 - It grew on me. I think the 4th sector is one of the best in the game. The head glitches can be annoying, visibility is bad. But I have fun on this map more often than not. Renewal: 9/10 - I love this map. Every sector feels extremely unique and different. Aesthetically it is beautiful as well. I like that any weapon is viable. Attacking and Defending both feel fair. I love sectors 1/2/3/4 Discarded: 7/10 - Sectors 2/3 have much more character and the map feels much more fun, instead of just fighting in multiple boats. Bad aesthetics hold it back. Smoke grenades are required. Breakaway: 5/10 - They shrunk the oil rig for no reason? Extreme verticality on the first two sectors (B is literally undefendable with the worst spawns in the game to boot). I like sectors 3/4 but I hate getting there. (I also disagree with Grav on the gas tanks blowing up lol). Kaleidoscope: 3/10 - If this map didn't have a fun second sector I wouldve given it a 1. This map sucks. Worst visibility ever.
In all bf games i find 2042 to have the best mid tiers rotation now. Others games have awesome and awful maps. I quite like the maps now. As mostly a 128CQ player here is my listing. I will say that hourglass used to be the worst and for me it had the most potential and the rework is such a let down because if what it could have been. Could have became top 3. Spearhead 8/10 Discarded 7.5/10 Stranded 7,5/10 Orbital 7,5/10 breakaway 7/10 Exposure 7/10 Flashpoint 6,5/10 Renewal 6/10 Manifest 6/10 Hourglass 5/10 Kaleidescope. 3/10 I dont play 64 CQ that much but. I do beleive that the best map in 2042 is hands down Arica Harbor. An old one Honarable mention to Breakaway 64 and Reclaimed which is a solid 7/10.
It took me a while to figure out that Gravity was actually with u on this, he sounded like he is scripted😂😂😂. I love 2042 launch maps even before the rework. All it needed was objectives to be closer and more destruction/levelution that can provide cover while also making camping limited.
Hourglass, breakaway are the worst maps on breakthrough and rush especially as an attacker, instant death as soon you leave cover from a sand dune, kaleidoscope plays better, stranded is mediocre map but fun on breakthrough, decent on conquest
Kaleidoscope is my least favorite map.. its too spread out and the skatepark is my favorite feature but completely useless. Point A is too far. At least in hour glass half the people fight in the town and the villages can be fun. Im kalidascope juat point c is fun simetimes but thays it, but pwople camp the roof apots too much. It also feel like you never have the right gun for the rught moments, wither you are too far or too close and you fall asleep running to the points and get gwt shot as soon as you make it cause you are hardly paying attention
Just not as good as 2142 was Which was just not as good as BF2 was Quanity 2042 players in no way equates to anything like Quality 2142 fewer players pers erver

THEY ALL GOT REWORKED?!

@@CosmicRandom2122 that's the best part
23:00 HOLY SHIT ! I havent checked in on this game in forever, but is that a SCOREBOARD?!
that was a pretty early on fix they did
@17:00 Little caveat, the northern-most door is always open during the storm.

They dropped the ball not incorporating the stadium in Hourglass. There should at least be a TDM mode.
Love the videos
Naw the hourglass rework imo made it worse they removed the village and the stadium and it’s more Barron than before

We both had scripts, but when recording, Catalyst prefers to be more natural. Different styles :)
anytime renewal pops up it's an insta back out cuz that some dog.

And Kaleidoscope is place for snipers and Helis to destroy you when you going to your objectives
The maps are way way too big the game needs to be trashed and start a new one. I've been playing since BF1 there's no fun factor in maps that big.

Kaleidoscope and Hourglass still suck.
Kaleidoscope is the worst map by far bo matter what....it needs to be shrunken
