  • Annie Sherwood Hawks published her first poetry at just 14 years old. She felt the presence of God at an early age and it continued as she became a devoted wife and mother. This hymn was one of over 400 that God brought to her heart. She stated that it was never more real to her than when she lost her husband of 31 years. Loss and tragedy often make us realize our great need of a loving God.

    LYRICS:
    1. I need Thee ev'ry hour,
    Most gracious Lord;
    No tender voice like Thine
    Can peace afford.
    Refrain:
    I need Thee, oh, I need Thee;
    Ev'ry hour I need Thee;
    Oh, bless me now, my Savior,
    I come to Thee.
    2. I need Thee ev'ry hour,
    Stay Thou nearby;
    Temptations lose their pow’r
    When Thou art nigh. [Refrain]
    3. I need Thee ev'ry hour,
    In joy or pain;
    Come quickly and abide,
    Or life is vain. [Refrain]
    4. I need Thee ev'ry hour,
    Teach me Thy will;
    And Thy rich promises
    In me fulfill. [Refrain]

    It's not just famous or wealthy people God uses. He often uses ordinary, simple people like a housewife to do his bidding. Praise Jesus!

    "Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God." (2 Corinthians 3:5)
    As even Jesus said, the sinless one: "of myself I can do nothing." (John 5:30) He did what God(Spirit) gave him to do, (John 14:10) And yet so many believe that Jesus is God and that he walked the planet doing great miracles. Totally overlooking what Jesus himself said. It's amazing to see.

      Fully GOD, fully Man. Emmanuel, the only Begotten Son. LORD of all, Name above all names...the suffering servant, Savior of the World.
      HALLELUJAH!

      @@jameszimmerman2965 ...How is that possible? Seeing that Jesus himself said that Father God is the only true God (John 17:3) And so did the Apostles (1 Corinthians 8:6) And Scripture cannot be set aside, (John 10:35) And there are no contradiction in God's word. Hope that helps you see and grasp the simple truth. God(YHVH) help you.

      @@bosse641 JESUS did claim to be GOD (John 8:58), One with the FATHER (Jn. 10:30), declaring that he who sees Him has seen the FATHER (Jn. 14:7)-which the prophet Isaiah foretold (Isa. 9:6 - "The Mighty GOD, The Everlasting FATHER")...
      His Apostles declared that He is GOD (Jn. 1:1; Titus 2:13-14), and that He came down from Heaven as The obedient Son & perfect Sacrifice (Jn. 1:14; Philippians 2:5-8).
      Think about Exodus 20:1-3...if JESUS were not who He claimed to be, and who His Apostles claimed - then He would be a blasphemer, and a violator of the very 1st Commandment.
      But He truly is LORD - and that's what 1st Cor. 12:3 really means. He is YHWH-and said so in Jn.8:58. And as you said, the Scripture can't be broken. He is fully GOD, and yet fully Man. The 2nd Member of The TRINITY/or Triune GODHEAD. The only Begotten SON. He's Amazing! HALLELUJAH!
      I got saved on 9-4-'91, and have walked with Him ever since. I am so grateful for His Grace and Mercy. Our GOD is so good. I'm also glad to see you here, because I love the work Robert J. Morgan has done! Truly inspirational. Thankyou for responding to me, and in time I hope and pray that the LORD Himself would answer you and bless you in His Name. The Name of the FATHER, and The SON (Jn.17:11; Mth.28:19 & Acts 2:38), and the HOLY SPIRIT (Jn.14:26). Amen.
