- Krishnan Guru-Murthy: 'You might argue we are seeing this week who both Labour and the Tories don't mind upsetting.
For Labour it seems to be the left - with many of them angry at how Diane Abbott is being treated, even though Keir Starmer still claims no decision has been made on whether she can stand again.
For the Tories it seems to be young people who, already facing the prospect of unpaid national service, are now told many of their degrees are a waste of money, as Rishi Sunak promised to close down failing degree courses to fund more apprenticeships.
As Gary Gibbon reports.'
Starmer and this version of the Labour Party will never have my vote again.

People saying she has done nothing wrong are clueless, she has a history of making gaffs and inappropriate comments all the way back to the 90s. While the first black British MP she isn't an example of a great leader or person. The Obamas, Ali, King Jr or Malcolm X are all great examples. Not Diane Abbott. If she was white and had made the same gaffs/inappropriate comments historically, there would be no discussion she's problematic. Just because a person is black, they should not want to use it to score points or play the victim.
n my opinion Irish travelers and Jews cannot face racism by mainstream white society because they are also white, however, they may face prejudice and discrimination for a variety of other reasons. Racism is a structural tool used against non- white people to prejudice them by means of systems imposed to affect their daily lives based on the colour of their skin. For example health, policing, finance, education, housing and every form of civil society. Black people do not have the power to affect the daily lives of white people in mainstream society in a subjugated way , they have no power to make policies which affect the lives of white people to determine where they live or the way in which they are governed, eg; overrepresentation in prison and mental health institutions and so forth. Racism is the philosophy that hold one race superior and another inferior.
I think Diane Abbott would be better of standing as an independent and separate herself from the hypocritical Labour party. Labour and conservatives are two wings on the same bird. It is funny how the conservative donor was exempt from the racist comments he made about Diane Abbott.

I think a lot of these private businesses are leeches on the NHS. Notice how often even the seats in the waiting areas are change in a year -- each time a new design: chairs on wheels, months later, new chairs but the wheels are gone, and now, sofa chairs with head rest... I was to find out the wheels were necessary so that the cleaners can move them out of the way and not hurt their back when cleaning the floor.
As for the equipment and gizmos. don't get me started: It is like visiting a hi-tech showrooms. It is bleeding-edge technology, and every few months replaced with upgrades. All these frequent upgrades must cost the NHS billions and billions of pounds!
I am not a nerd, but visiting my local hospital, for me, has an added benefit: I get to see the latest updates of equipment and furniture.

@tonyevic Well, she was my MP when I lived in Hackney and was very well respected in the community. She has principles, and her voting record is impeccable.
Even if you don't like her, she should not be treated this way, while those who have said worse things get off without problem... including Starmer, spouting off supporting war crimes, and then saying he didn't. He's very dangerous.

As far as Abbott is concerned what is Labour's plan to save the NHS compared to the possible end of her cushy career as an over-promoted and over-paid MP.
I'm going to say it because no one else seems to want to. Getting the likes of Corbyn and Abbott out of labour has been wanted for a long time by quite a lot of Labour voters including myself. No one wants to come out and say this is a good thing out of the fear of being labelled a racist.
This isn't the first mistake Dianne has made and it seems like everyone has conveniently forgotten that she's actually pretty useless as an MP.

I'm sure she's decent as a local MP but when she's required to hold a shadow cabinet role or speak to the media on behalf of Labour she has proven time and time again that she just can't do it, she somehow walks away looking worse.
If she wants to stand as an independent then fine, if her constituents love her that much then she won't have any problems, but there are many of us who have wanted her gone for a while.
