    Wait, there are people who HAVEN'T steamed their faces? My mum does that to open up her pores, and every time I have a cold, she tells me to steam my face so my nostrils will clear up. It works.

    We use cold cream as a primer for theater makeup all the time. It prevents it from getting in your pores and it's easier to remove afterwards!! You don't use a thick layer, just a thin one. Like you were using it for moisturizer.

    As an Old Hollywood Historian, Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe never did those things... They certainly had their beauty routines, but they never did those specific things, in fact Marilyn would always stay away from hot water when it came to her face. And she would put vaseline all over her face, not an actual moisturizer.

    YOU DON'T PUT THE BAR OF SOAP DIRECTLY ON YOUR SKIN! you're supposed to rub it on a damp or wet washrag and then put it on your body. when i lived in a house with no running water, i took 'birdbaths'; i'd get the washrag soaped up then clean my 'important bits' as my mam called it. we'd rinse with one pan of cold water. even with hot running water now, i''ll never forget bar soap. learning that you don't have to make your own soap, and that it came bottled, was mind blowing when i was older.

      I suppose I just have sensitive skin, but anything too thick and creamy like that always makes me break out no matter how well I cleanse my face. I have to use lightweight products that are more water based and less oil based or it's breakout city for me.

    • @TeenDream888
      @TeenDream888 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      i have dry sensitive skin and cold cream is a godsend! if i wash it all off and follow with moisturizer, i've never had a problem. with sensitive skin, water based is not as great because it can dry your skin out easily and cause patchiness and redness. that's why i love the cleanser and moisturizer from Pond's-my skin soaks it up and is softer than a baby's bum!

      Not necessarily, though the shock of the treatment might do that. If you have really dry skin cold cream is a miracle, but for the others who don't washing the oily residue off will help. And then steaming and putting your face into hot water will help clean out the pores a bit. However, I always heard you had to steam your face and then rinse with cold water to close the pores once you were done.

    Honestly, I do a lot of this. I use coconut oil (not olive oil) to remove mascara. I love bar soap, especially during the summer, and I steam my face when I need a facial or have a cold. The only problem with steaming your face is that your hair becomes pretty frizzy, so it is best to put it in a shower cap or before a shower. Also, splashing your face with hot water and applying a toner right after makes it SOOOO soft.

      LovelyHermycat Hermione I make soap by hand and if your soap I made correctly, you should be able to use it on your face every day. commercial soap with all of the chemicals, false advertising, and preservatives have made it too harsh for skin. handmade soap is skin loving. I use it every day.

      mina meneses Dove soap is amazing! I used all kinds of acne products and nothing ever worked, but dove cleared up all my acne within weeks. It's still the only thing I will wash myself with, body and face.

    Also, I haven't used Pond's since the 70s, but I do have a huge tub of Nivea creme here at my desk. I used a LOT of it!

      African black soap is better to use. its not like regular soap. it has Shea/cocoa butter and other natural ingredients. I use it on my face but you can also use it to bathe with as well.

      Mr Gazebo I'm sorry you feel that way... I wasn't trying to get sympathy for my looks at all because that wasn't what I wanted. I still suffer through skin problems & was severely bullied for it. So I know how it feels. Also I was overweight in beginning of high school so idk it sucks but you shouldn't be angry at people for it. I was for a short period of time but that just made me feel more miserable :/

    Ponds cold cream is the same today as it was then. Smear it on your face and use a warm wet washcloth and take that makeup off. It's the best, especially for dry skin.

    My mom, born in the 60's told me the cold cream trick to remove make-up. She herself does not use make up, but uses ponds cold during winters to avoid dry skin.

    I steam my face everyday...I've never actually researched it, but my philosophy is that if my pores are open, then cleanser can get deeper into my skin and clean it better.

    Cold cream is amazing. I legit use it every day but I also use a clenser and toner to get everything else out of the skin.
