My dad passed while I was deployed overseas. The last thing I said to him was "Dad if I ever have a son, I hope he loves me as much as I love you".

As somebody whose father wasn’t in my life, and now with my wife expecting our first child, this song reminds me to give my future child everything I never had.

You got my tears flowing, Amber. Every year, my girlfriend/wife would do something special for me on "Papa's Day", for 23 years. She passed away 3 years ago and ALL that I can hear in my mind now is her saying in a happy tone, "Happy Papa's Day, my Papa!" 😢😢😢
One day I was at home playing my guitar and my brother and his friend stopped by. I started playing this song and after I finished, his friend had tears in his eyes and a big smile on his face saying "That's what's up"! A good country song will do it every time!

MY DAD, GOD REST HIS SOUL, ALWAYS TOLD ME HOW MUCH HE LOVED ME! I remember the night I went home from one of my first jobs...and told him the assistant manager had pushed onto a package of bags in the stockroom of the store I worked in and ripped my blouse open sending buttons flying! He said "OK I'll take care of it tomorrow!" He came home the next day and said " YOU'LL NEVER HAVE TO FEAR THAT MAN AGAIN! I HANDLED IT!!!" I don't know what happened...but I never saw or heard of that man again! My Dad ALWAYS had my BACK!!!

You guys got me... My dad died in 2003. He was always a country music lover and George Strait was one his favorites. On the way home from the hospital on the day he died this song came on. I lost it and had to pull to the side of the road. Two years later on the anniversary of his death I started my car to go to work and this came on the radio again. I really don't have country music on my radio that often and it has happened out of the blue on a couple of other occasions since then including once on my birthday. Tonight I am going thru the channels I subscribe to on TH-cam and what do I see? You reacting to it on Father's Day. I lost it just like I did on the day he died. I don't believe in coincidences in general and especially not after that many times. My dad is reminding me just like the Man upstairs, his love is a "Love Without End, Amen." Thanks for being the messenger this time.

I just played this song at my dad's funeral a few days ago.
Check out Marty Stuart. He's been around awhile (played with veterans like Lester Flatt and Johnny Cash). You could check out some of his songs like Hillbilly Rock, Western Girls, Little Things, Going, Going, Gone, Burn Me Down, Tempted, Time Don't Wait and a couple with Travis Tritt, The Whiskey Ain't Workin' and Honky Tonkin's What I Do Best.

You may think that when you have your children that your heart couldn’t be more full of love, until you have grandchildren. My kids never got to meet my Dad, he passed in ‘74, my kids were born in ‘88 and ‘91. When my oldest grandson was born in 2017, it opened up a new section of my heart that I’d never known. I retired from my career, so I could take care of him to save my kids from paying for daycare, and have NEVER regretted one second and when my second grandson was born in 2021 I help take care of him too.

I lost a adult son last year to mental illness. My love for him continues with his children and wife. Our Father in Heaven has no end for His love when we don’t deserve it and when we do. We as Fathers should strive for the same.

My Dad left before I was born, and I only saw him maybe 5 or 6 times after that before he passed from Alzheimer's. I got to speak to him a few brief times toward the end, and he was still extremely reserved, but I think in his own way he loved me as much as he knew how. I haven't cried over him, because how do you mourn someone you barely knew? But I hope he's in Heaven now, waiting for me when my own time eventually comes around.
My son who we had my Granddaughter and his wife with us at dinner. He gave me a card that he said that said that is the way really feels. It was that I had been his rock his entire life as being his his stepfather. I was fine until watching this. Tears and a nose running!

I was with my Daddy when he took his last breath and I thought my heart would break, I couldn't imagine how I could go on without him. But, you just have to remember all the good times and it will help you get through it.

George is a SERIOUS golden voice. They say when he was an established artist and had the clout to get away with it, he’d fly in on a recording day, walk in, fix himself a martini, and then walk into the studio and Nail it in one take.
George lost his 12 year old daughter in a car accident when she was 12.If you ever get a chance to see him live You may see a tear in his eye.
