I think they’re just gonna add star ratings to every difficulty of each map kinda like ranked Beatleader or Scoresaber maps.
was about to comment that. honestly they can see what already works and just implement that.
I think this would be great as for the last few years, I have been able to pass some expert+ maps but have been unable to do other experts. Being able to say something like yeah, I can pass some 10 star maps, but I'm most comfortable 7 to 9 like you can with scoresaber or beatleader would be nice for talking to non modded players.
Beatleaders system is my favorite with the breakdown of in what way is the map hard although I sometimes disagree lol.

except for beat games making maps that are a pain to play, meanwhile the ranked community has differing genres from speed, tech, etc.

The beat saber fan within me wants your suggestion to be implemented, but I think what will actually be done is adding a different rating like star rating. Whatever happens, I hope it translates over to multiplayer. I've been playing it a lot recently and being in-between Ex and Ex+ makes me feel bad when I play Expert lobbies but also have almost no fun playing Expert+ lobbies
Those are nice observations! What I was thinking is that they would add a new "menu" with point notes of why the difficulty is the way it is. Honestly, I can't wait to see what Beat Games are cooking up!
If you play arcaea i think it will be similar to ETR difficulty, not every song has it, it is used so some songs can have different difficulties for different skilled players.
Before ETR existed, a song could be PST PRS and FTR
A player could not have enough skill to play the FTR one, but they would have a lot of skill to find the PRS way too easy.
ETR was implemented for songs to have a middle ground, like it would be PST PRS FTR and ETR.
It was also used to make a modern chart of older songs, which they could definitely do in beat saber.
That is kinda of how i imagine what will be.

what if the biggest artists in beat saber have relative difficulties like there is expert but also an expert relative to how generally difficult a specific artist usually is like for example have a “Camilla Expert”
Would make it even more confusing than it already is, dont think they will do this

Adding stars like GD could lead to alot more things (like saber cosmetics at a certain number of stars) 😅
Think we are aiming bit too high with that, I mean ofcourse would be amazing but I really doubt they will do this anytime soon.
I really hope beat saber makes a different update instead of just adding music packs or ost's
I highly doubt that they are gonna make inbetween maps. Making more maps is a giant time investment especially when you need to hit a very specific difficulty, also difficulty is subjective so you wouldnt even be able to line it up to begin with. Not sure how exactly they would fix it, but making several new diffs for literally every map they have ever posted sounds like a very brute force-y way to go about it. I'd love to be proven wrong though so we'll see
Difficulty is subjective is a good point honestly, makes me think even more they might go the ‘star rating’ route other people are saying, since that would make it less subjective which is overall a good thing no?
It might be similar to the complexity scale from accsaber
what if they colour each difficulty in blue/gree/yellow/orange/red to match the difficulty of, lets say an expert map, where lvl insane would be in yellow, and power of the saber blade be in red on the expert difficulty?
I think the jump between hard and expert levels is sucky, and that easy and normal are levels most able-bodied people skip
