- In today's 1959 impala restoration video, we repaint the frame with POR15 as well as start the reassembly of the rear suspension and a little bit of the front! This is definitely a long process and will take many more months to fully complete, but I think the progress on the impala is going quick for the amount of work and time already invested! Hey Ryan it's looking pretty fine! I think that the frame would look way better with a satin black top coat of paint and it would protect that por15, which a can break down with uv, well sunlight -it's happened to me, you know there's that saying 'friends don't let friends use por15!!'. how about wirebrush and maybe evaporust for the bolts and sandblast for the brackets etc.? For a non-mechanic, you're doing great! (and you're getting gooder at wrenching things!!)

Sometimes welding on a frame will open up a can of worms. You did a good job on your frame project, looks great!
Do you know how to weld? If not you should learn if you are going to continue doing youtube for a living. Very good skill to have
I told him a couple of vids ago the very same thing, any flux 200 would be fine, no gas, no muss no fuss.. I explained to him it’s way more easy then most people think absolutely. 💯
Just bought a new mig, i know how to weld yes, but when it comes to something like a frame, im gona trust a guy with 50+ yrs experience over myself lol
I'm really surprised at all the frame welds you pointed out that are really poor. You would think factory welds would be a lot better than that. Frame looks amazing!

Something I recommend for cleaning up rusty hardware is a vinegar soak. A few days and the rust just about washs right off?

That's actually a bodyman mask for chemicals you should have a paint spray mask for the fumes

I saw on another channel a junkyard just over the Nevada border I’m California with 10,000 cars, all 1963 and before. The cars looked good. All desert climate cars. Are you interested Ryan?

Hey Ryan. Just a thought that may help.. I myself have 2 rotisseries for doing this kinda work. I made one out of 2 engine stands for putting car frames on. The other rotisserie I bought from a guy that had used it and then dumped in his field. It's an old-school one.. but makes life easier when working on things
You need to use soap when installing the rubber parts on the frame
Mastercoat sealer far exceeds the quality of por-15 by a large margin.. do some research and you’ll definitely find out. 💯
Eh i like the results on both my 59s!
POR 15 should also be top coated. You probably don't get much sun under the car though, so it may be OK, UV will cause it to break down over time and fail according to their website.

Why not sand blast they make different blast media, so it's not hard on the project
Liquid soap or rubber grease on those bump stops would make it easier.

Why don’t you do some Chevelles. There is a lot of them in salvage yards. You could make a lot of money off of them.
