What kind of luggage do you use? Do you like it?

I have trouble with #5 “just in case items”. When going on a cruise, I find myself packing several just in case items as there isn’t an opportunity to purchase these things on the ship. It is hard to leave these things at home.

And if you need anything in port it can be really expensive.

I'm a carry-on only traveler. One duffle bag for clothing (usually week's worth), and one backpack for any souvenirs.

A first aid kit has never been mentioned in any travel tip video I've seen. It's a "just in case" but I consider a must-have. You can't go to a pharmacy at 2am when illness hits. Likewise when you're on the road in the middle of nowhere and accidentally cut yourself, etc. That said, advice on what to pack to tide you over and how to pack it in a minimalist manner could be a topic. As well, what medications might be problematic crossing certain borders. e.g. pain medication legal in North America but not in other countries. Thanks.

People, please, please, put your footwear in a plastic bag before putting it in your suitcase. I cant believe this needs to be said. The bottom of your shoes steps on everything - from just dust to doggie poop to sputum to chemicals ... you should not under any circumstances just throw your shoes into your bag/ suitcase. And then you'll put your toiletries next to dog poop, and your food.
Actually use 2 separate bags, it'll save you space if you tuck footwear away separately.

I want to travel with the smallest bag possible in order to keep it light. I am using Underseat Pro's new iteration of a personal item backpack. This keeps me from packing heavy, and I'm able to easily handle the small bag. I love this backpack because of its light weight and features. I carried the first version of the Underseat Pro to Ireland for 2 1/2 weeks last spring. I purchased the new design for the upgraded zippers.
With regard to shoes, I am traveling with Altra zero drop waterproof running shoes. They are ugly and clunky, but they will suit most of my activities. I don't have room for another pair, but I wish I did! LOL!
And, I'm using mostly merino wool. I have to scout for lower prices, but I only take a few pieces that can be layered. The more research I do, the better I get at packing. Your channel is a TERRIFIC RESOURCE for me, and I'm so glad that I found you guys!!!

Totally agree with you re. weight of the bag itself being an important factor. I often travel around Asia where many airlines have a 7kg (15lbs) carry on limit for both your carry on and personal item. So for me any bag that weighs more than 2kg (4.4lbs) is just not worth considering. Recently tried a duffel (Tomtoc Navigator T31 - 1.1kg/2.6lbs) as a single carry on and to my surprise loved it, as it easily went under the seat in front / behind my legs (no more overhead bin anxiety!) 🎉😎😅. Enjoyed your video, keep up the great work! 🙏

Most backpacks are going to be heaps lighter than any suitcase, and, don't bring your laptop. Easy

Sneakers, walking shoes, sandals, too many shoes! Although I do stuff the shoes with socks, undies, and other small items but they definitely take up too much room

    1) bad (heavy) suitcase…..duh 😂, 2)toiletries and extras 3) shoes, 4)overpacking clothes, 5) packing just in case items. I am guilty of packing one pair of shoes too many. Otherwise, I’m good on these.

I’m guilty of packing books too, but what if what I’m reading gets boring??

Kindle! You can take as many books as you want and even buy new ones on the road.
